** A lot of other cases subvert this, by instead using the body in such a way as to throw suspicion anyway from them or onto another person. A lot of killers actually ''purposely'' try and lead people to the body, as part of their plan. An example of this comes in ''[[VisualNovel/PhoenixWrightAceAttorneyDualDestines Dual Destinies]]'' in case 3, where the killer used the way, time and place the body was found to make it seem as though he couldn't possibly be the culprit.

* ''Series/{{Dexter}}'':
** Dexter can't really be excluded from this trope considering his thoughtfully planned and executed methods of disposing of bodies. Not only does he completely cover a small room in plastic sheeting and prepare the scene, has everything he needs to both torture his victim (a villainous criminal implied to have no chance for redemption) with pictures of his victims, collect blood for his blood slide collection, then stab the victim in the chest, chop up the body, wrap it up in garbage bags, and deposit them at sea with his boat in the dead of night. Originally he weighted the backs down with rocks and had them sink, but that cache was discovered. He then changed to dumping them in a current which would take them out to sea, ensuring even if they were found, they couldn't be traced. All the while posing as the upbeat forensic blood spatter analyst for the police. Trope mastered.
** When his cache was discovered and he was forced to investigate it, he wound up discussing this trope with Masuka. Masuka instantly and casually listed the Everglades (presumably for alligators), [[FedToPigs pig farms]], acid, wood-chipper...
* ''Series/DexterNewBlood'': Dexter runs into some problems with this following his impulsive murder of Matt Caldwell. He considers the nearby lake (too shallow, so somebody will find it eventually), a cemetery (frozen ground, so impossible to dig), a woodchipper (too messy and leaves too much evidence), and an abandoned mine (unfortunately, occupied by a bear). He settles for temporarily burying Matt's body parts near his cabin before later incinerating them in an industrial furnace. [[spoiler:Unfortunately, this still creates evidence, since the fire wasn't hot enough to melt titanium pins in Matt's leg.]]

* ''Literature/AllDressedInWhite'': In the event Amanda was killed, then the killer did a damn good job hiding her body, as the police haven't been able to find [[NeverFoundTheBody any trace of her]] for nearly six years. As she disappeared from a seaside resort, some people speculate her body ended up in the [[BurialAtSea Atlantic Ocean]]. Amanda's body was actually buried beneath a church parking lot in nearby Palm Beach that was undergoing resurfacing at the time, so the burial site was concreted with no one being any the wiser. The killer actually has to put in an anonymous call to the police to tell them exactly where to find the body; the police use ground penetrating radar to determine the tip-off is legitimate before they start excavating. The killer later explains he hid the body ''too'' well, because he'd intended for Amanda's remains to be found much earlier.

* A British serial killer named John Haigh attempted to take advantage of body disposal, specifically via sulphuric acid. Haigh misinterpreted the phrase "body of evidence" to mean a literal body, and as such believed that if the bodies of his victims were destroyed, he couldn't be accused. He ended up being caught regardless, mainly thanks to him also stealing the possessions of his victims so he could sell them, leaving behind a metaphorical body of evidence in the process.
