* Kurama/Shuichi Minamori in ''Manga/YuYuHakusho'' is this to his mother. He was Yoko Kurama, a demon fox who nearly died, so he fled in his spirit form to the Human World and merged with the body of an unborn child named Shuichi Minamori. Despite Kurama's original dislike of his inferior "human" mother, Shiori showers her son with love and kindness. After she gets injured protecting him, Kurama changes his ways and eventually learns to love his mother and becomes very, very protective of her. He willingly kills anyone that threatens her and tries to sacrifice his life using the Forlon Hope in order to save her when she nearly dies due to sickness.

* In the anime/manga version of ''Literature/TheHeroicLegendOfArslan'', Selma adores her father and he returns the same affection to her. So when [[spoiler: her husband Gadhevi]] murdered her father, Selma was the one to capture and turn the former in to be executed.

His protectiveness is fully understandable since in his past life, his mother was killed by humans while she was still at term, which caused him to declare war on humanity from the moment he was born.

There's MamaBear and there's PapaWolf, and then there's this: the inverse of those tropes, when it is the child who is very protective of their parents' emotional or physical state, and will [[TookALevelInBadass take a level in badass]] to protect them. They are likely to say IfYouEverDoAnythingToHurtHer. It may be because the child is a LivingEmotionalCrutch to their mother or father, or because the parent themselves is in some way emotionally or physically impaired that has required the child to take a PromotionToParent. In these cases, it will usually be an AdultsAreUseless situation. However, it can also be simply because they are GoodParents and the child is motivated by ThePowerOfLove.
