And from there, the Straw-Hats sailed right into the Marine ambush.

He is then confronted by a Luffy that's way out of his league, completely losing any cool left until [[CurbStompBattle Luffy one-shots him]].

* AdaptationalBadass: All of the members of the Straw Hat Armada, past and present, but the one that bears the most mentioning is Kaya; Duncan seems to have based her personality off of Unohana from {{Manga/Bleach}}, a motherly YamatoNadeshiko ProperLady sort whose TranquilFury is nearly as potent as Conqueror’s Haki. Heck, there’s a blatant Shout-Out to Unohana shortly after Kaya is first introduced.

** As in canon, Luffy doesn’t take kindly to threats against his True Companions. But he also doesn’t take kindly to abuse of pets. Mohji, due to being his comrade when he finds that he had been neglecting feeding Richie, gets off relatively easy…with a Haki-empowered death threat.

* BodyHorror: [[spoiler:The extent of Zoro's scarring following his battle with Mihawk is described as very unpleasant to the eye; among other things, he's lost ''a chunk of his nose'', and he's got even scars on his scalp where hair may never grow back again.]]

* LogicalWeakness: While Alvida's frictionless skin makes it almost impossible to hit her, it also makes it almost impossible to hit someone else. Furthermore, she can be hit through her clothing as only her skin is frictionless.

* OfficialCouple: Usopp and Kaya.

Luffy gave her a small TheReasonYouSuckSpeech laced with Conqueror's Haki before sending her flying, and she took it to heart ''hard,'' becoming a humble good Samaritan up until she meets Luffy again and joins his crew. Heck, even after she eats the Sube Sube no Mi, she only cares about what she looks like inside.

* TranquilFury: Kaya, as seen in the ShoutOut section where she's channeling Retsu Unohana. Even ''Nami'' is terrified of her when she comes under the spotlight, and it's even enough to make Zoro and Sanji cease hostilities. [[spoiler: It shows some inkling of a SplitPersonality.]]
