''10 Things I Hate About You'' is a 1999 HighSchool film which was, essentially, a sort of murky, updated HighSchoolAU-style take on ''Theatre/TheTamingOfTheShrew''. The plot is fairly standard for a romantic comedy, and runs as such:

Despite being a teen romcom, ''10 Things'' received some good reviews for acting, writing and general amusement value. It's still fondly remembered years later because of that. Most notably, it put its two leads on the map as dramatic actors to watch in the future. Creator/JuliaStiles and Creator/HeathLedger had their break-out roles here. In the meanwhile, Creator/JosephGordonLevitt (''Series/ThirdRockFromTheSun'') and Larisa Oleynik (the title character from ''Series/TheSecretWorldOfAlexMack'', not to mention JGL's girlfriend on ''Third Rock'') played the roles of Cameron and Bianca. Lastly, Creator/DavidKrumholtz of ''Series/{{Numb3rs}}'', ''Series/TheAddamsFamily'' and ''Film/TheSantaClause'' played Michael, and Creator/AllisonJanney had a OneSceneWonder role as "Miss Perky," the school's incredibly-messed up guidance counselor. (This film is a shining example of RetroactiveRecognition.)

* HeroesGoneFishing: A lot of it.
** Patrick is playing pool in a bar when Cameron and Michael tell him about Kat's likes and dislikes, which Cameron found out from Bianca.
** Kat is seen at Club Skunk when Patrick goes there to try and get to know her better, armed with facts about her that Cameron told him.
** The party at Bogey's house features loads of characters doing this.
** Kat is seen in the music store playing the guitar, and then in a bookshop, where Patrick finds her.
** Kat and Patrick do this after Kat sneaks Patrick out of detention, where they rent a pedalo and then go paint-balling.
** When Bianca once again asks Mr. Stratford if she can go to the prom, he's doing exercises on the back patio.
** At the prom, Patrick tells Kat he was in Milwaukee the year before, looking after his grandfather, which consisted (from what we hear) of watching ''Wheel of Fortune'' and making [=SpaghettiOs=].
** Cameron wants Bianca to go sailing with him, and after the prom, she agrees to. Their last scene is of the two of them heading off to go sailing.

* IMeantToDoThat: Michael, on his scooter, swerves out of the way of an oncoming truck and careers down a grassy hill towards the sports field. After he falls off, he gets up, sees the crowd up at the top and cheers with his arms in the air, invoking this trope.

* HelloNurse: Bianca is this, at least in the eyes of Cameron and Joey. Michael instead sees her as a BitchInSheepsClothing, at least at first.

* ItsAllAboutMe: Joey has this attitude. It's this that causes Bianca to realise [[WrongGuyFirst that Cameron is the better guy]] and that Joey doesn't really care about her.
** Bianca at first. Best exemplified early on when she says, "Can we just focus on me for a second, please?" She drops it after Cameron calls her out on her behaviour.
* {{Jerkass}}: Joey. He makes a bet with his friends that he can get his way with Bianca whether she wants it or not, even trying to do so after she has realised Cameron is better than him, [[spoiler:and we later learn that he dumped Kat after she told him that after they slept together, she wasn't ready to do it again.]]
