* HeroesWantRedheads:
** Mathdon is immediately attracted to Pyrrha and falls in love with her. [[spoiler: In Volume 5, the two of them consummate their relationship.]]
** Nasser has feelings for his childhood friend, Octavia Ember, who’s a redhead.
** [[spoiler: Forest Kotka was in love with Summer Rose in his youth, almost to the point of getting married. Sadly, he left Ozpin’s group and she died before it could happen.]]

This or these examples of Surprisingly Realistic Outcome seem to violate at least one of these rules, which disqualifies them: No character reactions (characters get angry, don't forgive, don't change their personality instantly, etc.); Too fantastical (depends on the properties of magic, powers, sci-fi tech, monsters, etc.); Not surprising (a character was warned about the outcome, it's used to provide Karma or An Aesop, or it simply follows normal conventions for this genre or medium); Plot happens (the example only describes an event, but not why audiences would expect a different, unrealistic outcome); Not an outcome (a character just explains why something wouldn't work as expected); More of a Deconstruction (the event has major, lasting effects on the plot, make something more realistic, but not completely realistic, or a parody/fanwork applies realistic consequences to the events of a different work); or fits better under a different trope. See the trope's definition for more details. If you believe a removal was a mistake, please bring it up in the cleanup thread.

* SparedByTheAdaptation: [[spoiler: Pyrrha survives the Fall of Beacon and manages to wound Cinder. However, she is still shot through the torso and heel, but survives thanks to Forest Kotka saving her.]]* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** After failing to apprehend Roman Torchwick, Team RWBY, Sun and Neptune are arrested by the Vale Special Unit for reckless endangerment of civilians and interfering with their investigation. Ozpin barters for their release on the condition that they be kept on school grounds.
** Sun Wukong’s kleptomaniac tendencies cause many problems for him. It causes him to get on the VSU’s bad side and earns him the enmity of Nasser Achdarr. In Menagerie, this causes Ghira to kick him out of his house after he’s stolen one too many times.
** The portrayal of Huntsmen and Huntresses. Some become Huntsmen to defend the innocent, but some only do it for money, glory, fame and recognition. For sixty-five years, Huntsmen were above the law and could do as they please without consequence. Their crimes rose so badly that Special Units were created with the legal authority to arrest them.
** Yang’s actions in the ‘Yellow’ trailer come back to bite her after she’s framed for hurting Mercury. This causes General Ironwood to doubt Yang’s innocence and states that he’d expel her for such behavior if he was her Headmaster.
** Ozpin’s tendency to keep secrets and his decision to [[spoiler: force Pyrrha to take the Fall Maiden’s powers]] cost him almost everyone’s trust in him.

* AdaptationalHeroism: Adam Taurus is considerably more sympathetic and caring towards his fellow Faunus. He tries to take Sienna prisoner, but is forced to kill her when she fights back. Instead of him ordering the attack on the Belladonnas, the Albains do in the hopes of becoming High Leaders.

* AdaptationalVillainy: Jacques Schnee is certainly much more villainous than in canon. He engages in human and Faunus trafficking, killed Adam’s parents and beat him severely, has Klein beaten after finding out he helped Weiss escape and for insulting him, had associates killed if they posed a problem to his own agenda, and hires Huntsmen to kidnap his daughter.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: Mathdon was abused by his father.

* DarkAndTroubledPast: All of the protagonists had major crap happen in their lives.

Mathdon was abused by his father.

** The lengths the Iron Knights are willing to go to destroy the Huntsmen. [[spoiler: Berserkers infuse their bodies with Dust, turning them into muscle bound monsters. The Oni enhance their bodies with cybernetics, turning their blood into a blue sludge and hideously deforming their features.]]
** Jacques Schnee’s crimes are much more emphasized. He willingly commits murder at least twice, engages in human and Faunus trafficking, has bribed Huntsmen to kidnap his daughter and willingly funds the Wild Hunt’s terrorism.

Huntsmen.

** Donovan Katur is the abusive father to Mathdon and Safirlas Kendrick. He was verbally and emotionally abusive towards his family, blamed them for his choices, had no qualms about losing his temper or lying to them, and constantly put himself as the victim. His unwillingness to take responsibility for his actions and constantly disregarding his children as worthless definitely makes him unpopular. [[spoiler: It’s later revealed that Mathdon was Trenton Brownwood’s son. Corcra planned to take the unborn Math and young Safirlas to Atlas with Trenton, but he died before it happened. Really showed how much Donovan failed to be a husband and father.]]

** Jason Currant bullied Math for his weight and Asperger’s at Aurum and wrongfully got him expelled. When he first appears, he is arrogant and continuously insults Mathdon. [[spoiler: He reappears in Volume 6 while Math and Pyrrha are at a sushi bar. He proceeds to repeatedly call Math a ‘retard’, dismisses his role in the Battle of Haven, tries to move on Pyrrha, even forcefully grabbing her, and blames Math for not getting into Beacon, completely ignoring that he had cheated and was often given a free pass by Aurum’s Headmaster. When Math pushes him, he tells his teammates to attack them. Afterwards, when militia arrive, Jason tries to blame Math, but falls on deaf ears. Everyone in the bar is disgusted by Jason’s behavior, especially calling Mathdon a ‘retard’.]]

** [[spoiler: Yang is called out by Luna several times for being so demanding of important info being shared, yet keeps Raven being the Spring Maiden a secret from everyone. When Pyrrha reveals the truth to her teammates, the next time they meet Yang, they call her out on her hypocritical decision to keep the truth about Raven from them.]]

* InvincibleVillain: Jinn claims that Salem cannot be killed. Even though Ozpin has a plan to use the Silver Eyes, it’s rather flimsy at best. As of right now, it’s assumed that Salem cannot be killed. [[spoiler: It’s later confirmed by Jinn that the Silver Eyes will break Salem’s control over Grimm, but she will still be immortal. Those who can kill her are the Dark Heralds, the descendents of an ancient line possessing powers from the God of Darkness, who are currently Mathdon, Safirlas, and Robin.]]

** Raven refuses to acknowledge how her decisions affect her situation or relationships with her family, instead blaming everyone else. She uses her philosophy of Darwinism to justify her atrocities, never taking responsibility. [[spoiler: Even around Taiyang, she still seems to deflect the blame at times, making him impatient and angry towards her at times.]]

* AdaptationalPersonalityChange: Ozpin. [[spoiler: During the events of Volume 3, after Pyrrha refuses to go into the Aura chamber, Ozpin knocks her unconscious and forces her into it, damaging his trust in the other students after they learn the truth.]] He's also more of a ControlFreak, often insisting that things need to go his way to prevent panic from breaking out. His lies and half-truths are also more focused on, [[spoiler: such as Valkoin claiming to have used a question from the Relic of Knowledge, withholding information that got Forest's teammate, Trenton, killed, and not telling Summer Rose about his plan to use the Silver Eyes against Salem.]] When the extend of his lies and hypocrisy are revealed, everyone no longer trusts him.

* FireForgedFriends: Team MRRN survives a deadly mission, fought in the Fall of Beacon, [[spoiler: rescued Professor Goodwitch]], battled the Iron Knights many times and helped defend Haven Academy. She uses her philosophy of Darwinism to justify her atrocities, never taking responsibility. ** Nachtfel adamantly blames the Huntsmen and their allies for victimizing innocent people. When he’s called out by Team MRRN, he deflects the blame onto his victims for standing with the Huntsmen.
** Donovan Katur is one of the worst examples of this trope. He refuses to take responsibility for his choices, always blaming everyone else for what he does. No matter how many people call him out, he won’t accept responsibility for how he mistreated his family.
