* Olga Pataki, the 20-year-old sister of Helga Pataki on ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold''. Not only does she get top grades, is a Valedictiorian, humanitarian and has her own trophy room, but she's gorgeous and tends to steal the lime light at any given second. Everyone adores her... except her sister. Their parents even love her more than Helga.
** Not to mention that, despite having a good heart, poor Olga has ''terrible'' problems of her own. The fact that [[StageMom the Pataki parents]] dote on her so much has caused Olga to become a StepfordSmiler who collapses in tears at the slightest evidence that something may go wrong. As a result, while she plays this role to Lila and others who are outside the family, she and Helga are pretty distant -- and sometimes Helga comes off as more mentally strong than Olga does.

* Yumi Ishiyama from ''WesternAnimation/CodeLyoko''. Johnny sure thinks that Hiroki has a Cool Big Sis.
* Jazmine "Jazz" Fenton in ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom'' becomes this after the season 1 episode 'My Brother's Keeper'.
* [[WesternAnimation/{{Doug}} Doug's]] older sister Judy was both this and a BrattyTeenageDaughter at the same time. Judy is ostensibly considered one of the main antagonists of the series yet she gets plenty of heartwarming scenes with Doug. This is most likely the end result of Judy gaining new respect for Doug after he willingly gave back a large amount of cash to the old woman who lost it, even though the money was now legally Doug's.
* ''WesternAnimation/DuckTales2017'':
** Lena is this for the rest of the kids, but especially to her best friend Webby who describes her as "a noble teen ne'er-do-well who can break into anything, including your heart". She also embraces the role for Violet after being adopted into the Sabrewing family.
** Huey, Dewey, and Louie's MissingMom, Della, was described as being like this to everyone she met by her friend [[PalsWithJesus Selene]]. [[spoiler:This ends up getting PlayedForDrama when she finally manages to reunite with her kids when they are ten years old, as having zero experience actually raising them causes her to act more like one of these at best and a PushoverParents at worst to the triplets, rather than a [[ToughLove proper mother]], being terrified of alienating her kids again and having trouble realizing the damage this could lead to.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/FatherOfThePride'': Though usually viewing Hunter as an Annoying Younger Sibling, Sierra has moments where she actually gets along with Hunter.
* Frankie acts as one to Mac in ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends'' to the point where people unfamiliar with the show have mistaken the two for siblings. Whatever the case, it's quite useful for a boy constantly bullied by his [[BigBrotherBully biological older brother]] to have someone else to look up to.
* Wendy acts as a surrogate one to Mabel in ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls''. This is best demonstrated in "Society of the Blind Eye" where she helps Mabel talk about her "Summer Romances" problem. Subverted with her and Dipper though, namely because she sees him as an equal friend and vice versa (though Dipper sees her more than a friend.)
** Also played somewhat straight with Mabel, who is five minutes older and a millimeter taller than Dipper.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Grojband}}'': Unlike [[CainAndAbel Corey and Trina]]'s relationship, Mina to Carrie seem to get along. However, Trina is implied to have once been this when Corey takes a JourneyToTheCenterOfTheMind and encounters a sweet, caring, and younger version of Trina named Katrina whom Trina locked away years ago.
* Jerrica Benton of ''WesternAnimation/{{Jem}}'' plays this role for the kids at her orphanage and to her blood sister Kimber; the rest of the band are downplayed but present examples as well.
* Flash from ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague Unlimited'' considers Hawkgirl as one of these. In his words:
-->"She loves me. She's like the big sister I never had. Only, y'know, short."
* WesternAnimation/KimPossible, actually the eponymous main character of her show.
** Also, when her [[ArchEnemy nemesis]] Shego was turned good and became her friend, Kim described her "like a big sister".
* ''WesternAnimation/LesSisters'': DependingOnTheWriter, Wendy may be one of these to her younger sister Marine. She often helps her with her problems and gives her good advice.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheLoudHouse'':
** While Lincoln has five older sisters, it's Luna he seems to have the healthiest relationship with, and thus looks up to her.
** However, Leni seems to be a close second. Usually.
** Some of the sisters could also be considered this to each other:
*** Lori towards Leni (due to similar personalities and their relationship as best friends).
*** Lynn towards Lana (both roughhousing tomboys with similar interests and personalities).
*** Lori and Leni towards Lola (they are older versions of her).
*** Luan towards Lucy (both are interested in performance arts and Luan was a mentor to Lucy in "Head Poet's Anxiety").
*** All of the sisters towards Lily (multiple episodes about Lily tend to revolve around the sibling group as a whole making an effort to look after or help their youngest sister).
* ''WesternAnimation/TheCasagrandes'':
** Carlota is this to Ronnie Anne, comforting her when she is sad and speaking warmly and loving to her. "Yes My Dear".
* ''WesternAnimation/MikeLuAndOg'': Mike is this to Lu and Og.
* On ''WesternAnimation/MiloMurphysLaw,'' Sara seems to have escaped the HereditaryCurse that befell her brother [[BornUnlucky Milo]], but is incredibly close to him despite the very, ''very'' high chance that his presence will destroy whatever fun they try to have together.
