Rayman meets Elly: a slave girl assigned to him, and the two become close friends, it becomes clear the two of them have sweet natures. Nonetheless...Rayman must become a pirate. So he declares his old identity dead, builds an extremely impressive JerkassFacade and becomes "[[TitleDrop Piranha]]"

The vitriol between Piranha and Anaconda is completely astounding, Piranha is an effective pirate if it didn't emotionally break him at nearly every turn, and is an upstart ServileSnarker with an iron facade, on the constant verge of [[TheDogBitesBack biting back.]] Anaconda is a smooth, suave and stoic sadist that doesn't fall for Piranha's act and takes delight in shoving Piranha's head to the grindstone. This fic probably deserves it's own trope page to be honest.

Anaconda, impressed with Rayman's fighting abilities, petty over how difficult he was to capture, and satisfied knowing he will suffer,accepts the offer.
Rayman is portrayed a pretty sensitive and caring guy, [[BreakTheCutie bearing this in mind]], lest his planet be destroyed, he must become a pirate. He declares his old identity dead, builds an extremely impressive JerkassFacade and becomes [[TitleDrop Piranha]].

It's perhaps a little too obvious that Anaconda and Piranha are author favorites,other characters get some establishing moments, but this fanfic is very much an exercise in what Piranha and Anaconda will do next, nonetheless the utter vitriol between them is completely phenomenal.
