* The characters in ''VideoGame/Cyberpunk2077'' are regular humans at their core, and many of them are skilled fighters and hackers in their own right, but most of their badassness comes from their advanced cybernetic implants. Netrunning would be impossible without the required implants, and not even the best Solo could force armored doors with their bare hands or deflect bullets with their natural skin, but the right implants make it possible.

Missed a bit, see below edit reason.

* Yang Xiao Long in ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'' loses her arm in Volume 3, and gains a mechanical one in Volume 4 with a built-in shotgun to go with her gauntlets.

Neither are this trope; Yang's arm replicates the weapon she used before she lost her arm (shotgun gauntlets) so isn't an upgrade in terms of what the trope is about. Cinder's arm doesn't give her any advantages she didn't already have and has only one very situational ability that she couldn't do before, but it's been lampshaded a few times that the arm actually makes her much more vulnerable than she was before she had it. It has more drawbacks than benefits for her, and it's not the reason why she's badass.

** Similarly, [[TheDragon Cinder]]'s lost arm is replaced in Volume 4 by a Grimm arm, which possesses incredible strength and can stretch unnaturally, along with growing back in seconds (albeit extremely painfully) if it's cut off. The only drawback is that her aura can't protect it with the rest of her body, as being made from the Grimm, it isn't capable of projecting aura.
