!!Examples:
* EnfantTerrible: Ceres wrapped Meisel and Clare Walt around her little finger by the time she was about thirteen despite behaving every inch the AlphaBitch to her older brother, fawned over as a great beauty, and also an inhumanly strong MagicKnight who repeatedly beat him in sparring matches to the point where he was disinherited in favor of her. Basil Walt infers that she is in fact a Heretical God's Child, a DarkMessiah figure.
* GhostMemory: The main conceit of the series is Lyle's possession of a Jewel containing the preserved personalities of the first seven patriarchs of the Walt dynasty, who alternately provide Lyle advice and bicker among themselves.
* GreekChorus: The seven prior family heads are a constant peanut gallery about Lyle's actions throughout the series.
* InsecureLoveInterest: Lyle is, at first, baffled that Novem still wants to be with him after he's lost his title, let alone bankrolling him to the hilt out of her dowry while they set themselves up as adventurers. She just loves him ''that much''.
