* NoFathersAllowed: The community does not have any men, so the childrens' fathers aren't involved with their lives. In the case of Rebecca, this is because she'd been [[spoiler:[[ChildByRape conceived by rape]], but in the others' cases it isn't clear why.

* DoesNotLikeMen: This is {{implied}} to be the case for the community's women, as there are no men among them, and they make their own sons leave after the've grown toward manhood.

In an unspecified rural area is a community of black and white women there along with their children. They live apart from the outside world, while making the boys leave when they get older, with no men around. Rebecca, a biracial girl among them, does not fit in as a result of her heritage and desire for more. The women, including her mother, make it clear that her ways are unacceptable. Will she defy them and choose her own path, or leave?

!Tropes:
* AmbiguouslyAbsentParent: There are no men in the community. As a result, it's left unclear who the fathers of the children are, or where they went. It's possible that like [[spoiler:Rebecca]] they were conceived by rape or otherwise that the women were in bad relationships, explaining their animus toward men and making their own sons leave after they get older.
* AmbiguousSituation: It's left explained what the community is about, why it formed and even its location.
* ChildByRape: [[spoiler:Rebecca's mother is finding it hard to see increasingly as she looks like the man who had raped her, conceiving Rebecca.]]
* DreadlockRasta: By the end of the film, Rebecca's made her hair into dreadlocks, signifying that she now defies her community's demand for conformity. [[spoiler:She leaves afterward to live her way.]]
* HalfBreedDiscrimination: Rebecca is the only biracial person in her community, seen as neither sufficiently black nor white for them as a result.
* LadyLand: The community does not have any men, with boys forced to leave when they grow older.
* MalignedMixedMarriage: Rebecca is stopped from dancing with a white boy she likes. It's not about her being biracial explicitly, though the fact members of her community [[HalfBreedDiscrimination don't like her heritage]] implies this.
* SlutShaming: Rebecca is angrily denounced as a slut by the women in her community as a result of wearing a shirt she made thin enough [[VaporWear to clearly display her breasts underneath]].
* VaporWear: Near the end, Rebecca wears a see-through shirt she had made, appalling the community members.
