* DoingItForTheArt: Invoked in the real review of ''Film/MammaMia'', as both of them slam Meryl Streep for not doing this and not taking a hit to her reputation by breaking her contract to get out of the movie.

* Creator/TommyWiseau, director/writer/producer/actor/possibly-alien from ''Film/TheRoom''.

* OohMeAccentsSlipping: Whenever Doug tries to do an accent it inevitably turns into some sort of weird Eastern European accent. See his "How To Be a Pirate" videos and his contributions to Lupa's [[Film/TheRoom Tommy Wiseau]] videos for examples.

** In ''Film/TheRoom'' commentary, he says he gave the benefit of the doubt in regards to thinking "John from the room movie dot com" and Tommy Wiseau were the same person, but from the very beginning he made "Wiseau's accent came through the email" jokes.

* TalkingToHimself: He does have loads of characters, and sometimes they interact with each other. In ''Interstellar'', he has a ''long'' chat with the “main character” of the movie, trying to explain to “him” that he should be a real person and not just exposition. To his credit he did warn the audience in the beginning that he was going to go a bit demented.

* UnacceptableTargets: Invoked. After Rob likens the Fire Nation to post-UsefulNotes/WorldWarII Japan, Doug gets squirmy, tells the audience they ''like'' the Japanese, and does his best to change the comparison to Nazi Germany instead.

* WeAllLiveInAmerica: He's gone on weird rants about his country being too rebellious at least twice, and as he's talking about the Asian-based ''Avatar'', it comes off as even stranger.

* SuperOCD:
** Refers to himself as the "OCD guy" in "The Painted Lady", though it's more about obsessing over work and scheduling than it is about the usual "being clean".
** He brings it up in "Wizard", where he talks about being really invested in seeing them fill up that space on their cloaks "but that could just be OCD" though.
** About a minute in to ''The Limit'', he interrupts the plot summation to center the camera because "my OCD is driving me nuts".
** He mentions it in ''Weirdmageddon 2'', when they're talking about the show ending after two seasons, that he needs to have things in groups of 3 because of his OCD.

** Averted when it comes to Trump, as in ''WesternAnimation/TheLorax'' real thoughts, they briefly talk about people not being informed about what was going on either side, and that played a part in him getting elected.

** In "Boss Mabel", when they're talking about MagnumOpusDissonance, all Doug cares about at the end is that reviews like ''Film/ManOfSteel'' and ''WesternAnimation/TheLorax'' got a lot of views and people talked about them.

** His need for this trope has got him in trouble with other producers, with even him feeling awful in the commentary for not getting that the drill scene in TBF was rapey, [[Administrivia/RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgement and that's all we'll say]].

** His characters run the gamut of reactions. Critic tried to bolt his closet door shut by complaining in a [[Administrivia/RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgement not well beloved]] editorial about the fanfic always making him gay, Donnie had a desperate-to-be-loved moment of wanting slash of himself, and Jimbroth snides in the DVD promo that there's too much slash in the fandom.

** He used to love the ''Film/{{Twilight}}'' movies in a SoBadItsGood manner, but ''Breaking Dawn'' made him feel so dirty that he's very close to tears in his own review.

* AluminiumChristmasTrees: In the Forced Viewing July podcast, he recommends both [[http://www.alcohollywood.com/ Alcohollywood]] and [[http://mentalpod.com/ The Mental Illness]]. They sound like joke shows but they're both real.

More specifically, he really hates the LiarRevealed trope, which he brings up in his ''Creator/{{DreamWorks|Animation}}''-uary videos, as they used it pretty often. He also hates TheBully, [[AfricanChant African chanting]]/OneWomanWail, the ThirdActMisunderstanding. [[invoked]]

* MostWritersAreMale: He discusses this ([[MaleGaze and]] [[PositiveDiscrimination other]] [[MenAreGenericWomenAreSpecial related]] DoubleStandard [[WomenAreWiser tropes]]) in the "Top 11 Favorite NC Jokes", detailing how ridiculous it is that male writers are almost ''scared'' to give their female characters flaws and personalities.

* YouKeepUsingThatWord:
** Just try to figure out what Doug thinks the word "filler" means after watching his Disneycember reviews of the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse.
** He also has a noble but overly broad view of what queerbaiting is, thinking To Boldly Flee did that because ship teased men weren't shown having sex.

** UpToEleven at the end of "Red Throne", where Jori gets up to leave, and he screams at her to stay and smile while she cries, and he crazy talks to the audience that it's a happy family.

