* EndingFatigue: YourMileageMayVary, but there are plenty of places earlier than the films actual ending where it ''could'' have ended, and it would've been a much better film; when it finally ended, it didn't actually end - it just seemed to stop. * FanDisservice: The [[spoiler:female assassin's death, due to any sexiness from the fact that she's completely naked being canceled out by the fact that she's dying]].

* ItGetsEasier: Played horrifyingly straight. The first kill is quite tense for both the characters and the audience, but then after that it becomes much easier on them and us.
** This is partially done by intentionally making the first two people killed sympathetic; the first is a poet whom we see buying groceries and chatting with the lady behind the counter; the second is a political activist whose young daughter is featured front and center and whom the team almost blow up by mistake. After that their targets are mostly portrayed as simple terrorists

* LoveItOrHateIt: Some consider the film a masterpiece and Spielberg's most mature and complex film. Others consider it {{Anvilicious}} and naive. Worth noting is the fact that political activists on BOTH sides of the ArabIsraeliConflict have lambasted the film for being too generous to the other side.

* {{Narm}}: Avner makes sweet love to his wife while flashing back to the catastrophic rescue attempt at Munich. Made all the more inappropriate due to the fact that Avner wasn't even there at the time.

* Deconstruction: Possibly of the espionage genre. Even though the film is based on historical events, it still manages to demonstrate the morally reprehensible brutality that often comes with covert and clandestine operations. The film as a whole does a fairly decent job of showing just how terrifying it would be to be a secret agent.

** Not quite so. One of the Israeli operatives mentions that he would have no qualms killing her again if necessary. The aftermath of the scene is disturbing more because they have been killing so many people that they are starting to ponder their justification for participating in the operation.
