->It's time to finalize our agreement. Superman died. You came to us, looking to carry on the work your late cousin began. But your powers were gone. I said I'd help you restore them. I did. Now comes your end of the deal.

''Supergirl'' is a comic-book series featuring ''ComicBook/{{Supergirl}}'', and the character's seventh ongoing series. Published by DC Comics in 2016 as part of their ''ComicBook/DCRebirth'' initiative and part of the ''Franchise/{{Superman}}'' universe, it was initially written by Steve Orlando. It redefines ''Supergirl'' and her place in the New 52 universe after the events of ''ComicBook/TheFinalDaysOfSuperman''. It is also a direct sequel to ''ComicBook/Supergirl2011'', which ended with Kara Zor-El being depowered due to unknown reasons, andthe first run takes inspiration from the ''Series/Supergirl2015''.

Before dying in ''ComicBook/TheFinalDaysOfSuperman'', Superman entrusted Supergirl with protecting Earth. After her cousin's death, Kara Zor-El turns to the shadowy organization known as the DEO (Department of Extranormal Operations) to restore her lost powers once and for all as she ponders her place on Earth and wonders if she truly belongs on Krypton. But as a fateful experiment sends her rocketing toward the sun, disaster strikes at home in the form of the lost Kryptonian werewolf Lar-On!

''Supergirl vol. 7'' proper starts out right after the ''Rebirth'' issue with the ''Reign of the Cyborg Supermen'' story arc. Supergirl is having trouble adjusting to life on Earth and would rather be back on Krypton. The sudden return of Cyborg Superman and his offer to bring Krypton back will complicate matters even more so.

'''Supergirl'''

''Supergirl (2016)'' was ComicBook/{{Supergirl}}'s
seventh ongoing series. Published by DC Comics in 2016 as part of their solo book, starting publication during the ''ComicBook/DCRebirth'' initiative and part of the ''Franchise/{{Superman}}'' universe, it was initially written by Steve Orlando. It redefines ''Supergirl'' and her place in the New 52 universe after the events of ''ComicBook/TheFinalDaysOfSuperman''. It is also a era. A direct sequel to ''ComicBook/Supergirl2011'', the book was preceeded by the ''Supergirl (Rebirth)'' one-shot (October, 2016), which ended with Kara Zor-El being depowered set the initial status quo up, and started publication the next month. The title dropped the ''DC Rebirth'' branding as of issue #16 and suffered a four-month-long hiatus after #20 due to unknown reasons, andthe first DC restructuring the ''ComicBook/{{Superman}}'' line in 2018.

At the end, ''Supergirl (Volume 7)'' was cancelled as of issue #42 (August, 2020), thusly ending a fifteen-year-long era where Supergirl always had an ongoing title on the shelves (saving brief hiatus).

The book features three well defined eras:

* Steve Orlando's
run takes (issues #1-20): Initially it took inspiration from the ''Series/Supergirl2015''.

Before dying in
''Series/Supergirl2015'' then-ongoing show. As a result of the events of ''ComicBook/{{Crucible}}'' and ''ComicBook/TheFinalDaysOfSuperman'', Superman entrusted Supergirl with protecting Earth. After her cousin's death, Kara Zor-El turns Zor-El, who had turned to the shadowy organization known as the DEO (Department of Extranormal Operations) to restore her lost powers, is entrusted with protecting Earth by her dying cousin. After getting her powers once back, Kara is officially adopted by DEO agents Jeremiah and for all as Eliza Danvers, and moves to National City, where she ponders her place on Earth and wonders if she truly belongs on Krypton. But as a fateful experiment sends her rocketing toward the sun, disaster strikes at home in the form of the lost Kryptonian werewolf Lar-On!

''Supergirl vol. 7'' proper
starts out right after operating under the ''Rebirth'' issue orders of Director Cameron Chase as attending National City Technical High School as Kara Danvers and working as a part-time young innovator for former Daily Planet journalist Cat Grant's new company. As Supergirl's live-action show popularity waned, the book dropped or downplayed most of elements associated with it. Issue #8 tied in with the ''Reign of ''ComicBook/SupermanReborn'' storlyine, which altered Superman's continuity in great ways, and Supergirl's history in undefined ones.

* Marc Andreyko's run (issues #21-36): Completely drops
the Cyborg Supermen'' story arc. former run's setup. In the aftermath of ''ComicBook/ManOfSteel2018'', Kara sets out on a long space odyssey to find out the truth about Krypton's destruction. Upon going back to Earth, Supergirl is having trouble adjusting to life on Earth gets tangled up with the ''ComicBook/DCYearOfTheVillain'' event, and becomes one of The Batman Who Laughs' infected puppets.

* Jody Houser's run (issues #37-42): Deals with Kara becoming one of the Infected, and the aftermath from getting cured from her Jokerization. The final two issues were released as digital-only, although they
would rather be back on Krypton. The sudden return of Cyborg Superman and his offer to bring Krypton back will complicate matters even more so.

* MakeMeWannaShout: Kara is trapped inside a contraption which adapts to her skills. She cannot break free until she realizes she can hear the machine, which means its adaptive cells speak to each other on a specific frequency. Supergirl isolates the sound and then she shouts, flooding the air with the same frequency the adaptive cells use to coordinate countermeasures, deafeaning them so they cannot work together to adapt to her.
