* AboveGoodAndEvil: King Kai describes Beerus and by extension all Gods of Destruction in these terms. When Goku learns of their planet-busting job, he's quick to assume the Gods of Destruction are evil, but King Kai responds that Goku's thinking about it the wrong way: their "job" and the whole reason for their existence is to destroy things, and their destroying planets is necessary for the upholding of cosmic balance across the universe. Granted the majority of them are either bad or not that good at their jobs, causing even their lack of maliciousness to do more harm than good to their Universes.

** That being said,
the majority of them are either bad or not Universe Survival arc reveals that they're ''supposed'' to have some sense of good and evil and to only destroy the latter, but it's a toss-up whether any God of Destruction ''in particular'' will really care what they're destroying. Beerus, for example, generally destroys things that annoy him unless he's directly confronted with a threat to his universe's survival (such as Present Zamasu- meanwhile, he didn't destroy Majin Buu because he happened to be asleep at their jobs, causing even their lack of maliciousness the time), while Arak is very meticulous about his job and likes to do more harm than good to their Universes.make absolutely sure that the things he destroys deserve it.

* ApeShallNeverKillApe: The Gods of Destruction are forbidden from fighting one another, let alone killing each other, beyond brief spats. This is because any fight between two of them would destroy their universes, as demonstrated when a brief spat between Beerus and Champa causes everything around them to desiccate in an expanding bubble. The Grand Minister does allow them to fight in the World of Void, since they won't damage anything but the stage. In the manga, they even fight a 12 God free-for-all in place of the Zeno Expo Match.

The guardian absolute ruler of Zeno, similar to what Whis the multiverse, and Vados are to the most powerful character in the whole franchise (unless you count [[AuthorAvatar Tori-Bot]]). He's smaller than Monaka and much cuter to boot, yet all Gods of Destruction. According to Whis, he is one of Creation and Destruction are cowed in terror at the top five strongest people in the Multiverse.mere sound or sight of him.

Added DiffLines:

!!In General
* AboveTheGods: As the supreme being of the Dragon Ball multiverse, Zeno is in a tier above that of the standard gods like the Gods of Destruction and Supreme Kais.
* TheAce: The most powerful being in the entire multiverse (unless [[AuthorAvatar Tori-Bot]] is counted), [[spoiler: being able to destroy the multiverse easily if he wanted and has destroyed six universes in the past]] (to the point where the aforementioned God of Destruction is scared of him). Luckily for everyone, he's too chill to want to.
* AdaptationalJerkass: Downplayed. In the anime, the Grand Minister says that [[spoiler:the whole Tournament of Power was a SecretTestOfCharacter: if the winner wished for ''anything'' except restoring the destroyed universes, Zeno would destroy the winner's universe ''and'' the four non-participating universes (because mortals seemingly weren't capable of moral goodness, as a result)]]. The manga doesn't state this, but whether this implies that [[spoiler:a selfish wish would've still destroyed all remaining universes]], or not, is left up to the individual reader due to lack of evidence for ''or'' against both. In both versions, Zeno approves of 17's wish, but in the anime he gives no further comment or reward, while in the manga he does [[ThrowTheDogABone bump up U7's mortal rating]] after they won.
* AdorableAbomination: Despite being the supreme deity of the multiverse, looking rather alien, and possessing enough power to one shot the ''multiverse'' and survive unharmed, he's a cute, child-like entity and rather adorable.
* AlwaysABiggerFish: Is higher up on the cosmic food chain than Beerus and Champa, and his arrival is enough to scare both of them. Though WordOfGod indicates he's still weaker than Akira/Tori-Bot, mostly because Akira is Creator/AkiraToriyama's AuthorAvatar and could blink the ''Dragon Ball'' Universe out of existence. [[spoiler:Zamasu learns this the hard way, as not even CompleteImmortality granted by an unlimited power dragon is enough to prevent him from being wiped out by the absolute TopGod.]]
