Then he learns he's turning into a monster and figures he may as well just stay there since he's pretty sure his family would just put him down.]]
* ForcedTransformation: [[spoiler: Due to anxiety about what happened at the end of the third chapter. His unstable power transforms him into a bee like creature at the start of the fourth one, leaving him stuck in that state for the majority of the chapter.]]

[[spoiler: He tries to save Harpy by flying after her but between already being nauseous from being carried by the dragons and the stress of trying to hold her, he just ends up passing out. The flashback in Chapter 2 shows that he passed out after discovering his wings, then somehow flew to Podunkello while unconcious... and he's so nauseated from it that he promptly throws up.]] This even continues with his [[spoiler: bee form]] - though he seems to handle small amounts of normal flight better, he still throws up when he's dragged around by Pumpkin.
* HiddenDepths:

** Turns out, he's actually very multi-talented with other fields such as music and some amount of swordplay. [[spoiler: This was due to promising Halesia that he would continue learning these skills so he could teach her later when she was busy training her magic. A promise she either apparently forgot or was too busy to bother with over time.]]
* IAmAMonster: Basically his main character conflict and also what drives a lot of his JerkAss behaviour since he doesn't think he can trust anyone with it. However, Harpy being extremely kind and understanding when he actually goes into an IAmAMonster-worthy rant after learning [[spoiler: that he is turning in a monster and his symptoms are going to get worse]] also instigates his eventual resolve to start becoming a better person.
* ItsAllMyFault: After berating Harpy for putting herself in danger to the point of making her cry, he immediately realizes he messed up and then can't even see her because he can't cope with how to fix it. This basically drives the plot of Chapter 4. A ''literal'' cry of this as he hits an emotional rock-bottom [[spoiler: triggers a transformation into a bee-like pixie form that he can't change back from and due to his worries about having relied too much on Harpy before, he refuses to go to her for help.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: He comes off as an unsociable JerkAss in his first appearance... except when it seems like Harpy is about to die for having tried to rescue him [[spoiler: he dives off a dragon and tries to catch her despite hating his wings, not wanting anyone to know about them, and also not actually being able to fly without vomiting or passing out.]] This leads directly into the revelation that much of his uber-jerk behaviour now is a reaction to [[spoiler: discovering just a few days ago that he had wings and that he's turning into a monster. He does ''not'' want anyone to know lest someone kill him for it.]] He's still extremely bad with people but does start making strides to get better. By the TimeSkip in Chapter 5 he's actually got friends and his grumpiness has toned down now that his life is more stable.
* LetsGetDangerous: When confronted by an angry Captain Giblet [[spoiler: (who's still miffed at Humphrey for accidentally burning his feathers off when his fire ability started to develop) while in his bee form.]] Humphrey grabs a (plastic) sword and does battle against him.

* NightmareFace: Does these whenever he gets angry or panicked. While most people don't seem to comment on it, after Harpy learns he's [[spoiler: turning into a monster]], she actually points it out to him and he becomes a little more cognizant of it. It still doesn't really stop him. Upgrades later on to include [[spoiler: spitting fire]].

* PlayingWithFire: [[spoiler: In Chapter 3 he spontaneously starts breathing fire, the first time when he drinks spicy rum and starts laughing at one of Ash's jokes. Harpy helps him calm down enough to control it... just in time because Urtica comes back and she ends up needing his dragon fire to burn her up.]] By the end of Chapter 4, [[spoiler: he can control it enough that he uses it for cooking stew.]]
* PowerGivesYouWings: Just before his birthday! [[spoiler: He has them full time and it's still not been explained why. Just that he might be turning into a monster and the wings are one of the symptoms.]]

* VoluntaryShapeshifting: [[spoiler: At the end of Chapter 4 he seems to have finally gained this ability as he's able to switch in and out of the pixie form at will. During the side chapter, "Dough See Dough", he's depicted easily turning into an ogre and then later directly going from ogre to pixie and back to human at will.]]
* WallCrawl: After Ash tried to punt him off a bridge after tiring from his complaining, we see he managed to cling onto the underside of it. Later in Chapter 4, [[spoiler: Humphrey, stuck in a round, chubby bee form, secretly helps Harpy win a rigged ShellGame by switching out the ball with himself. Humphrey clings to the inside of the cup to prevent the Duke from removing the "ball" before Harpy can see the result.]]
* WhamShot: [[spoiler: A brief flashback Humphrey has reveals that both he and Halesia had brown hair as kids before their current white haired look. Considering an earlier flashback showed they had the latter look while still young means that the change had happened quite recent after that time.]]

!! Podunkello Residents

* BewareTheNiceOnes: A very cordial fellow who enjoy socializing and can be very friendly. But, if Wolf's words are anything to go by, he has some skeletons in his closet. Considering the way he was also able to break up the scuffle between Ash and Humphrey, he likewise has some skills in him. [[spoiler: And then we find out later he was part of the Merry Party, a popular fairy tale that's based off his exploits along with a group of others (two of whom included Wolf, Harpy's mentor and Cinder, Ash's mother) in the past.]] Humphrey continues to distrust him due to warnings from his father as well, and learning that the Duke was part of the Merry Party only deepens that mistrust as he suspects it has something to do with why his mother (the Duke's sister) died, why Harpy survived losing her powers, and why he himself has been developing [[spoiler: monster abilities.]]

