* DramaPreservingHandicap: While the original Digidestined had 'internalised' the power of their Crests by the time of the final battle with Apocalymon, their reals in the real world have caused that power to weaken, restricting their partners to Champion forms save for particularly dire situations (such as [[spoiler:Kari being sent to the Dark World or TK and Patamon facing Blackwargreymon alone]]), necessitating their later quest to restore the Crests.

* EvilKnockoff: As well as Blackwargreymon, at one point Arukenimon lures the Digidestined into a trap by creating a Spire-born duplicate of Zudomon that they assume is Gomamon under the control of a Dark Spiral, until it’s destroyed by Ikkakumon and Submarimon.

Added DiffLines:

* NobleDemon: Blackwargreymon comes across as this, as while he’ll beat the Digidestined Digimon into unconsciousness he never kills them if they can’t fight back, up to the point of sparing Gabumon.

** Sora has retained much of her first-series personality. In canon, she adopts a more girlish personality after [[Anime/DigimonAdventure original adventure]], such as playing tennis instead of soccer, becoming a YamatoNadeshiko flower seller with little trace of her tomboyish personality, and as an adult, become a fashion designer. Here, her tomboyish nature continued to develop rather than abate, becoming the captain of the girls soccer team, [[GetAHoldOfYourselfMan slapping Yolei when she gets hysterical]], giving a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech facing down Gargomon, and straight up punching Yolei, [[spoiler: who was being a bitch and ridiculing Sora [[KickTheDog over her parents and her feelings for Tai]]]].

* CripplingOverspecialization: Not exactly ‘crippling’, but while Izzy is still the smartest of the Digidestined when dealing with computers, he admits that Yolei is better at actually hacking computers than he is, with his own speciality being pure research and analysis.

* IgnoredAesop: Cody's grandfather is always encouraging him to maintain an open mind, but while Cody respects his grandfather, he always ignores this advice when dealing with Ken no matter how many other people come to believe he's changed.

*BecomingTheMask: An interesting variation of this; [[spoiler:while Davis, Yolei and Cody always thought they were ‘real’ Digidestined, even after they learn that they were just pawns in Oikawa’s grand plan, they resolve to keep fighting for the Digital World, with the ‘originals’ accepting them as allies regardless of their origins]].

* TheFriendsWhoNeverHang: When [[spoiler:Yolei is possessed by Jachomon, Tai and Matt basically fill this role for her, as the only humans who can't say anything nice to help her come back to herself as they just don't know her that well (could also apply to Joe, but he was elsewhere during the confrontation)]].

Unfortunately their leader is extremely prejudicial against all humans and can't seem to get it through his head the Digidestined are the good guys. As time goes on they begin [[ThoseWackyNazis to devolve and get even more trigger-happy]]. Matters aren't helped when Gargomon [[spoiler: gets transformed into Blackrapidmon and destroys the Resistance in a blind rage]].

* {{Hypocrite}}: Hard to argue that this doesn't apply to Cody for the most part; he is one of the most vehement against just killing their opponents even when the original Digidestined argue that it's the only option (and most of the time they're right) because he says that criminals should be arrested and given a chance to consider their actions, but he consistently refuses to believe that Ken's changed from the Digimon Emperor even after the rest of the team recognise that.

** Although not as aloof as he was in the original series, Matt is much less open to trusting the new Digidestined, and comes off as constantly agitated due to feelings of being replaced by new children, who did not have to brave the wilderness of the Digital World to earn their roles. This is further compounded by his stalled musical career, dealing with Jun's constant advances, and Gabumon's capture by the Digimon Emperor.
** Cody has been ramped up into an ArrogantKungFuGuy. Placing honor above friendship, he constantly struggles with the more easy-going nature of the other Digidestined, and even moreso when Ken attempts to reform, unwilling to believe the Digimon Emperor was capable of atonement.
