While Thomasin had no way of predicting how that would come back to bite her, Mercy or Caleb could have told their parents what she'd said and gotten her into an enormous amount of trouble, ''especially'' given that both parents were highly religious and still raw from Sam's disappearance... which Katherine already partially blamed her for.
