It was Dange's kindness that made Gilligan second-guess his allegiance to Heinel and prevent further destruction on Earth.

* The entire dynamic of the Voltes Team. While they were originally conscripted based on their skills, they have a genuine bond for each other and you can feel the genuine appreciation they have for each other in every episode, from small things like Hiyoshi calling Megumi "Megumi-neesan" to big things like Ippei thanking Kenichi for protecting his horse, Eiffel. The gang are seen fishing together and sharing their interests with one another, and choose to stay together even after the threat against Earth has been neutralized.

* Ippei's development from a cynical {{Jerkass}} to a CoolBigBro figure to Kenichi. At the start of the series, he's a completely different person, mocking the Go brothers for being weak and acting brash in front of the only female of the team (who he's implied to have a crush on). After he learns that Kenichi isn't any different from him, Ippei becomes more sweet and protective, going as far as to punch Nakamura for suggesting that Kenichi is a traitor based on his Boazanian blood, and eagerly agreeing to save Kentaro Go despite earlier portraying apathy towards the matter. Ippei truly had a HiddenHeartOfGold under all that bravado, something Hiyoshi comments on at the end of episode 3.

* In episode 32, Daijirou shows his soft side by caring for a stray puppy. He has a flashback to losing Mitsuyo as he speculates the its backstory. The same puppy comes to save the heroes from the MonsterOfTheWeek, Garus.

* In Ippei's flashback as he grew up in America, he's shown with Eiffel as a pony. For someone who's a gruff ByronicHero on the outside, it's an adorable scene and emphasizes how deep down, he's still that little boy.

** It can explain why the Go brothers were quick to welcome Heinel, in spite of everything. He was still their brother, and they had already lost enough family members.

* Despite Gohl's DarkAndTroubledPast he was able to move on and meet Mitsuyo, and start a happy family with her. Mitsuyo never belittled him for his concerns like most humans did, and the two genuinely respected and loved one another. Not to mention, after GoingNative on Earth, Gohl could finally live life without [[HideYourOtherness hiding his otherness]] and be respected despite his heritage. He made many friends that respected him and what he fought for, ready to aid him no matter the cost.
* Gohl himself was a BadassBookworm who used his smarts to manufacture weapons for the slaves, and his spirit inspired General Dange, who was once a noble, to break off his horns and join the slave rebellion. Dange also encourages Gohl to see his children, but Gohl says that the liberation of Boazania takes priority. Dange is also lucky enough to meet Gohl's children (excluding Heinel) personally and tell them heroic tales of their father.

* Katherine, despite being on the side of the Boazanians, has a heart of gold. She's nothing but kind and attentive to Heinel, even when he rejects it. If it wasn't for her love, Heinel would be a memory. Katherine defied every action of the nobility, including that of Heinel's, just to keep him safe, and it was her that was the biggest obstacle to Zambajil's plan to have him killed.
