''Jigsaw'' is the eighth installment in the ''Franchise/{{Saw}}'' franchise, the first film in that franchise following a six-year hiatus, and a sequel to ''Film/Saw3D'' (also known as ''Saw: [[SeriesFauxnale The Final Chapter]]''). It will be released on the 27th of October 2017, resuming the franchise tradition of releasing a new film just before Halloween.

* AnArmAndALeg: When Ryan tries to cheat at the game, a barbed wire wraps around his leg. He is then told that [[spoiler:Anna and Mitch will be freed from the silo trap if he presses a device that will free his leg. "Freeing" his leg means actually having it sliced off.]]
* AnyoneCanDie: As per the norm for the series. [[spoiler: Once again, the protagonists ultimately fail their tests and don't make it out alive.]]
* AssholeVictim: Everyone Jigsaw preys upon to varying degrees, though some are significantly worse than others.
* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler: Ryan's ultimate fate, being trapped in a room with Anna's corpse to die of dehydration over the course of several days.]]

* BitchInSheepsClothing: Every single member of the barn game could qualify, albeit to to varying degrees (except for Ryan, who's something of a JerkAss up front), but special mention goes to [[spoiler: Anna, who murdered her infant child and made it look like her husband had accidentally rolled on top of it, suffocating the baby. She keeps up the lie as long as possible and shows no remorse , despite her husband being DrivenToSuicide.]]

* CheatersNeverProsper: Ryan tries to cheat the game [[spoiler: and ultimately gets his leg sliced off for his trouble.]]
* DeadlyDisc: The first game of the barnyard game involves the players being dragged by a chain around their neck towards a series of rapidly moving buzzsaws. They must give a blood offering in order to stop the blades from killing them, which involves sticking something out and letting that bleed on the blade.

* FinalGirl: PlayedWith. [[spoiler: Anna shows all the traits of a traditional final girl early on, being a resourceful and intelligent ActionSurvivor as well as coming across very kind, compassionate, and level-headed in comparison to the others. However, [[BitchInSheepsClothing much of this is an act]] and she suffers a VERY well deserved KarmicDeath. This leaves [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Ryan]] as the last man standing... but he too dies. Then it's revealed that Logan, the first victim of the Barn trap, not only survived his "death," making him the final boy and sole survivor of the barn trap, but he is also the new Jigsaw.]]

There's also the fact that he tests Halloran for being a DirtyCop when he himself is a cop who is secretly a SerialKiller.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Ryan. He's in general fairly abrasive, [[YourCheatingHeart cheated on his wives]], and shows a serious case of recklessness and irresponsibility, but, unlike many of the other barn victims, he isn't nearly as self-absorbed or ill-intentioned. [[spoiler: The deaths he caused are genuinely accidental, if brought on by his own recklessness, he cuts off his own leg to save Mitch and Anna, and he refuses to shoot Anna at the end, even trying to warn her at the last second what will happen if she shoots him.]]
* KarmicDeath: [[spoiler: Anna, point blank. She takes the shotgun and bullet John leaves behind, intending to murder Ryan to save herself. Turns out, the shotgun shoots in reverse, so Anna shoots herself instead. Though, unfortunately for Ryan, she destroys their keys to escape as well. ]]
* PosthumousCharacter: Despite his character's definitive and gruesome on-screen death at the end of ''Film/SawIII'' -- and the ensuing autopsy shown at the beginning of ''Film/SawIV'' -- Tobin Bell returns to play the role of John Kramer in this film. [[spoiler: But only in flashbacks.]]
