* FullFrontalAssault: Makima ends up doing this near the end of her fight with Leviathan, as a result of the massive amounts of ClothingDamage her outfit's taken earlier.

* TheBeastmaster: Makima tells Dragon she can [[ExactWords control lesser beings]], giving her a Master ranking, and leading them to conclude that she can only control animals, [[spoiler:leaving out the part that she can human beings, as well.]]

* CallingYourAttacks: Makima's "finger guns". Legend notes she's not the only one to do that on Earth-Bet e.g. Mouse Protector.

* DeliberateValuesDissonance: Downplayed. Makima states that while she enjoys superhero movies, she has no desire to dress like one, believing that they look ridiculous. Director Rennick muses Makima might be experiencing Culture Shock on Earth-Bet.

** When questioned by Dragon and Watchdog regarding whether she can Master others, Makima states that her powers only work on "lower-lifeforms", leading them to assume she can only control animals, completely leaving out the fact that being the "Control Devil" her power applies to anything she considers "lower lifeforms", which includes humans.

* AndThereWasMuchRejoicing: People around the globe celebrate Leviathan's demise, praising Makima for taking him out. Director Armstrong is described as being on the verge of singing and dancing at hearing the news.

* FailureHero: Many residents of Brockton Bay see their local Protectorate as this, especially when compared to Makima.

* RunningBothSides: [[spoiler:Makima leads the Public Safety Bureau (publicly) and the ABB (in secret) now that she has many its memebers, including all three Parahumans, Mastered.]]

* UndignifiedDeath: At Makima's mercy Lung believes he's going to die powerless, [[DyingAlone alone]], completely naked, drowning in a puddle of his own StressVomit at the hands a woman because [[ItAmusedMe she felt like it]] and never heard of him, believing he wasted his life. Not a dignified end for the Dragon of Kyushu. [[spoiler:Then, he gets a second trigger and Makima decides to spare his life.]]

** [[spoiler:Oni Lee]] dies in a car crash caused by an assassin, which much more quicker and painless than being turned into Bonesaw's toys in canon.

* [[WorldsStrongestMan World's Strongest Woman]]: Makima is regarded as this [[spoiler:after defeating Leviathan]]. It's noted that the only ones on Earth-Bet that have a chance of beating her in a fair fight are [[AllYourPowersCombined Eidolon]], [[PhysicalGod Scion]], and the [[spoiler:remaining]] [[{{Kaiju}} Endbringers]]. Taylor notes she's strong enough to join the Triumvirate.

* OlderThanTheyLook: Tattletale's power tells her Makima is 23-years-old, but she's ''much'' older than that. You wouldn't guess her true age based on her youthful looks alone.

* FauxAffablyEvil: True to form, Makima puts on the image of a friendly, loving woman making the locals of Earth-Bet believe she's a superhero from another world that wants to help, rather than a literal Devil.
* FeedItWithFire: As a being empowered by the fear of being controlled, Makima is in many ways the exact worst opponent for the Simurgh, seeing as how the Simurgh has basically become synonymous with people being controlled or puppetered against their will and most of its plans involve controlling people and directing them, pretty much any action taken by the Simurgh only increases Makima's power.

* BadGuysDoTheDirtyWork: Makima is the one to permanently defeat [[spoiler:Leviathan]] and drive most of the villains out of Brockton Bay, not that the people of Earth-Bet realize Makima's true nature.

* DevilInDisguise: Makima is quite literally this as in the manga, as she is the Control Devil and a SatanicArchetype who uses her beautiful human appearance to pretend to be one. Especially, as she has defeated an Endbringer leading most of Earth-Bet to view her as humanity's savior.

* IgnoredEpiphany: PlayedForLaughs. Makima ''still'' wants to get rid of bad movies to create her perfect world.

* PayEvilUntoEvil: InUniverse, [[spoiler:after Leviathan's defeat at Makima's hands]], when a couple of PHO commenters are somewhat disapproving of Makima [[spoiler:tearing Lung in half in the midst of fighting Leviathan]], several others dismiss their concerns by stating that Lung ran a [[SexSlave forced prostitution ring]] and as such, deserves NoSympathy, with some even hoping she killed him.

* HopeBringer: Director Armstrong sees Makima as this [[spoiler:after she takes out an Endbringer]]. DramaticIrony, considering how in her home series, Makima's very much the HopeCrusher.

* WhatTheHellHero: Director Renick and Armstrong call out Director Tagg and Piggot for wanting to release Makima's PRT threat ratings, including being a [[PeoplePuppets Master]], despite having no concrete proof she can MindControl people. Armstrong goes on further saying they need Makima on their side to help rebuild their tarnished reputation, rather than turn her against them.

* WhyDontYouJustShootHim: The Simurgh refrains from attacking Makima alongside Behemoth, despite Makima having been sufficiently weakened that she'd be easy prey for the both of them working together. {{Justified|Trope}}, in that Makima is shown to provide a veritable treasure trove of new information and concepts that the Simurgh hasn't encountered before and one of its primary functions is to gather and analyze information, thus making her hesitant to destroy Makima and thus depriving it of that information store, especially given that the amount of information she's deriving from Earth Bet has begun to plateau.

* WorldsStrongestWoman: Makima is regarded as this [[spoiler:after defeating Leviathan]]. It's noted that the only ones on Earth-Bet that have a chance of beating her in a fair fight are [[AllYourPowersCombined Eidolon]], [[PhysicalGod Scion]], and the [[spoiler:remaining]] [[{{Kaiju}} Endbringers]]. Taylor notes she's strong enough to join the Triumvirate.
* WouldHurtAChild: Makima kills [[spoiler:Emma]], who's a teenager, in order to drink her blood to kick-start her [[HealingFactor regeneration]] after having been maimed by Leviathan.

** While being given a CurbStompBattle by Makima, Lung compares the HopelessBossFight he's in and her calm demeanour to the one he had fighting Leviathan back in Kyushu, as well as [[spoiler:[[InvincibleVillain Contessa]], the woman who triggered him and killed his school friends.]]
