* MoralMyopia: A ''big'' problem for him. He's convinced of his own infallibility and even his more diplomatic behavior is aimed more towards convincing other people that he's right rather than meeting people halfway or finding any real common ground. It's also why he's furious about Nakia trespassing in Talokan even though [[{{Hypocrite}} he trespassed in Wakanda rather than send envoys or make a more formal diplomatic introduction]].

* BestServedCold: Subverted. Namor makes it clear that their interest is ''not'' revenge against the surface world after all this time despite having the capability to bring the entire surface world to its knees -- Wakanda included. In fact, their invasion of Wakanda made it clear that they could have easily invaded the surface world at almost any time since the Mayan era. They only decide to make a move when their civilization is at risk of being discovered.

* TheBadGuyWins: Although he did lose to Shuri in the final battle and the two form an truce with each other, Namor ultimately won in the end: [[spoiler: He manages to severely damage Wakanda, leaving them weakened and in a state of repair, killed Queen Ramonda, making Shuri (seemingly) the last of the Golden Tribe, and even left the surface nations, the Untied States in general, focusing on Wakanda. So when the time comes that Wakanda comes under attack, they'll have no choice but to come to Talokan for assistance. Namor may have lost the final battle, but he ultimately achieved his plan of forming an alliance with Wakanda]].

* RaceLift: In the comics, Namor is, broadly speaking, Caucasian white and inspired by Greco-Roman myth[[note]]while also being often drawn, and in very early comics even described in-universe as appearing, as if to be of Asian descent[[/note]]. In the MCU, he's portrayed by Mexican actor Tenoch Huerta due to the Talokans' Mayan origin. It should be noted that Namor’s skin tone varies across animated adaptations and comic issues, ranging from ghostly pale to tan-bronze.

* SmugSuper: A downplayed example. He's TheGoodKing to his people and can be completely civil and polite when the situation calls for it. However, when he's in the business of making threats, he's often smirking and condescending to his potential enemies. * UnrelatedInTheAdaptation: Maybe. Namora was never a blood cousin of Namor in the comics; her father was adopted into the Atlantean royal family and she became a cousin to him by proxy. However, none of this is indicated in the movie, and given Namor's highly advanced age, it us unlikely she would be considered his cousin even if something similar happened.

* VillainHasAPoint: His wariness and lack of any love for the surface world are absolutely justifiable given that he witnessed the horrific atrocities that the Conquistadors inflicted on the Mayans firsthand. * AdaptationalNiceGuy: Slightly. ''Wakanda Forever'' opts to downplay his notorious {{Jerkass}} tendencies (particularly his extreme arrogance and sexually predatory behavior) and play up his noble traits in order to make him a more sympathetic antagonist, but he's also demonstrated, repeatedly, to be completely and utterly ruthless and capable of feats of extreme violence.

* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: To N'Jadaka/Erik 'Killmonger' Stevens. Once he took the throne, Erik wanted to use Wakanda's mighty army and its advanced vibranium technology to subjugate the rest of the world and tried to justify it as 'freeing the oppressed', even though deep down he just wanted to vent his anger on everyone else for what he went through. Meanwhile, Namor initially only wanted to keep Talokan's existence a secret, but the surface world's encroachment on Talokan's territory for its vibranium resources means he won't hesitate to go to war with the entire world to ensure Talokan's safety. Erik also didn’t actually care about the Wakandan culture and dealt a severe blow to it by ordering the destruction of the heart-shaped herbs, ensuring that there won’t be any future Black Panther [[spoiler:until Shuri manages to recreate it]], while Namor’s entire reason for conflict is to protect the Talokan way of life, even if it results in the destruction of Wakanda, another country that’s also trapped in a similar circumstance and threatened by the outside world. Both villains are ruthless conquerors driven by childhood memories of witnessing inequality and injustice done to their respective ethnic groups by white oppressors, but of the two, Namor is far nobler than Erik ever was.

* AsLongAsItSoundsForeign: A consequence of the GrandfatherClause coming into effect. While turning the Greek-inspired Atlantis into pseudo-Mayan Talokan is easy, [[AdaptationNameChange changing the names of recognizable characters]] would at best make a mess of marketing and at worst eliminate the point of adapting characters in the first place. The names of Namor and Namora got recontextualized as [[GratuitousSpanish coming from Spanish loanwords]], but unless something similar happened with Attuma, he is left as a Mayan character with a non-Mayan name. Somewhat [[DownplayedTrope downplayed]] since Yucatec Mayan does have the necessary phonemes, meaning that while Attuma isn't a Mayan name, it potentially ''could'' be.
