Hajime ends up punching him in the jaw, giving him a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech and cutting ties with him and Chiaki all together. Thankfully, they manage to work it out and restore their friendship after Jin's announcement of the Ultimate Talent Development Program, although things are still awkward between Makoto and Hajime.]]

Kyosuke wished to use the result of his friends' investigation to blackmail the Steering Committee, whom he said was the sources of all problems, to make him the next Headmaster, without fixing any of the problems there if not making them worse. While Juzo doesn't mind this in the slightest, Chisa, who genuinely wanted to help everyone in school and 'not just a selected few', falls out of love with Kyosuke, sprays both of them with her drink, gets Juzo fired after telling Makoto and Jin about their meeting, and ignores Kyosuke's calls and messages afterwards.]]

As a result, Jin had no choice but to give Kyoko to Fuhito, but on the condition that she could meet with her maternal grandparents so that she could get some proper love]].

* DisabledInTheAdaptation: In canon, Mahiru's father was simply a lazy bum, but the fanfic has him suffer [[spoiler: from an anxiety disorder, brought on by learning that his war photographer wife was injured due to a bomb explosion, losing his job after he suffered an anxiety attack. Because of Japan's conservative opinion about the mentally unwell, he hides his condition from his daughter, remembering how sad she was when she tried to tell her peers her mother wasn't there because of her job and instead said Mahiru's mother abandoned her and feeling that it would worsen if she found out he was "crazy"]].

* NewFriendEnvy: Suffice to say, Sato does not take Mahiru's friendship with, and later crush on, Makoto too well. Namely, she is jealous of how Makoto's words encouragement against Natsumi's bullying hold more weight than hers did, and [[spoiler: it spurns her, with encouragement from Junko, to frame Makoto for her attempt to murder Natsumi]].

* PoorCommunicationKills: In chapter 16, ''Everyday Life with Li'l Ultimates'', Makoto, working as a teacher's aide, is put to work with the Warriors of Hope, and all of them become very attached to him and he becomes close to them as well. In doing so, [[spoiler: he's able to figure out that [[AbusiveParents something's wrong with their home lives]], and works alongside Miaya Gekkogahara, Hope's Peak Elementary's nurse and his grandfather (a judge) to help them out. However, the stress of trying to help their various problems and the reality of the bureaucracy being too slow to help out causes him to repeat the MadnessMantra "It'll all be over soon" in getting them the help they need. Unfortunately, the Warriors of Hope misunderstand what he means, and believe that they are so draining to deal with that Makoto is counting the days until he can leave. After another horrible day, they believe he's done dealing with them, and this is what spurns them to [[DrivenToSuicide commit suicide]]. When Makoto comes back and sees the suicide note, [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone he's horrified]] to see them apologize for seemingly upsetting him, though thankfully, he is able to [[InterruptedSuicide save them]] and have them testify about their home lives, [[EarnYourHappyEnding earning them]] [[HappilyAdopted new home lives free of abuse]].]] The trope is even [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]].