** Forces Harpy to go save Humphrey from some dragons under the threat of telling someone named Wolf that she was in the town. Harpy reacts with fear upon hearing Wolf's name and abides to his wishes. [[spoiler: He still calls Wolf regardless as he owes him a life debt.]]

* PetTheDog: Hired Ash despite knowing [[spoiler: that Ash had forged the note for him to be a "guard" instead of a "gardener"]]. Given his letting Humphrey stay on such short notice without knowing the real reason, hiring Cid after the party-crashing, and his seeming faith in Harpy's ability to rescue Humphrey, it seems he's one for giving people real chances to prove themselves.

* TerribleTrio
* UngratefulBastard: When an ogre suddenly appears [[spoiler: (really Humphrey suddenly changed into one)]] and catches Harpy and him after the former uses her bow to sling herself to grab him off the stampeding cows. He suddenly yells out in terror which causes Harpy to kick the ogre on instinct.

* EatenAlive: [[spoiler: Tries to take on the Dragon by himself and gets eaten quickly. To drive the point home, the dragon spits out his bones.]]

* WeHardlyKnewYe: Mostly a background character, one time he gets to do any action [[spoiler: he's killed off quickly.]]

* DeathGlare: [[spoiler: Gives one to Humphrey when he recognizes him in his bee form.]]

* ItsPersonal: Toward Humphrey [[spoiler: for accidentally burning his feathers off when Humphrey's fire ability started to develop. When Giblet recognizes him in his bee form, he quickly starts a fight.]]

!! Coilstone Kingdom

* BornLucky: Humphrey seems to consider her this, in that she gets to be a "perfect magical sorceress" while he at first doesn't think he has ''any'' powers [[spoiler: and then he starts turning into a monster.]] However the comic seems to imply otherwise as since she does have so much power, she has to put it to use helping her kingdom which leaves her very little free time. Likely the main reason she was mad at Humphrey leaving was because their father promised he would help her with her duties.

* ItRunsInTheFamily: [[spoiler: A flashback showed that her mother could use magic, so likely she inherited it from her.]]

* ParentalFavoritism: Her father refers to her and her twin's birthday as her party and needed to be corrected by Humprey to recall that it would be his party too. [[spoiler: However judging from Humphrey's flashback, it seems he was interested more in her magical abilities.]]

* WhamShot: [[spoiler: A brief flashback Humphrey has reveals that both she and him had brown hair as kids before their current white haired look. Considering an earlier flashback showed they had the latter look while still young means that the change had happen quite recent after that time.]]

* ParentalFavoritism: Shows a blatant favoritisim to Halesia. When the twins' birthday was coming up, he keeps citing it as ''her'' birthday rather than both and had to be corrected of this by Humphrey, showing a rather dismissive tone in response. [[spoiler: However a later flashback reveals he only does so because Halesia can use magic. Having kept her apart from Humphrey as they were growing up to strengthen it. Why hasn't been revealed yet.]]

* BatmanGambit: Going by her present to Humphrey, [[spoiler: Harpy ending up in town]] was her plan all along.

* TheDreaded: Considering Ash's reaction in flashbacks, the barkeep at the Save Pint knowing about her and her threat to the Duke in her letter if he doesn't hire her son [[spoiler: for anything other then a gardener]]. It's safe to say she has a bit of a reputation.
* TheReveal: [[spoiler: She's actually Halesia's bodyguard, having hidden her identiy in a big bulky suit of armor. Harpy finds out when Cinder wishes to test her skill and manages to knock her helmet off in their duel.]]

* ContrivedCoincidence: We find out in the past that Wolf was collecting ogre horn and Fermurus was a victim of such which sent Maxilar after him. In the present time, one of Fermurus' horns is still broken. However when Harpy apologizes for what Wolf seemingly did. Fermurus laughs it off because [[spoiler: 1) Ogre horns ''grow back'' over time 2) Wolf and he are friends and he ''willingly'' gave Wolf his horn with no fuss and 3) Fermurus' current broken horn was due to him bumping into a doorway before heading to the festival.]]

* KillItWithFire: [[spoiler: How she supposedly meets her end in the second encounter, when Harpy uses Humphrey's newfound fire breath ability to roast what remains of her after hacking her down to size.]]
* MindControl: Reveals she has this power via pollen then controlling the infected through music melody. It seems to only work on animals however as some of the Grumble Bees and Pumpkin were affected by her magic. [[spoiler: She notices Humphrey isn't human and is able to take control of him for a bit before Harpy snaps him out of it.]]

They still sling insults and whatnot at each other, but she's not as much of a jerk to Harpy as she was in the past. Harpy likewise returns the courtesy, likely seeing Lila and Lily her as sisters.

* RapunzelHair: A high ponytail that rises well off her head before falling to nearly floor length.
