* AbortedArc: This happened twice in Titan Magazines' stories:
** The sequel stories to ''Revenge of the Fallen'' abruptly end with Megatron turning up in the middle of a battle between the Autobots and Bludgeon's Decepticons, beating up Bludgeon and leading the Decepticons away saying that the final battle will come sooner than Prime thinks. Wheelie (who betrayed the Autobots to Megatron because in this continuity, the Autobots never trusted him) runs across a re-zombified Dead End and getting ripped to pieces and the Autobots ship Wheelie off to Ratchet to see if anything can be done (indicating the Autobots were unaware of Wheelie's betrayal).
** Titan then did a ''Dark of the Moon'' relaunch, but only after four issues, they did another reboot focusing on ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'' which was evidentially last minute as the first issue has a ''Dark of the Moon'' pull-out and several issues had competitions allowing readers to win [=DOTM=] stuff.

** The Wal-Mart DVD has ''Transformers: Beginnings'', which is a LimitedAnimation adaptation of the IDW prequel comics. About its only positive draw was that it had Creator/FrankWelker as Megatron, and that turned out to be [[VocalDissonance not so great]] because he used an age-affected version of his G1 Megatron voice (Welker's performances as Movieverse Megatron, which are even ''less'' deep and growly than Megatron's voice in ''G1'', have caused quite a few fans to dread Welker [[WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime reprising his role again]]). Creator/PeterCullen as narrator was advertised, but that turned out to be [[BlatantLies inaccurate]]--it was narrated by Mark Ryan, who did CuteMute Bumblebee's ''one spoken line ever.''

''The Last Knight'' was intended to be the launchpad for a SharedUniverse set in the film universe; however, following the underperformance of the film, plans changed and the sixth film in the series was removed from Paramount's release schedule. ''Film/{{Bumblebee}}'', already well into development, was retooled into a reboot, and its warm reception convinced Hasbro and Paramount to proceed with a new film continuity. Bay did not return to direct the rebooted films, although he remains attached as producer.

* PragmaticAdaptation: The alternate vehicles (especially for the Autobots) were chosen to help convey the proper size of the appropriate characters. Without the magic of mass-shifting, Optimus' original robot mode would not be much larger then the other Autobots. Similarly they (and every adaptation after G1) knew that Megatron turning into a [[HandCannon handgun]] just wouldn't fly dramatically. ** ArcWelding: Comes hand in hand. The comics are filled with a metric tons' worth of explanations for what's going on in the films. For example:

to:

* AlternateRealityGame: The Sector Seven ARG for the first movie, which reveals that the Transformers franchise is a {{Masquerade}} created to cover up the truth: that Sector Seven and transforming alien robots are real...
* AnimatedAdaptation:
** ''WesternAnimation/TransformersAnimated'' was produced in anticipation of the movie's popularity, but the story is a whole other AlternateContinuity line. As such, there are several direct nods to these films: Megatron's Cybertronian form looks like a simplified version of his movie incarnation, Bumblebee having a racing stripe and Blackout shows up in season three. The Japanese translation was initially announced to turn this series into a direct adaptation, but so far the only real difference is that Bulkhead's name was changed to Ironhide. The canceled fourth season was supposed to come even closer, with Ironhide and Jazz replacing Bulkhead and Prowl on the Earth team and the remaining Autobots using new color schemes more reminiscent of the movie - yes, including flame decals on Optimus.
** ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime'' is even closer to an adaptation in spirit, even including the writers as Executive Producers. Most of the series takes cues from the films as Optimus, Megatron and Bumblebee have nearly identical designs. Compare [[http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Image:MovieBumblebee_render1.jpg movie Bumblebee]] to [[http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Image:PrimeBee.jpg Prime Bumblebee]].

* OffModel: In quite possibly a rare, non-[[Creator/AsylumVisualEffects Asylum]] case, there's three in Revenge of the Fallen. Most noticeably whenever ILM's CG predator drone is featured looking nothing like the real-life counterpart also used. And when Ironhide's ejected gun can be seen on his arm in a later scene during the desert battle. The page explains these in more detail.
** The third movie also has one instance when Ironhide, Sideswipe and the Dreads face off without any weapons. In one shot, the Ironhide CG Model has his recently dropped guns on his back. Said guns disappear in all other shots afterwards.

* AluminumChristmasTrees: The vacuum of space means heat radiates off very slowly. Thus flying out in space [[SpaceIsCold would not freeze the Autobots]] in their ship forms, while ice and cold gas, which froze Megatron, is a different matter. So fans complaining about that are applying ConvectionSchmonvection. And they would have remelted during entry in the atmosphere, wich tends to get very hot.
