* [[BigBad Gauron]] from ''FullMetalPanic'', five seconds before trying to get his HumongousMecha to self destruct and have a double suicide with Sousuke, yells out, "[[HoYay I LOVE YOU KASHIM!]]" Sousuke is not amused.
** To go further, in the novels, it's even more amusing since Sousuke's thoughts are actually shown during those moments. Right before Gauron's love confession, Gauron was apparently ''very'' loud and verbal about his... [[OrgasmicCombat excitement and arousal during their fight]]. To the point where he was pretty much orgasming. And Sousuke was shown to get increasingly unnerved and bewildered by it, wondering repeatedly: "What is ''wrong'' with this guy? He's not right." Eventually, Sousuke reaches the conclusion: [[YoureInsane Gauron is completely insane]]. Nothing he does makes any rational sense. And so, when Gauron yelled his AnguishedDeclarationOfLove, Sousuke ''completely'' dismisses any [[HoYay possible implications of it]], thinking that Gauron was probably spouting nonsensical gibberish like always.
** This is somewhat subverted in the anime, where -- after the explosion occurs and Sousuke returns inside the submarine -- you can hear Gauron saying those words ''again'', this time in a much more quiet and haunting voice. It's actually downright wistful in the original Japanese version. And we are concommitently shown an image of Venom's wreckage slowly descending towards the depths of the ocean. Followed closely by a very subdued and lonely Sousuke going down a dark corridor, with his shoulders drooping. Many {{YaoiFangirls}} I know have squeed over the implications of that scene...
*** This troper has always wondered why would they have Gauron repeat himself like that, considering that he was supposedly ''dead'' at the time. Unless it was just an echo in Sousuke's head, which... actually makes it much more worrying...
**** Yeah, I was kinda worried by that too. I mean, Kaname was thinking about him and being all "Oh, I was wrong about you, you're really a great guy, ''Sousuke''", and what was Sousuke doing? Thinking about his Gauron's "I love you, ''Kashim''"
***** Ehh? It makes perfect sense to me. I assumed Souske was rather... [[{{squick}} disturbed]] by Gauron's words, and was wondering why he seems to attract freaks like that. I know I would have been depressed if Gauron told me that he loved me. I'd be wondering what's so wrong with me that a psycho could be attracted to me.

** Later on in the novels, Sousuke and Kaname ''finally'' get their chance to declare their love for each other as well -- while on ''an open radio frequency''. Pretty much everybody that counts in both Mithril ''and'' Amalgam hears them -- including Leonard and Tessa. Sousuke gets mercilessly teased by Kurz and Mao afterwards. Poor Kaname (who is still a prisoner of Leonard) has it worse. Leonard is a ''very'' sore loser, unfortunately...
*** This troper finds it particularly amusing that while (in the original Japanese) Kaname uses a ''slightly'' more temperate expression of love, Sousuke goes straight for the "aishiteru" formula -- the very same that Gauron had thrown at him during the above-mentioned suicide attempt. That's irony of fate to you, I guess...
