He's the actual most powerful student in their class and comes with a bonus of being quiet unlike Bakugou's abrasiveness and calling them by their actual names instead of the insulting ones Bakugou uses.

** Eijiro and Tetsutetsu become almost instant friends due to their love for "[[RatedMForManly manly]]" things and similar Quirks. When Izuku realizes Akira Fuki is cut out of the same cloth, he immediately brings the Gen Ed student to meet the duo (although he regrets it after seeing how far their similarities go).

* BigDamnHeroes: [[spoiler:When it's only All Might and Izuku fighting the League of Villains (including All for One and several Nomu), all the girls manage to unlock Bonding Level 4 and teleport straight into the battlefield, giving the heroes an upper hand in the fight.]]

* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: On its own, Quirk Understanding gives someone the power [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin to understand their own quirk]], making it completely worthless. But in individuals with multiple quirks, it can be used to understand the limitations and uses of any other quirk the person has, including the possible effects and synergies the combination of different Quirks can have. All For One prized it for exactly that reason. [[spoiler:It is among the Quirks Izuku and his polycule are able to outright steal from him.]]

** During their date, Izuku learns how badly some of Tsuyu's classmates treated her and asks for their names, while insisting it wouldn't be vigilantism because "[[ExactWords A pipe wrench isn't a quirk]]". Nearly fourty chapters later, Tsuyu reveals another way her classmates made fun of her, causing the Ennead to ask for some contact information. Tsuyu says she will if Izuku can prove he doesn't own a pipe wrench. [[ExactWords He doesn't, but Mei does and Momo can make more]].

** Then there's the relationship dynamics within both of the first-year hero classes. From the get-go, everyone in Class 1-A hit it off like a house on fire and get their own little subgroups of friends within. Whereas Class 1-B has to deal with Bakugo's fragile ego, Todoroki's hangups, Monoma's gadfly AntiHero facade, Kamakiri's BloodKnight tendencies, and Mineta's perversions.

* AllYourPowersCombined: All for One is a given considering its whole premise, One for All also counts by taking other Quirks and integrating them into itself, an ability it got from the base Stockpile Quirk before combining with Yoichi's to form One for All.

* ExplainExplainOhCrap: [[spoiler: When talking to Shigaraki at the mall Izuku states that part of his regular attire includes custom red shoes for the extra toe joint in Quirkless individuals. He then realizes what that means for Shigaraki.]]

* BadassNormal: [[NoSelfBuffs Akira Fuki's Quirk only allows him to empower other people]]. Apart from that, he's as powerful as a normal person can be. That doesn't mean he'll make it easy for Izuku when they fight in the tournament, though.

All three mentioned Quirks are among the eleven Izuku and his polycule outright ''steals'' from All for One, along with a copy of Super Regeneration, while 23 others are destroyed.]]

** Siphon (a villain with the power to suck the stamina of other people and add it to himself) realizes he won't be able to escape after the attack at U.A.'s Summer Camp, and tries to take a hostage - only to pick [[PowerCopying Monoma]] of all people. Monoma promptly copies Siphon's Quirk and turns it on him.

* InsaneTrollLogic: Karen Mineta first insists her son couldn't have groped anyone, then engages in BlamingTheVictim when Nezu points out that several cameras prove it, and insists that Momo "committed a war crime"... by pepper-spraying Mineta when he groped her.

** Izuku making guesses as to what species Nezu was before being experimented on. It's finally resolved in chapter 45.

* {{Squee}}: Dinosaur fan Setsuna shrieks with glee when she hears that the classes are going to Kuraudo Island for one of their study trips - the island of repopulated LivingDinosaurs.

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Destro's terrorist attacks sought to stop attempts to prevent Meta Ability-restricting laws from being approved. His brutality and hypocrisy were such that even people with Meta Abilities became in favor of such laws.

** Two years later, Izuku reminds Death Arms of how he stoodby and did nothing because he "didn't have a suitable Quirk".

** It turns out Izuku's father Hisashi is the best forensic accountant Momo's parents have and he directly reports to them. Momo's parents were initially concerned Izuku did not know this but Hisashi is able to explain why he has such an estranged relationship with his son. ** [[spoiler:Upon returning to U.A., Izuku uses Overhaul on Aoyama, and now the boy can safely use his Quirk without injuring his stomach.]]

** Due to a combination of Bakugo not being in Class 1-A, Izuku not trying to downplay Bakugo's abrasive attitude, and the Bonding Quirk ''clearly'' conveying how much Izuku hates being called "Deku", Ochako never redefines it for him, leaving it out of the running as a potential hero name. He chooses Kyuseisyu instead.

** Biggest hoist of all, [[spoiler:All for One attempts to steal One for All from Izuku. Suddenly faced with the combined will of Izuku, the Vestiges, and the Ennead, All for One ends up ''losing'' thirty-four Quirks, with eleven of them getting added to One for All - including a Super Regeneration copy, Search, and '''Overhaul'''.]] Talk about an own goal!

** When Izuku speaks with Aoyama about his Quirk, the latter mentions he was also a late bloomer [[spoiler:and that he went to a "specialist" with a history of "unlocking people's hidden Quirks". When Izuku looks at Aoyama's shoes, he and the Vestiges realize Aoyama likely got his Quirk from All for One]].

* BadassNormal: Akira Fuki's Quirk only allows him to empower other people. Apart from that, he's as powerful as a normal person can be. That doesn't mean he'll make it easy for Izuku when they fight in the tournament, though.

* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: This is Bakugo's opinion of U.A. He describes it as climbing a mountain only to realize when you get to the summit the mountain is made of garbage.

* OCStandIn: Akira Fuki, one of the General Education students trying to join the Heroics course through the Sports Festival, is one of the many background characters from the entrance exam (he was saved by Izuku during the exam and witnessed his destruction of the Zero Pointer).

* PowerIncontinence: Many Quirks have this problem due to how they express themselves.
** Yuga Aoyama's "Navel Laser" can leak if not properly contained.

** Bonding is this trope in Quirk form. As the bonded individuals develop their relationship, they can gain more power from the love fueling their relationship. It starts from granting increased empathy, and the next levels include outright telepathy, a boost to all physical abilities, teleporting to a bonded's location and [[spoiler:cheating death]].

* RuleOfSymbolism: The vestiges indicate that Izuku's bonds with the girls are based on this.
** Ochako bonds through Nana because their Quirks allow them to float and their loving natures.
** Mei bonds through Hikage because of their sense-boosting Quirks and their status as CloudCuckooLander social outcasts.
** Momo through Yoichi because his role as origin of One for All resonates with her Creation Quirk, their similar sheltered lives, and love for books.
** Tsuyu bonds through Daigoro due to how chill their personalities are (and a meta-wise reference to Izuku's "Froppy Style" Blackwhip super move).
** Toru bonds through En as both have Quirks related to hiding from their opponents.
** Melissa Shield bonds through All Might because of their shared Quirkless origins and him being her HonoraryUncle.
** Nejire Hado bonds through Isamu Mitsunami due to their energy-based Quirks.
** Yui bonds through Ryouji Futatsuya because of their TheStoic TerseTalker natures and the fact that they can control the size of an object with their Quirks. [[spoiler:Himiko temporarily bonds through Ryouji Futatsuya due to their mutual history of unrepentant body counts.]]