* AmbiguousSituation:
** The manga's version. Even though it is never stated if the same rules in the anime where any evil wish would have resulted in Zeno destroying the remaining universe applies in the manga, it is shown that he increases the mortal rating of Universe 7 after Android 17's wish and he doesn't even try to tempt Android 17 like he did in anime. It's unclear whether or not he and the Grand Minister weren't as outgoing as in the anime about the goal of teaching the universes humility or what.
** In addition, it has been indicated that in addition to being capable of destruction, he also has the means of recreating things he destroyed, but it's never made clear if it's Super Shenron who could be used for that or if Zeno has that kind of power himself, though considering his future self's willingness to wipe out his universe, it's more likely he could do it himself.
* BadassAdorable: He is extremely cute and also the most powerful being (excepted Tori-Bot) in whose [[TheDreaded mere presence]] can make even the other powerful gods have a MassOhCrap.
* BadPowersGoodPeople: The power to erase anything is generally reserved for bad guys. Zeno, however, is a pretty childish yet benevolent being.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: He is friendly, kind, and seemed very well-mannered. However, he can destroy the entire multiverse when angry. Whis said there used to be 18 Universes; Zeno wiped out ''6'' of them. In his second appearance he shows a hidden hostile side, giving threats of being destroyed to anyone that displeases him. [[spoiler:Fusion Zamasu succeeds in well and truly enraging him, and is promptly obliterated with a ''multiverse buster''.]] It gets taken even further in the Universe Survival Saga, where Zeno has the strongest fighters of the eight weaker universes compete in a tournament, [[spoiler:with the penalty for losing being the ''destruction of their universe''.]]
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: On the one hand, he made friends with [[AllLovingHero Goku]] pretty quickly, and he prevented [[spoiler:Champa from destroying his fighters in a fit of rage]], albeit unwittingly. He even enjoyed the tournament between Universes 6 and 7 so much that he wanted to host his own tournament between all universes just for the sake of entertainment while granting the winner one wish from the Super Dragon Balls. On the other hand, he destroyed six out of the original eighteen universes just because he was upset, and he will destroy all the losing universes in the Tournament of Power simply because of their low mortal level and Zeno felt there were too many universes. [[spoiler:And then, it's revealed to all be a ruse and the entire Tournament was a SecretTestOfCharacter for the winner. This "test" was frighteningly omitted from the manga, although whether or not it means that Zeno was perfectly willing to allow the winner of the universe any wish they wanted, no matter how selfish and at the expense of the other universes, seeing as he ''did'' bump up Universe 7's mortal rating.]]
* CompleteImmortality: Implied; near the end of the Future Trunks Saga, when [[spoiler:Goku wonders if Future Zeno survived Goku Black and Future Zamasu's [[{{Gotterdammerung}} genocide]], Shin confirms he did, stating that no matter what, the Omni-King cannot be undone. Indeed, Future Zeno proceeds to destroy the entire future multiverse to get rid of Zamasu... and ''survives it.'']]
* ContrastingSequelAntagonist:
** Zeno is a sharp contrast with Champa and Beerus in their respective arcs. For once, like Beerus, the Omni-King is doing his job by hosting the Tournament of Power and destroying universes, and can't be called evil. He also lacks Beerus' sadism. However, everybody calls on his AmbiguousInnocence.
