* RCA's Capacitance Electronic Disc (UsefulNotes/{{CED}}) system is essentially video stored on a vinyl record[[note]]It does not store the video signal with height or width modulation, as the needle would be too suceptible to "jumping". Instead, the needle measures the capacitance of the immediate area, hence the name.[[/note]]. The system is more vulnurable to repetition than normal vinyl audio records, as the tone arm is motorized, rather than passive like on normal records, and is capable of getting stuck. Though the players usually have an electromagnet to get the needle out of a locked groove situation.
