* TheEmpire: Many of the Doctors enemies have formed their own multi-planet empires, particularly the Daleks and the Cybermen. The Master even tried to form his own "Time Lord Empire" during the "Year that Never Was" with the Earth as the center.

*ForcedDancePartner: In "The Giggle", the Toymaker and his duplicates storm UNIT headquarters to the tune of "Spice Up Your Life" by the Music/SpiceGirls. He drags Kate and Mel into a forced dance to both mock them and demonstrate his power over them before sending both spinning across the floor and into the nearest wall. This illustrates his playful LargeHam personality as well as how easily he can mess with the heroes for giggles.

* DyingReconcilliation: Played with at the start of Series 9. Davros is dying, and has asked for The Doctor to come. The Doctor does. Davros and The Doctor have a lengthy conversation over a great many topics, such as Davros expressing joy for The Doctor at having reclaimed Gallifrey from the fires of the Time War, reminding The Doctor of his words from "Genesis of the Daleks" [[note]]In the original clip, The Doctor is asking if someone pointed out Hitler as a child, would you eliminate the child or try to reform them. We are meant to think that this is a TakeThat at The Doctor for abandoning Davros in a field of Hand Mines on a war torn Skaro as a child. Only later do we learn that it is Davros pointing out that The Doctor had spared him as a child.[[/note]]. They even share a genuine, heartfelt laugh when The Doctor expressed doubt that Davros was dying, and Davros quips that [[NotThatKindOfDoctor "You...are not a very good Doctor."]] The Doctor even gives Davros some of his regeneration energy to allow him to open his eyes, and for one brief moment, he's not some ageless, deathless monster, but a frail old man. [[spoiler:Of course, it was all a ploy by Davros to steal The Doctor's regeneration energy so that the Daleks would have that ability, but The Doctor had seen through the ruse and known that the decaying sludge in the sewers that were the dying Daleks would turn against their healthy compatriots in their bitterness and hatred.]]

* FamilialChiding: The Doctor and various companions often have this sort of dyamic.
** After tricking the 11th Doctor into showing her a visual record of all previous TARDIS occupants, Amy playfully does this when she comes across a picture of Leela, "Oi, Doctor, is that a leather bikini?"
** The two part segments "Time" and "Space". After an absurdly short skirt inadvertantly leads to a dropped thermo-coupler and the TARDIS materializing inside itself, the 11th Doctor has this to say:
---> '''The Doctor:''' OK. We're back in normal flight, the TARDIS is no longer inside itself, the localised time field is no longer about to implode and rip a hole in all causality, but just in case... ''Pond, put some trousers on.''

* DamselInDistress and DistressedDude: The Doctor, in varying degrees throughout all their incarnations; most if not all of the companions, whether male or female, at some time or another; assorted bystanders of both sexes. Seriously, having someone taken prisoner or menaced by the MonsterOfTheWeek is one of the standard plots.

* DiedInIgnorance: Played for Horror in "The Empty Child"/"The Doctor Dances". [[spoiler:The Empty Child of the title, Jamie, was killed in a World War II bombing raid before he could find out who his mother was. Because of that, [[CameBackWrong what's left of him]], empowered by alien Nanogenes, becomes ''obsessed'' with finding his "mummy", unwittingly spreading his affliction throughout London. Jamie's mother revealing herself becomes the key to bringing him back and stopping the infection, subverting the trope.]]
