* The stretch of road that Max is chased along right at the beginning of ''Road Warrior'' is Wez's private hunting reserve; during the chase, Max and his pursuers slalom through a wreck site that's still burning, evidence of a recent kill by Wez and the Landau driver.
* Why did Max get a dog in the sequel? To replace the dog he and his wife had that gets killed by the motorcycle gang.
* In the second film, the folks in the refinery try to deal with Max by handcuffing him to a pipe, and he picks the lock effortlessly. Then you remember he's a cop, and probably received training for that exact situation.
* In the first movie, all of the bikies except Johnny the Boy visibly have a Phi symbol tattooed on their neck or cheek. Near the end when Max handcuffs him, he suddenly clearly has the tattoo on his neck. He had to earn it by burning Goose alive.

** This might also explain the ContinuitySnarl of Max's age and appearance in ''Film/MadMaxFuryRoad''. Unlike Road Warrior or Beyond Thunderdome, Fury Road is being told from second-hand accounts.
[[AC:FridgeHorror]]
* Neither Max's wife nor Goose have died by the end of ''Mad Max''. With Max driving off into the wasteland after a RoaringRampageOfRevenge, it's not clear if he ever intends to return to his old life. He's apparently condemning his loved ones to [[AndIMustScream live on in a horrible condition]] without any support from their husband/friend. The original intention for Lord Humungus in the sequel was that he is [[BigBadFriend actually Goose]].
* Toecutter's gang doesn't know Jessie is a cop's wife, or that that cop is Max. They harass, terrorize, and kill her because she [[GroinAttack kicked Toecutter]] after they saw her buying ice cream for her son while on vacation. Why was she on vacation? Because her husband needed an escape from the violence. If Max had held out another week before his resignation, the gang never would've seen Jessie in the first place.
* The woman in the red top and long white skirt. Toecutter's gang beat up her boyfriend and dragged him down the street behind a motorcycle. Yet she's still with them at the beach. Given that the gang has no qualms with rape or kidnapping, she's probably not there by choice.

* If gasoline is really that scarce, Humongous and the other assorted goons sure would waste an awful lot of it, with their insanely-modified vehicles, always gunning their overpowered engines and zooming around hither and yon...

** This interpretation of Max as a legend would explain the weird tonal shift of ''Film/MadMaxBeyondThunderdome''; The first half of the film (Bartertown)is quite dark, if still more LightAndSofter than the first two films, while the second half (The Lost tribe) goes straight to being DenserAndWackier. The first half was from the point of view from the citizens of Bartertown, while the second half was from the point of view of Savanah Nix.
** This might also explain the ContinuitySnarl of Max's age in ''Film/MadMaxFuryRoad''. Unlike Road Warrior or Beyond Thunderdome, Fury Road is being told from second-hand accounts.

** One theory is that engine tech advanced to the point where engines burned fuel more efficiently in response to the PostPeakOil crisis. This can be supported by the fact that the bikes Furiosa brings with her in ''Fury Road'' can carry enough fuel to drive for 160 days. Of course, lean burning engines still burn.

* Fridge Heartwarming: [[WordOfGod George Miller]] interprets the series as muddied myth and legend. Of course, that means that hundreds of years later there must still be people around to tell the tale. Meaning despite all his demons, all the horrors he's faced, all the times Max tried to [[KnightInSourArmor convince himself he didn't care...]] [[HopeSpringsEternal His battles made a difference after all.]]

* In ''Fury Road'' the Vuvalini are planning to flee across the "Great Salt", a journey of 160 days by motorcycle. the only possible salt flat that could take 160 days to cross would be what you'd get if the Pacific Ocean had completely dried up. Just going from the side effects to the Earth's ecosystem, it's very likely that the Earth's biosphere is effectively dead, if not dying - and that the Earth will be a completely dead dust ball within a few generations.
* In ''Fury Road'', the People Eater's legs are grotesquely swollen, possibly from gout. However, if one takes his name at face value, that he is a [[ImAHumanitarian cannibal]], another possibility emerges. A real-life effect of cannibalism is, among other things, extreme swelling of the extremities. This is typically caused if the flesh is diseased, such as by AIDS or other diseases that would likely be commonplace in the post-apocalyptic world seen in the ''Mad Max'' films. Conclusion: It is highly likely that the People Eater ''is indeed a cannibal.''
