The story revolves around 16 Ultimates trapped inside the facilities of the mysterious Hope's Peak Sanctuary, and forced to play a killing game dubbed '''Killing Sanctuary Exam'''. Unlike other killing game, however, this one is directly inspired by the game of Ultimate Werewolf. All of the roles of the game (such as the Bodyguard and the Seer) are either taken literally into their talent or as symbolism of the characters' personalities and actions in the story.
