** [[PyroManiac Nice]] and [[CowardlyLion Jacuzzi]] are co-leaders of their bootlegging/explosives making gang.

However, towards the end of Thousand-Year Blood War arc [[TheHero Ichigo Kurosaki]] and [[BarrierWarrior Orihime Inoue]] face the [[PhysicalGod ascended Yhwach]] in this manner, with Ichigo attacking while Orihime heals and shields, [[spoiler: and Yhwach has to make quiiiite the effort to disrupt their shared teamwork]]. As for the romance part, Orihime is in love with Ichigo and the ShipTease between the two increased through the arc itself, and despite them not being an OfficialCouple they fight together as if they had done so for years. ** Dauf and Riful also qualify for this. They met when they were both warriors, Dauf fell in love immediately, and Riful liked him at least. Perhaps they soon became a love couple. Later, however, they are seen only as Awakened Beings, which is why it is more a case of [[UnholyMatrimony Unholy Matrimony]].
* Kiri and Elraine in ''Manga/DoubleArts''. They even developed the {{Titl|eDrop}}ular ''Double Arts'' fighting style to fight while constantly connected. They are the official couple of their series and will never let go of each other. [[CantLiveWithoutYou No matter what]]. Elraine is afflicted with a special disease that killed a third of the world's population, and the only reason she isn't dead yet is because of Kiri's mysterious ability.
* Happens eventually in ''Anime/DragonBallZ'', when Gohan as Great Saiya-Man is joined by his girlfriend Videl as Great Saiya-Man 2 (called Great Saiya-Woman in the US). Their relationship is reflected in their InTheNameOfTheMoon speeches.
* ''Anime/EurekaSeven''
** Eureka and Renton's preferred method of fighting is piloting their shared mech while ''{{holding hands}}''.
** Also, Ray and Charles Beams are a more conventional example of this trope than Renton and Eureka. Instead of holding hands, they watch each other's back in a fight.

* Saito and Louise from ''LightsiblingNovel/TheFamiliarOfZero'' used to be the page image for SwordAndSorcerer. That alone should tell you about how awesome a Battle Couple they are. Similar to the Negima example, Louise summoned Saito to be a warrior/bodyguard for her in battle.
* ''Manga/{{Freezing}}'' has this as the main premise, with an older female [[ActionGirl Pandora]] and a younger male [[BarrierWarrior supporter]] called a Limiter. One of their abilities, the [[PsychicLink "Ereinbar Set"]], specifically requires that the Pandora and Limiter have a relationship based on deep, mutual trust. It's not so surprising then that, as Violet mentions, many Pandoras end up marrying their Limiters. As per the trope, these couples are particularly vulnerable to losing one half during battle (they fight {{Eldritch Abomination}}s, after all), and the manga does show the psychological and social effects of losing a partner in combat.
* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'':
** We also have the [[HugeGuyTinyGirl Curtis family]]. [[{{Housewife}} Izumi Curtis]], a powerful and impatient alchemist, and her husband, the [[TheBigGuy seven foot tall]] [[FaceOfAThug Sieg Curtis]]. Together, they run a butcher shop and kick so much ass, you could fill the ocean with it... unless they're [[TastesLikeDiabetes being lovey-dovey]]... and sometimes even then.
* ''Manga/FutureDiary'':
** Yuki and Yuno qualify as this after they finish with the 7th; she's the heavy hitter while he's TheStrategist.
** Ai and Marco (the couple that comprises the 7th) qualify as this as well. That's their gimmick, after all.

