* In the movie ''Anime/JinRohTheWolfBrigade'', a powerful moment in the film, Kei grabs onto Fuse crying and utters line from Little Red Riding Hood "Mother, what big claws you have! Mother, what big teeth you have!". All the while, Fuse is screaming in anguish as he finds himself forced to either shoot the woman he loves or turn his back on his fellow Panzer Cops.
* The ending of ''Manga/LoveHina Again!'' Sasuke knocks her out with a genjutsu of him impaling her with a Chidori, then sneers to Naruto and Kakashi that she was a deluded fool clinging to a fantasy and that he had no idea why she'd fallen for him in the first place. After Naruto beats some sense into him, Sasuke begins to reciprocate her feelings and they eventually get married.]]
** In the series' DarkestHour, Hinata rushes to protect Naruto from Pain, leaping into a hopeless situation just to buy him time. When he pleads her to run away, she confesses her love for him with this ''grand speech'' that starts with "[[LoveRedeems Your smile saved me!]]" and goes from there. Then Pain stabs her in the back before we can hear his response -- which we don't get until ''Anime/TheLastNarutoTheMovie'' two years later. ** Sai gives one of these to Sakura on Naruto's behalf, except [[JerkassHasAPoint he also points out]] that Naruto's feelings for both her and Sasuke, and ThePromise she made Naruto make to her in Part I (to bring back Sasuke for her), is [[BrutalHonesty causing him a lot of emotional pain]]. Filled with guilt and shame, Sakura then rushes to Naruto to tell him that she loves him now. However, [[FalseConfession she genuinely doesn't mean it]], and she [[BreakHisHeartToSaveHim just wants him to stop suffering because of her]]. This results in Naruto easily seeing right through her, [[WhatTheHellHero calling her out for lying]], and [[ShipSinking rejecting her outright]] by telling her that he '''hates''' people who lie to themselves. It puts a strain on their friendship for a while.
** Rin to Kakashi near the end of ''Kakashi Gaiden''. He responds that he doesn't deserve her for abandoning her, but he will protect her as Obito, who secretly loved her, would.

But then Mahiro has to play TheBeard for a friend, and spending a whole day following them is too much for Nyarko. She confronts him that night and has an emotional breakdown, sobbing over how much it hurt watching him even pretending to be another woman's fiancé, and how his refusal to [[CanNotSpitItOut just say whether he likes her or not]] is driving her crazy. In his own {{Tsundere}} way, Mahiro manages to say that he likes Nyarko, and they spend the rest of the night snuggling.
** Worth noting, in this scene Nyarko goes from using her usual "''daisuki''" (大好き), the normal way of saying "love" in Japanese, to the much more intense and meaningful "''aishiteru''" (愛してる).
* In ''Manga/PandoraHearts'', there's one declaration where the "love" part is canon and several declarations where the "love" part is only implied.