** Zeno also contrasts with the various forms of Zamasu. Both are deities and a threat to multiple universes, [[spoiler:both are friends with their AlternateSelf]], but Zamasu was rogue and essentially ''Dragon Ball''[='s=] [[SatanicArchetype equivalent of Lucifer]], Zeno takes the role of TopGod and has the power and position to do what he does. Neither saw themselves as evil and [[PureIsNotGood are pure in a way]], but unlike Zamasu, Zeno [[ObliviouslyEvil genuinely doesn't know what he's doing is wrong]] [[BlueAndOrangeMorality due to having a different moral code]]. Both have a LackOfEmpathy, but Zamasu [[TheSociopath was a malignant psychopath]] who hated mortals, particularly those on god-tier strength, while Zeno is merely indifferent and seems amused by strong mortals and their fights. Also, while Zamasu despises Goku, Zeno considers him a friend and respects him for the same casual attitude he has with gods that enraged Zamasu. [[spoiler:Last but not least, where Zamasu contemptibly prejudged mortals as being unworthy of life and embarked on a long and sinister scheme to eradicate all mortal life in the multiverse, Zeno believed in the virtue of mortals and orchestrated an 80-warrior team battle royal with universal annihilation as the stakes and a wish on the Super Dragon Balls as the winner's prize, either fully expecting that the last man standing would have enough empathy to restore every deleted universe instead of being selfish (anime) or not putting any grand notion into the wish at all but being pleased enough by the result to bump up the mortal rating of the winner's universe (manga).]]
* ChildrenAreInnocent: He may be the immortal GodEmperor, but he still physically appears as a young child and is just as naive as one would expect for that age. [[PureIsNotGood This is played for all the drama it can be.]]
* AChildShallLeadThem: [[DeconstructedTrope This trope is torn to shreds with Zeno.]] He's the absolute ruler of the entire multiverse, but in terms of personality and appearance he's basically a child. All he wants to do is play, and befriends Goku as the only being he's ever met who doesn't bow and scrape to him constantly. As stated prior and shown earlier with someone like Majin Buu, his childlike innocence and naivete is sometimes shown to be a really, ''really'' bad thing; having the power to destroy universes on a whim without the mental or emotional maturity to understand the weight of actually using it is a recipe for, shall we say... trouble.
* TheDreaded: ''All'' the gods of destruction and Kais fear him and do their best not to get on his bad side as he can easily wipe out a universe if he felt likes it. [[spoiler: Even Zamasu, both regular and as Goku Black, don't even ''dare'' try to challenge him in the manga incarnation of the "Goku Black Saga", instead futilely trying to run once he declares that universe too corrupted to continue existing.]]
* DissonantSerenity: He and his future self are as cheery as ever before and after [[spoiler: wiping out an entire universe. Even ''[[TheSociopath Frieza]]'' is put off by their behavior, though admittedly because he felt their cheery personas were poorly juxtaposed to such atrocities.]] [[spoiler:It turns out, however, that he anticipated the destruction of entire universes would not be permanent and all the destroyed universes would be revived at the end, so of course he did not give it too much weight. Not the case in the manga, though...]]
* TheEmperor: His title literally translate to "King of Everything" since he rules over all 12 universes. According to Whis, ''nothing'' stands above him.
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: You thought that Beerus and Whis explaining his power to destroy the multiverse was an InformedAbility, did you? [[spoiler:His future self ''eliminated the immortal Zamasu's multiversal existence'' by his power ''alone'']]. Even ''Goku'' knew when to get the hell out of dodge.
* EveryoneHasStandards:
** Both he and his future counterpart often stretch the rules of their own tournament to allow things that they find cool, but even they have their limits that they won't allow to be crossed. [[spoiler:When Frost tries to blast Frieza after being eliminated, a clear act of cheating, Zeno immediately erases him and declares no attacking from outside the ring, and threatens to erase all of Universe 6 if it happens again.]]
** His future self is potrayed as being completely serious and enraged seeing just how far the Fused Zamasu has gone. After all, he may be a lazy god, but even he doesn't wish to see the entire multiverse deprived of all it's mortals and filled with clones of an evil deity. He erases the entire Multiverse partially.
* {{Foil}}: Both of them are one to Zamasu. They believe that [[spoiler: mortals have great potential and when it counts their capacity for good will win out. Like Zamasu (or maybe because they figured out what he was up to before Future Zeno erased him), they decide to put mortals to the test, though their method is significantly less crazy and sadistic.]]
* GodEmperor: The supreme ruler of TheMultiverse, and also a TopGod.