** Milo's old babysitter Veronica, introduced in "Secrets and Pies", has this relationship with him, insisting on personally delivering the pizza he's ordered and ruffling his hair while saying he earned the AwesomeBackpack he inherited from her.
* Stephanie is this on ''WesternAnimation/MoralOrel'', particularly to the titular character.
* Mike Chilton's older sister Capri in ''WesternAnimation/{{MotorCity}}''.
* Jenny to Tuck in WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'':
** Twilight Sparkle to Spike. At times, she comes off as a [[ParentalSubstitute mother]], since Spike has no separate maternal figure in Ponyville. Rainbow Dash also sees her old friend, Gilda the Griffon, as one. To her credit, Gilda ''does'' seem to care about her; the problem is that she doesn't care [[{{Jerkass}} for anyone else]]. [[spoiler:Ironically, it's revealed later that when Gilda and Rainbow Dash first met, it was the other way around--the young Gilda looked up to Rainbow Dash as one of these after the latter defended her from bullies]].
** Literal big sisters Applejack towards Apple Bloom, and [[AnAesop (eventually)]] Rarity towards Sweetie Belle. This is explicitly {{invoked}} in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E23TheCutieMarkChronicles The Cutie Mark Chronicles]]".
--->'''Scootaloo:''' We can start with the coolest pony in Ponyville...\\
'''Apple Bloom:''' Applejack!\\
'''Sweetie Belle:''' Rarity!
** Pinkie Pie sometimes takes this role, trying to cheer up Apple Bloom or chaperoning foals on Nightmare Night.
*** And with the recent arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Cake's twin foals, Pinkie is now filling this role in a quite literal sense given that the Cakes seem to regard her as something of a foster daughter.
*** Subverted hilariously [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hh2qaoGuHkI when she tries to act this way toward Fluttershy.]]
---->'''Fluttershy:''' I'm a year older than you.
** The couple whose wedding the Mane Six attend in the Season 2 finale, appropriately enough, both played this role for Twilight Sparkle when she was a foal: Shining Armor is her "B.B.B.F.F.[[note]]Big Brother, Best Friend Forever[[/note]]," while Princess Cadance was her foalsitter (and apparently, "the best foalsitter in the history of foalsitters").
** Subverted by Rainbow Dash. While the other members of the Mane Six are all pretty good with kids and fit this trope nicely, WordOfGod has revealed that the reason she wasn't given a younger sibling was because her occasional {{Jerkass}} tendencies probably wouldn't make her the best big sister. [[spoiler:But then, nearly three seasons' worth of CharacterDevelopment finally paid off in the events of "Sleepless in Ponyville," where she effectively becomes a big sister to Scootaloo!]]
*** She does still get occasional moments of this with other team mates however, especially to Fluttershy. When Gilda revealed her true colors and turned on Pinkie, she stood up for her (and all her other friends) as well.
*** All are pretty good with kids to some degree or another. Twilight is very responsible, seems to know a good deal about looking after children, and interacts very well with the kids in town, particularly the Cutie Mark Crusaders. Fluttershy doesn't have that much experience with kids, but her FriendToAllLivingThings status certainly gave her a leg up when the opportunity arose. Pinkie Pie and Applejack both seem to get along very well with kids, the former partially due to [[OneOfTheKids being similar to them]]. Rarity is a more questionable case, as the Cakes went to her ''last'' when looking for a foalsitter, even after Rainbow Dash!
** Even before ''Sisterhooves Social'', Rarity had been this to Sweetie Belle on her 5th birthday and... not what Sweetie Belle had thought in mind. Rarity entertained Sweetie Belle's guests to prevent them from leaving as they were waiting for the birthday girl to come down because Sweetie Belle was trying to look good for the birthday with dress, lipstick, and heels on. When one guest said that they don't need the absent birthday girl because of her older sister entertaining them, Rarity actually defends Sweetie Belle as she wants her birthday to go well. Unfortunately at that time, Sweetie Belle was overseeing this which made her go back to her bedroom crying and thought her sister upstaged her ''on purpose''. This was part of her [[DrivenByEnvy motivation]] in the plot of "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E20ForWhomTheSweetieBelleToils For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils]]" to sabotage a dress of one of Rarity's highest clients as payback for the dresses Rarity made overshadowing Sweetie Belle's play she worked hard on. It's also heavily implied that Luna, who was helping Sweetie Belle see the error of ways in her dreams, thought that way about Celestia.
** It's obvious Princess Celestia adores Luna after she gets reverted from being Nightmare Moon, and Part 1 of "The Return of Harmony" confirms they were good friends before that (sharing the Elements of Harmony). In the Season 4 premiere, a flashback shows them doing just that: sharing the Elements of Harmony, to defeat Discord together.
** Silverstream the Hippogriff is the older sister to Terramar, according to Jim Miller.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'':
** Luz has [[LikeBrotherAndSister this sort of dynamic]] with King, being a fun loving and protective older sister figure that he looks up to and wants to spend as much time with as possible.
** Emira Blight acts this way towards both her younger twin brother Edric and their little sister Amity (when she and Edric aren't busy acting like TricksterTwins). This is best seen near the ending of "Through the Looking Glass Ruins" where she gives Amity some valuable advice regarding [[spoiler:her feelings for Luz]] [[IntimateHairBrushing while brushing her hair]].
* DoubleSubverted with Candace in ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb''. She normally is quite the opposite, but the boys still look up to and admire her and during the show she actually perform many cool things. Indeed, Phineas points out in "Summer Belongs To You" how she's always taken part in their adventures and done so many cool things: driving monster trucks, traveling through time, becoming the Queen of Mars, and so on. To them, she is that cool.
** She could be considered this to Isabella (helping her sometimes in later seasons and special), even though they aren't actually related.
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerPuffGirls'': Although all three sisters are the exact same age due to being created at the same time, Buttercup often behaves as one to Bubbles, or even to Blossom on occasion.
* ''WesternAnimation/ReadyJetGo'': Sydney serves this role to the other group members. She's easily the most level-headed, wise member of the group, and she's also a creative (if a bit over-ambitious) go-getter with a kind personality.
* Jen on ''WesternAnimation/{{Sixteen}}'' has a mean older sister everyone loves that she's jealous of.
* ''WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars'': Padmé's relationship with Ahsoka seems to be like this.
** Ahsoka's relationship with the Jedi younglings in the Young Jedi story arc in the fifth season also seems to be like this, considering that she is their chaperone.
* In ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'', the appearance of a gem reflects what they think of themselves. While Pearl and Garnet appear as adults, Amethyst looks to be in her late teens. While this is reflected in her rebellious behavior, it's also because she is actually quite younger than Pearl and Garnet are. Her insecurities over belonging to the Gems (namely in that [[spoiler: she was born in Earth and thus a product of the heinous operations the Homeworld Gems were doing]]) along with her own purpose allow her to bond more with Steven and they have a more casual reltationship. By the end of Season 3, she's also possibly the gem closest to him, despite Pearl and Garnet not lacking in important moments.
** This also slightly applies when Amethyst and Garnet [[FusionDance fuse into Sugilite]]. When she first appears in "Coach Steven" to [[ItMakesSenseInContext wreck a Gem Control Tower]], she first asks Steven if he "wants to see something cool." Steven then spends a good chunk of the episode thinking Sugilite is awesome, and wanting to be strong like her, [[TeamMom much to Pearl's disapproval]].
** This bond between Steven and Amethyst, compared to him and the other Gems is what allows them [[spoiler: to fuse to become Smokey Quartz while proving that Steven can fuse with Gems ''and'' humans (though unknown if at the same time.)]]
* Subverted with Blackfire in the ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'' animated series. The other Titans think she's here to hang out with her little sis and maybe even join the team, but she's actually there [[spoiler:to frame Starfire for a robbery she committed to get the authorities off her back.]] Heck, Starfire [[GenkiGirl was excited to see her]] at first and [[OhCrap didn't expect such treachery.]] This moment marked a MoralEventHorizon for Blackfire as Starfire wasn't at all happy to see her again.
** In a similar vein to Katara and Toph, Starfire is this trope to Raven.
* ''WesternAnimation/TotalDrama Pahkitew Island'' has [[AwesomeAussie Jasmine]] act like this to [[NiceGirl Samey]] in order to make up for where Samey's actual older sister, Amy [[BigBrotherBully failed]].
** [[DefrostingIceQueen While it takes her awhile to start acting like one]], Emma from WesternAnimation/TotalDramaPresentsTheRidonculousRace is one to her younger sister Kitty.
* Arcee acts as this to Jack in ''WesternAnimation/TransformersPrime,'' shifting into MamaBear territory when he's threatened.
** Windblade was this to Bumblebee in WesternAnimation/TransformersCyberverse. In the present, she serves as Bumblebee’s BigBrotherMentor, training him and teaching him about the Great War and his own past. As Bumblebee recovers, the two fall back into their original dynamic.
* ''WesternAnimation/WinxClub'': Flora to Miele (and an honorary one to Mirta), and Daphne to Bloom.
%%* Irma and Cornelia in ''WesternAnimation/{{WITCH}}''.
* ''WesternAnimation/XMenEvolution''
** This rendition of Jean Grey, also a Type B {{Tsundere}}.
** Tabitha Smith, aka Boom-Boom, ''really'' fits the bill after her CharacterDevelopment.
** Rogue to Nightcrawler, possibly; they never actually stated which of the two is older, though it seems to be Rogue.
* Miss Martian becomes Beast Boy's adopted sister in season two of ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice''. It doesn't hurt that she was the donor when he needed a blood transfusion in the first season, or that she modeled her human appearance on his mother, an actress who played the protagonist on a show that Miss Martian adored and based her persona off of.
** Batgirl also gives off some of this air in her interactions with Robin III and Wonder Girl. She hugs Cassie after a successful mission and is usually paired with Robin for covert ops, including knocking him out of the way of attacks. When complaining about how all the other kids have mentors, Jaime includes Batgirl as one of Robin's.