Yes, even the one with [[LesYay two female pilots]] and the one piloted by [[BrotherSisterIncest siblings.]] {{Deconstructed|Trope}}, as the main Battle Couple of Go and Anna has to handle domestic problems coming from [[MayDecemberRomance their big age difference]], and these ''do'' reflect in their performance.
* ''Manga/{{Hellsing}}''
** BadassNormal Pip Bernadotte and FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire Seras Victoria. Even more so after [[spoiler:Pip dies and Seras drinks his blood to become a true vampire, absorbing his soul]]. The resulting carnage is both terrifying and epic.
** Alucard and Integra. The scene of them in the middle of the last battle was epic; and then [[spoiler:she shoots the Major while he is fighting Anderson. They are an Official Couple, according to Word Of God]].
* ''Manga/HighschoolOfTheDead'': Saya's parents, Soichiro and Yuriko Takagi, have turned their estate into a veritable fortress and are [[BolivianArmyCliffhanger last seen preparing to face an army of "them"]] together.
* ''LightNovel/HorizonInTheMiddleOfNowhere'': The lesbian witch couple [[SchoolgirlLesbians Margot Knight and Malga Naruze]]. Working together they can take down a [[HumongousMecha God of War]] which is generally considered impossible by anything other than another God of War or a battleship.

** Inuyasha and Kagome have the GuysSmashGirlsShoot dynamic; Kagome often will ride piggyback like an archer on horseback.

They effectively subvert the GuysSmashGirlsShoot trope, as both of them have long range (Sango's Hiraikotsu and Miroku's Wind Tunnel) and short range (Sango's sword and Miroku's staff) attacks.
* ''LightNovel/{{Inukami}}'': Youko would ''like'' to be this with Keita, and from the perspective of [[EveryoneCanSeeIt EVERYONE ELSE]] they are. From his perspective she's just his demon busting assistant.
* Kazuma and Ayano from ''LightNovel/KazeNoStigma''. He is a super [[BlowYouAway Wind Contractor]], she is a [[PlayingWithFire literal]] FieryRedhead. They are often paired up for missions.

* Max and Milia/Miriya from ''Anime/{{Macross}}[=/=]Anime/{{Robotech}}'' are probably one of the earliest examples in anime. Their races were at war. Max is a human, and Milia is a Zentradi, but after she defects, the two end up marrying ''and'' Milia gets a red variable fighter to match her husband's blue one. They even lead different squadrons together for a time span of about 30 years after the events of the original ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross''.
* ''Franchise/LyricalNanoha'':
** Nanoha and Fate, but the fact that they're a couple has only been confirmed by WordOfGay from the writer and their voice actresses ([[HoYay/LyricalNanoha not that it wasn't obvious to anyone who watched the show]]). They're even [[HasTwoMommies raising a kid together]].
*** Fate and Nanoha are actually something of an subversion. Being in separate branches of the TSAB and having very different jobs (Nanoha as a Combat Instructor in the Air Force and Fate as an Enforcer in the Dimensional Navy) means that they're rarely in the same place at the same time while on active duty. Nanoha even points during the first battle in ''[[Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers StrikerS]]'' that it's been a long time since they've fought side by side.
** [[PuppyLove Erio and Caro]] from ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers''. While other {{ship|ping}}s had fought together, they're the two that are rarely seen in battle without the other. They're also a lot more dependent on each other than the other pairs; Caro powers up Erio and serves as the primary transportation, while Erio handles the actual combat. Finally, they're one of the few couples that's [[OfficialCouple official]], rather than just loads of ShipTease. They also double as a SiblingTeam (both were adopted by Fate, but they didn't meet each other until they were ten).
* ''Manga/MahouSenseiNegima''. Generally speaking, the setting requires something like this because most mages are {{squishy|Wizard}} and need a physical-fighting warrior to protect them. It was invented to be practical more than anything, but Negi says two Pactio partners often end up marrying each other. Because of this, the Pactio system has heavy romantic undertones in magical society, though we are shown several examples of non-romantic Pactios. Character-specific examples of this are:
** Negi and his partner Asuna; he's the mage and she's his athletic and protective fighter. Interestingly for this trope, Negi decided to train as a MagicKnight so he wouldn't have to rely on and put her in danger as much.

Visenya was known as a great warrior and dragonrider, wielding a valyrian steel sword named Dark Sister. While Aegon may not have had any strong feelings for Visenya, she was still his wife and they conquered a continent together. Rhaenys was also a dragonrider but had not martial prowess under her belt beyond that.