* GodIsEvil: [[spoiler:Subverted as his seemingly monstrous universe-erasing agenda ultimately turns out to be a SecretTestOfCharacter showing that what he values most with mortals is their capability of showing empathy and working together to improve their states of living, albeit one carried out through extremely unorthodox methods that could easily have risked total annihilation provided the after-the-fact reveal that he would have erased absolutely everyone had the ultimate wish been misused was no joke. The manga version furthermore plays up his [[BlueAndOrangeMorality ambiguity]] more, as he doesn't show any actual care about the multiverse, but he ''did'' bump up Universe 7's mortal rating]].
** There's also the matter of his stated past destruction of six additional universes for no reason relating to their own fault, but that's really only an issue if one cares about it [[RuleOfPerception more than the]] [[AMillionIsAStatistic series itself does]].
* GodIsNeutral: Outside of occasionally interfering in what other gods are doing, Zeno only really serves as the TopGod figure and leaves the actual running of things to the Grand Minister and angels/other gods.
* TheGodsMustBeLazy: Zeno is technically the [[KingOfAllCosmos supreme ruler of all reality]], but is never seen actually running things. In practice, he's more of a massive wildcard that the other gods conspire to appease so that he doesn't destroy one or more universes in a fit of pique. [[spoiler:It turns out he does care about the betterment of each universe, he just wants the mortals (and their deities by extension) to better their universes without his help; one trait that remains constant in all his appearances is he is frustrated at any lack of improvement. This is more the case in the anime. The manga plays up his childishness and laziness more, as he was willing to wipe out the universes due to there being "too much".]]
* GooGooGodlike: Despite being the supreme being in the multiverse, he looks and acts like a young child. Beerus states that his innocence is exactly why Zeno is so dangerous, as he's too innocent to know better. [[spoiler:It later turns out he does understand concepts like good and evil, he just has been acting like he doesn't.]]
* GuardianOfTheMultiverse: He rules over the entire multiverse and is the single most powerful being. So far, he appears to be the watcher type who doesn't interfere with the happenings of the different universes, although he does show concern when Champa and Beerus don't do their jobs.
* HorrifyingTheHorror: [[PhysicalGod Beerus]], an entity who can cause ''[[SmugSuper Frieza]]'' of all people to grovel before him, practically shits his pants at the sight of Zeno. In the manga, even the endless [[spoiler:Infinite Zamasu]] clones are terrified as soon as Future Zeno appears.
* HumanoidAbomination: Future Zeno oneshots ''the entire future multiverse'', literally destroying that entire timeline... and survives after it in a bright void. He looks like a bright-colored alien child.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Ultimately subverted. A key reason he [[spoiler:'apparently']] decides to destroy the losers of the Tournament of Power is because he's tired of keeping track of 12 separate universes and wants to clean house. The universes are rated by "mortal level", a measure of how developed its mortal inhabitants are, which is also a reflection on each universe's Gods and how well they've been doing their jobs; basically, he's punishing the gods of each universe for [[TheGodsMustBeLazy being lazy]]. Of course, Zeno is seemingly just as lazy; he's never shown actually running things, leaves just about everything to the Grand Minister, and Goku Black and Future Zamasu killed all the gods of Future Trunks' timeline and rampaged across the future multiverse, slaughtering mortals right under Future Zeno's nose without him knowing a thing [[spoiler:until Goku called him in to destroy Infinite Zamasu. However, their actual intention for the universes was a SecretTestOfCharacter, and they fully believed the winner would save the destroyed universes out of moral goodness.]]
** Made more ambiguous in the manga. [[spoiler:There was never confirmed if there was any SecretTestOfCharacter after the tournament was over.]]
* IdenticalTwinIDTag: Zeno and his future self look exactly alike, so they're distinguished by seating position. Present Zeno is always on the right from the audience's perspective.
* KickTheSonOfABitch
** Future Zeno [[spoiler:obliterates Infinite Zamasu, who had just killed off the entire population of Earth and had terrorized it through his components for a year, killed all the gods of that timeline, and planned to kill every living thing there.]]
