!! Dark Ages

Taking place in medieval times, this is the second world to feature tombstone obstacles. Additionally, no sun falls from the sky, and necromancy will occasionally raise zombies from tombstones.

Features the Knight Zombie, Jester Zombie, Wizard Zombie, Zombie King, and Imp Dragon Zombie.

* AdiposeRex: The Zombie King.
* AttackReflector: Jester Zombie can catch projectiles launched at him and then throw them back. This makes the use of plants like Melon-pult and Citron against him a ''very'' bad idea.
** CatchAndReturn
* BalefulPolymorph: The Wizard Zombie turns plants on the lawn into sheep.
* FightingClown: Guess who.
* HeavilyArmoredMook: The Knight Zombie can withstand more punishment than even a Buckethead due to his helmet. Fortunately, the helmet can be removed by Magnet-shroom.
* MookPromotion: Zombie King can turn nearby Peasant Zombies into Knight Zombies.
* NiceHat: The Jester Zombie's cap, and Wizard Zombie's wizard hat.
* NoOntologicalInertia: Plants turned into sheep by Wizard Zombie will return to normal when the Wizard dies.
* NoSell: Imp Dragon Zombie is immune to fire-based plants like Snapdragon. Jester Zombie is straight-up immune to anything with a projectile attack.
* OneHitKill: Although rare because he always spawns on the rightmost column, Zombie King's throne instantly crushes any plant it lands on.
* SupportPartyMember: Zombie King is this for the zombies. He doesn't even move, but can bolster the strength of the horde by giving out knight helmets.
* TacticalRockPaperScissors: Jester Zombie cannot deflect attacks from Fume-shroom, Snapdragon, Laser Bean, Lightning Reed, or Magnifying Grass. He also can't deflect attacks at all when frozen solid or stunned.
* WizardClassic: Wizard Zombie certainly has the look.

As in the first game, every world contains Basic Zombie, Conehead Zombie, Flag Zombie and Buckethead Zombie, just visually adapted and renamed to the theme, but they all work the same. They also each have their own version of Imps and Gargantuars, though those are more varied in abilities.
Unlike the first game, the other zombies found in each world are only encountered in that world alone apart from the Pinata daily levels.

* IronicNurseryTune: The Jack-in-the-Box Zombie plays "Pop Goes The Weasel" in his box... and explodes.
* MookChivalry: Digger Zombie can dig all the way to the very far left side of the screen... and then he starts eating the plants on your back row instead of, you know, going straight at the house. Can perhaps be explained that he's dizzy after he jumps out of the dug hole and lost his direction.
* TunnelKing: Digger Zombie.
* TwitchyEye: Jack-in-the-Box Zombie has one.

!!Zombies introduced in Roof levels
They are Pogo Zombie, Bungee Zombie, Ladder Zombie, Catapult Zombie, Gargantuar and Imp.

* {{Badass}}: He's Gargantuar's the deadliest zombie in the original game, capable of destroying '''anything in one hit'''. And it takes, not just one, but two plants that would normally insta-kill any other zombie to beat him, him (three with the Giga version), like the Potato Mine or Squash.
* BanditMook: Bungee Zombies can steal your plants. You have to be quick to kill them before he succeeds. Alternatively, Umbrella Leaf can bounce them away. A [[CrosshairAware crosshair]] will appear to note their position before they descend.
*

* TheImp: Imp, obviously.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: He Gargantuar will use either a telephone pole pole, lamp post, or a road sign to crush anything in his way. And he might even use another zombie.
* ItOnlyWorksOnce: Ladder Zombie's ladder can only be planted once. Gargantuar can only hurl one Imp. Averted by Pogo Zombies, who can jump over most plants indefinitely, unless he meets a Tall-Nut.
* TheJuggernaut: While Gargantuars can be slowed down by Snow Pea or Kernel Pult, [[KungfuProofMook he isn't affected by defensive plants]] and can just swat them away.
* MightyGlacier: His Gargantuars' strength is and durability are beyond terrifying, terrifying - even more as the Giga version - but thankfully, he's incredibly slow.

* MookMaker: Bungee Zombies sometimes will spawn another zombie. Gargantuar can also throw an Imp.

* PopTheTires: Like Zomboni, Catapult Zombie can be killed in one hit this way with Spikeweed and Spikerock.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Giga Gargantuars are coded with their red eyes. And they're tougher than normal Gargantuar.
* ShieldBearingMook: Ladder Zombies' ladders make excellent shields. Although Fume-shrooms can bypass them, and once
he attacks.
put his ladder on a plant, he moves slower.
* SmashMook: Gargantuar simply moves forward, endure many kinds of attacks, and smash any plant in front of him in one hit (unless it's Spikerock). Subverted as he can also [[FastballSpecial throw an Imp]] deep into your defenses once its health go low.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Ladder Zombie, like Pole-vaulting and Dolphin Rider Zombies before him, can be tricked by planting a cheap plant in front of him to waste the ladder. But unlike the latter two, you then have to scoop said plant immediately.