* RantInducingSlight: Doug's had a few, but Rob can just as easily be so ranty from something small that Doug will have to ask a couple of times if they can move on already.

** The fandom's tendency to listen to Rob more than Doug (reaction to said listening varying of course) was ranted about in the opening of ''Film/LastActionHero'', as people giving Rob more heat for the ''Film/MortalKombat'' bashing and ignoring Doug, apparently pissed Doug off. They then say that because Rob told everyone about this, people will like Rob again and treat Doug like shit. Also mentioned in the real thoughts on ''Film/FaceOff'' where Rob says that even if he makes a mistake people will usually attribute it to Doug.

** The opening to the real review of ''Film/LastActionHero'' has Rob calling Doug out ranting about how people who like ''Film/MortalKombat'' are pussies while in the video he was doing the "like what you like" thing. Doug just thanks him for the sabotage and how everyone will think he's the dick now.

** When Doug talks about watching ''Film/MortalKombat'' as a teenager and realizing sexism was a thing, Rob {{Sarcasm Mode}}s that he's a social justice warrior to TakeThat at the part of fandom that think any mention of sexism as a bad thing is PoliticalOvercorrectness.

Critic was nearly crying at the thought of Lupa listening to what he wanted in ''Simon Sez'', even Ask That Guy is an InsecureLoveInterest, Chester is needy for friends, Donnie did a whole film by himself because he wanted to make Tacoma proud, Rachel goes to extreme lengths just to get a "happy birthday" from Critic, Malcolm enables Hyper Fangirl because he needs someone to talk to, and Tamara might be a badass BastardGirlfriend but she still just wants to be included.

** In the ''Film/It2017'' reboot review, Rob calls the ''It'' book like "Stand By Me with sexual abuse and bullying" and Doug nerviously laughs that it has every kind of abuse you can imagine.

* SomethingCompletelyDifferent: In the ''50 Shades Darker'' Sibling Rivalry, Doug actually hadn't seen it (or even read the books aside from some bits), so it's an hour of Rob ranting about the film.

** In ''On The Run'', Doug talks about how even though he loves ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls'' more overall, ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'' and ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' have better more relatable messages for kids and adults.
** In ''Mockingjay Part II'', he hopes it'll get young people thinking "the world isn't out to get me, but I shouldn't trust everything either" and that it's less good vs evil and more the best situation to the worst situation.

In his vlog of ''The Boxtrolls'' he complains that because of Chicago weather he's had an asthma relapse after being free of it for a couple of decades.

** At Midwest Media Expo, his advice for people with anxiety was to tell them that he has an emergency back-up telling him to act like he's confident and having fun and not let everyone know he's actually freaking out. He also said in the Finland con that commercials do genuinely calm him down when he's feeling anxious, to the point where he has a DVD of them.
** In "Doug's Sick", he talks about how he's had this one virus every year since 2013, and how it sucks because his voice goes and he gets contagious pink eye.

** Doug really hated the ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'' episode "Keep Beach City Weird", but he loved Pearl's line about humans wanting something to fight when really they have no control and can't do anything about it so much that if the ep had been those five seconds he would have been happy. Also, despite his [hatred for Ronaldo, he admits to getting a laugh from his line "[[{{Wangst}} I am full]], [[SuddenlyShouting OF SADNESS]]" in ''Restaurant Wars.''
** Doug likes a lot of things about ''Film/Ghostbusters2016'' movie, even though he's "meh to mildly positive" on the final product, but notably he admits that it (especially how the girls do more action) made him realize the flaws of the original which he still thinks is perfect.
** He's not interested in ''Pokémon'' at all, but admits in real thoughts that he likes Team Rocket because of their MasculineGirlFeminineBoy dynamic.

* RaisedCatholic: Doug said he attended Catholic school when he was a kid in his ''WesternAnimation/MelodyTime'' review.
** In some of his flashback videos, Catholic items (and a church) are seen. In his video "Off to Defeat the Nerd," he asks Rob what they were bapitized as.
** In ''Film/TheOddLifeOfTimothyGreen'' review, he calls God "the Life of the World to Come, Amen." That title is actually the last line of the Nicene Creed.
** He explains in "Wizards Only Fools" that he was raised Roman Catholic, but as he was growing up he started to like other religions more, and now he's just agnostic and tries to be good.
** With the religious themes in ''Series/{{Daredevil|2015}}'', the Walkers mention this a lot in the vlogs. Rob in particular is amused by all the Catholic guilt that comes with that background.
** In "It Could Have Been Great", Doug talks about how the religion you're raised on is always going to be a part of you, and Rob says he'll have catholic guilt until the day he dies.
