!!''Jigsaw'' contains examples of:
* SoundtrackDissonance: The first trailer shows the usual grisly imagery associated with the franchise...with "Running Scared" by Music/RoyOrbison playing in the background.
* TemptingFate: At one point, the survivors encounter a doll slowly riding a bike towards them, and emitting a laugh. One of the survivors sarcastically states that he isn't creeped out by this. Cue the survivors suddenly being pulled into a new deathtrap.

includes the following tropes:

* CatchPhrase: "Live or die--the choice is yours." Not precisely the original ("make your choice"), but close enough to count.
* EyeScream: This is hinted at late in the trailer when one of the participants in Jigsaw's new game falls dangerously close to a set of outstretched spikes.
* PosthumousCharacter: Despite his character's definitive and gruesome death at the end of ''Film/SawIII''--and the ensuing autopsy shown at the beginning of ''Film/SawIV''--Tobin Bell returns to play the role of John Kramer in this film. The film's official synopsis tries to hint that the original Jigsaw might still be alive, but that is an obvious misdirect.
* SerialKiller: The new Jigsaw, whomever they may be, is just as much a killer as the original.
* SoundtrackDissonance: The first trailer shows off the usual grisly kind of imagery associated with the franchise...with franchise as "Running Scared" by Music/RoyOrbison playing plays in the background.
* TemptingFate: At A group playing one point, of the survivors encounter a new Jigsaw's "games" watch as the infamous Billy doll slowly riding rides a bike towards them, and emitting then lets out a laugh. One of the survivors sarcastically states notes with sarcasm that he isn't creeped out by this. the sight is not creepy at all. Cue the survivors "players" suddenly being pulled into a new deathtrap."game".
* VillainousLegacy: The original Jigsaw is dead, but someone has seen fit to carry on his work more than a decade after his death.
