* SnapBack: Just prior to her commissionership, she had been a supporting character in ''[[ComicBook/LoisLane2019 Lois Lane]]'' as the Question (a move that was itself a SnapBack), during which she briefly mentioned that she had resigned from the GCPD to do so. And while its heavily implied that it was Nakano who brought Renee out of retirment, the exact circumstances involved in getting her back into the GCPD have so far not been explained.

A Japanese CrusadingWidower who wields a cursed sword that [[YourSoulIsMine consumes the souls]] of those slain by it. Tatsu Yamashiro is a deadly vigilante who once served under [[ComicBook/SuicideSquad Amanda Waller]], became a founding member of the [[ComicBook/BatmanAndTheOutsiders Outsiders]], joined the ComicBook/JusticeLeagueOfAmerica, and fought alongside the ComicBook/BirdsOfPrey. But somewhere down the line, Tatsu saved the life of a young Jace Fox who had been imprisoned and tortured in the Eastern European country of Markovia. Sympathizing with his desire to repent for past sins, she became his mentor and played a major part in molding him into the VigilanteMan he is today.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: While Tam was rescued by Luke in ''Comicbook/{{Batwing}}'', she never fully recovered from what Ratcatcher and Menace put her through which has taken a significant toll on her health. Even when she finally does snap out of her coma, Tam's motor skills have severely degraded and needs intense long-term physical therapy to regain any hope of being able to walk again.

* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: While under the influence of Sinestro's MindRape, Jace hallucinates himself beating the breaks off of Detective Whitaker for calling him a coward. Once he figures out what's really going on, [[KickTheSonOfABitch Jace enacts this trope for real on Sinestro himself.]]

* KickTheSonOfABitch: While what he does is undeniably horrifying, the revelation that Devlin Rubel was a child-trafficking pedophile who covered up his twisted hobbies [[VillainWithGoodPublicity through philanthropy]] paints the artist's actions in a far more [[PaedoHunt sympathetic light]].

* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: Jace Fox is this to Bruce Wayne much like fellow Bat-Successor [[WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond Terry McGinnis]] was. Where as Bruce comes from a respected and beloved OldMoney family, Jace is the son of a [[SelfMadeMan self-made entrepreneur]] and [[GadgeteerGenius inventor]] who is the subject of controversy over his NouveauRiche status. Where Bruce is defined by the tragedy that befell him and his parents at the hands of a random mugger, Jace is a former hedonist who is haunted by an incident ''he himself perpetuated'' during his youth which forced him into exile as a disgrace and is defined by his drive to [[TheAtoner atone for it]]. Where as Bruce's public persona is traditionally a RichIdiotWithNoDayJob, Jace prefers to [[SlummingIt get by in life like a regular person]] and has an immense distaste for the Ultra-Rich and more specifically [[ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney those who believe their wealth puts them above consequence.]] And where Bruce is incredibly stoic and grim under the cowl, Jace adopts a far more [[TheSnarkKnight sardonic persona]] during his vigilante endeavors and is prone to [[SirSwearsalot swearing]] and [[YouFightLikeACow talking shit during fights]].

* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: [[spoiler:Beats the living hell out of Whitaker in issue #14 when Whitaker accuses him of being a coward by leaving Gotham and not involving himself in the Dark Crisis event]].

* WhatTheHellHero: In issue #14, Whitaker accuses Jace of being a coward, claiming he ran from Gotham to New York when the post-Fear State climate got too much and refusing to get involved in the Dark Crisis event and that, by avoiding all of these, he's ruining Batman's reputation. [[spoiler:Jace beats the living hell out of him and might have killed him]].

* MoralityChain: By his own self-deprecating admission, Vol was originally a [[TheCracker Black Hat]] who learned how to become a hacker specifically to [[OnlyInItForTheMoney steal money]] and [[SerialRomeo impress women]]. But it was ultimatley ''Jace'' who convinced him that he could instead use those talents to combat injustice and oppession around the world...[[ReformedButNotTamed while still making money off of it.]]

* DarkSkinnedBlonde: She's dark skinned and has blonde hair.

* KnifeNut: Her primary weapons of choice are knives. She not only shanks Jace with a [[SinisterSwitchblade switchblade]] hidden underneath her sleeve, she carries both a larger combat knife and a [[MacheteMayhem machete]] that she uses [[DualWielding in tandem]] against Katana.
