Dillon Merry is a main character featuring in the first few episodes of [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/DarthWiki/Blackwater Blackwater]], however he dies pretty early on. His death is the cause of many later events, and sets up the series itself. He is the good-hearted mayor of Blackwater, before being murdered by Barclay under Ames's orders. He is extremely naive, and is one of the few people in town who doesn't know about all of the legal deeds the sherrif is committing. He is part of the NeutralGood alignment.

He prospected for several years, and was one of the few people in town who actually made something of it. He found quite a lot of gold, and ended up becoming quite wealthy. He was the one who ended up hiring people to build the town, and titled himself the mayor of the town. He served as the mayor for several years, and was completely oblivious to the reality that a good friend of his, the former sherrif of Blackwater (Barclay Brown) is actually helping run the crime in the town. He does in fact know of Rupert's crimes however he is too cowardly to stand up and deal with that himself, so he attempts to hire a bounty hunter to deal with it. The bounty hunter he sends out is named Merryweather and also works as a lawman in Blackwater who has attempted to put an end to Barclay's schemes, however it never works out (He does this all without Barclay's knowledge). Merryweather is caught trying to kill Rupert by one of his enforcers - Boone Clayton. Boone plans to kill him - however he cannot bring himself to do it. He instead shoots Merryweather in the shoulder so that there is blood on the floor to make it appear as something happened, and to show the others that he shot someone. He then lets him loose into a wooded area near Blackwater.
