He was the only Guardian who originally acknowledged that getting rid of their emotions might be a bad idea, the first of the Guardians afterwards to take a name for himself, beginning the expression of individuality that allowed him to reconnect with his emotions, the only Guardian to acknowledge the successes of the Green Lanterns stationed on Earth, the only Guardian trust said Green Lanterns with the secrets of the Guardians past mistakes, as seen in ''Ganthet's Tale'', the only Guardian who acknowledged that Hal Jordan's fall back in ''Emerald Twilight'' was partially due to the Guardian's own negligence, and, along with Sayd, is the only Guardian willing to take the prophecy of the "Blackest Night" seriously. During the short time he was BrainwashedAndCrazy and stopped being this, he helped create the Third Army and was perfectly willing to kill Kyle.

* UniformityException: Usually stands out from the other Guardians visually by his ponytail.

* AlwaysABiggerFish: The host of Ion is this in general to the Corps' enemies, being accurately described as the Green Lanterns' ultimate weapon, and in the ''{{Series/Smallville'' ''Season 11'' comics, it proved to be this to Parallax, which it derisively referred to as "runt" before delivering a brutal and well-deserved [[CurbstompBattle curbstomping]]. In the main continuity, they're a bit more evenly matched.

* PlanetOfHats: Ganthet and Sayd aside (or Krona, for that matter), they're all pretty much interchangeable, to the point where pretty much all of them have disavowed - and forgotten - their own names. That hat, meanwhile, is mostly TheSpock, though others might argue it's the UngratefulBastard.

* LetsGetDangerous: On occasion, they would actually get involved in a situation.

* MiniatureSeniorCitizens: When they started out, billions of years ago, they were the same size as an a human. These days? Not so much. At first this was stated to be one of the ways they evolved over their countless eons of life but flashbacks to their work with the First Lantern show they started to shrink after suppressing all their emotions and didn't really care.

* TheSpock: Deconstructed hard. Their focus on being emotionally suppressed to better control the cosmos through logic robbed them of their ability to understand or even care about the people in it along with their emotion-powered corps. Combine this with their self-appointed OmniscientMoralityLicense and the end result is a gaggle of self-righteous sociopathic control freaks.

* TautologicalTemplar[=/=]NeverMyFault: On their worst days, ''especially'' in ''ComicBook/RiseOfTheThirdArmy''. They operate under the idea that as the oldest sentient species in the universe, they have the right to do whatever they please as wise powerful immortals and the universe is theirs to control as self-appointed Guardians under their right as the firstborn lifeforms. Essentially MightMakesRight combined with ageism. Best shown in their quote when their authority is questioned:
