* EvilCounterpart: To Berserker. Both of them are automatons of different kinds who serve someone else in some compacity. Though whereas Berserker never does anything malignant to anyone, Sieguei is assigned the task of murdering opponents to Merkuar.

* AFoolAndHisNewMoneyAreSoonParted: Neil had canonically won the Power of Solid fighting tournament in ''Genei Tougi'' and gained the huge cash prize reward, but thanks to his wasteful habits ([[CantHoldHisLiquor particularly drinking]]), he ended up losing his entire money in no time at all.

* BreakTheHaughty: Happens to her between the games. The Introductory scenes of her arcade ladder in ''Critical Blow'' reveals that she spent so extravagantly on the first Power of Solid tournament that it almost bankrupted the Phillips Konzern (of which the Merkuar Conglomerate exploited this moment of financial difficulty to buy her father's company). As punishment, her father sent her off to work on hard labor to teach her humility.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Mary (and variants across other Western languages) is usually spelled with one r, but hers is spelt with another r.

* WorthyOpponent: In Critical Blow's theater mode, Rickey gets to engage Hagane Ichinomiya in a battle. Upon Rickey's victory, the highly trained karateka gives his respects to the young fighter.

* VirtuousCharacterCopy: As one to Kazuya Mishima from the ''Franchise/{{Tekken}}'' series. Hagane looks similar to Kazuya and they have some similarities in regard to personality, such as a desire to attain martial prowess and to pursue vengeance against someone who had hurt them in the past ([[ArchnemesisDad Heihachi]] in Kazuya's case and Merkuar in Hagane's). However, for all of Hagane's Kazuya-like bravado, going so far as proclaiming in his ending in the first game that "The word 'strong' is for ME!", Hagane is someone who still has a loved one he cherishes, his daughter Chiaki, and especially has moral boundaries he will not cross in contrast to Kazuya who made an almost literal DealWithTheDevil in ''Tekken 2'' to achieve more power and risked the life of his lover Jun Kazama when it overwhelmed him. In some ways Hagane is sort of Racdym's take on [[FallenHero Kazuya]] had he not fallen into his worst traits and become the villain he has been from the second Tekken game onwards.
