Norio Wakamoto, born on October 18, 1945 in Shimonoseki, Japan, was an anti-riot squad officer who saw action in the Shinjuku riots in 1968 before he became a voice actor after he graduated from the Nakano Police Academy. Wakamoto said that he left the force after questioning whether he should be in the force. He joined the Consumers Union of Japan, but Wakamoto also left after getting into trouble with his boss for not seeking their approval before he did his work. Afterwards, Wakamoto signed up for voice acting after he saw an application for anyone to join Ryo Kurosawa's training school for upcoming voice actors. He later met Tohokushinsha's dubbing director, Kanji Nakano, who encouraged him to go into voice acting.