** Present Zeno [[spoiler:executes Frost, a mass murderer and war profiteer, for breaking the rules and attacking Frieza from outside the ring.]]
** Both Zeno [[spoiler:erasing Quitela (though also erasing Universe 4, which isn't an example of this), a God of Destruction who tried to sabotage Universe 7 and get it destroyed early, having no problems with framing Universe 9 which could also get it erased early, and being [[HateSink the most unpleasant god in the tournament]]. If any god deserved to be erased by Zeno, it's probably him.]]
* KillerRabbit: Is a cute, almost child-like being with an equally cute voice... and is the single most powerful being and TopGod of the ''Dragon Ball'' multiverse, to the point that he could destroy the entire multiverse in an instant if he desired to. If Whis is to be believed, he already wiped out six of them in the past.
* KingOfAllCosmos: The GodEmperor of TheMultiverse, who looks like a tiny, blue, smiling child with an extremely high-pitched voice.
* LackOfEmpathy: '''The''' chief reason why Beerus and all the gods fear him. Under that innocence, Zeno seems devoid of qualms, second-thoughts, or even regret, over the ''countless trillions'' he's annihilated over the eons. You don't even get a warning: displease him and you're gone; play by his fight-for-survival rules, and he'll merely joyfully wipe you out if you lose. Annoy him too much, and he'll wipe you out, too, just emotionlessly so. Unlike most villains in ''Dragon Ball'', however (and like Beerus), this doesn't mean he's intentionally malicious and can show fondness for mortals like Goku. It's just that he has a BlueAndOrangeMorality. [[spoiler:Notably, the ending of the tournament shows that while he has little empathy for mortals as individuals, as a species he does care about them and wants them to survive and better themselves. It is noteworthy that even Frost, who he erased specifically for annoying him, is allowed to be revived, and only the future timeline is for-sure permanently erased, being justified on the basis Zamasu threatened to consume all of existence and time itself if he wasn't stopped then and there.]]
* MisterBig: He isn't even half Goku's size, but he absolutely terrifies Beerus and Champa. Despite this, he's very nice and doesn't boss anyone around much...[[spoiler:at least until the Universe Survival Arc]].
* MyFutureSelfAndMe: After Future Zeno completely decimates the multiverse of the future timeline to destroy Infinite Zamasu once and for all, he's all alone in a void. Goku takes him to the Present Zeno and they become friends.
* MyRulesAreNotYourRules: The purpose of the Tournament and its rules, is not to enforce a fair fight - its to ''entertain'' him. And pity help you. Breaking the rules will either result in instant erasure, or it'll amuse him... giving you, or more likely your opponent, a now unbalanced advantage.
* MysteriousPast: What is he? Where did he come from? Why is he so powerful? Is he a born god like the Kais? Is the title 'Zeno' passed on like the Gods of Destruction? So many questions and we know none of them.
* NighInvulnerability: He can survive being at the point blank of a ''multiverse'' busting explosion, so powerful that not even the immortal Fusion Zamasu could survive it. Zeno, however, is left completely unharmed.
* ObfuscatingStupidity: Zeno may be genuinely childish, lazy, and frequently irresponsible, but he is ''not'' stupid and is more aware of what he is doing than he likes to let on.
* ObliviouslyEvil: It's left vague just where his awareness of morality stands, but for the most he appears to be this. He's not malicious by any stretch, but he will still unhesitatingly commit mass murder on a universal scale. [[spoiler:Subverted. He apparently values goodness and the whole tournament was a SecretTestOfCharacter. In the anime only...]]
* OneHitKill: He can destroy ''anything'', up to including the ''multiverse''.
* OurGodsAreDifferent: He is basically the god of multiverse, but unlike the Gods of Destruction and Creation (Kais), he doesn't have the title of "god". Zeno roughly translates to "King of All". We also don't know how he got his position since Zeno has the mentality of a child and doesn't seem to actually rule anything. Most of his "commands" are carried out by the Grand Minister, opening the question of who's ruling who.
* OutsideContextProblem: Even compared to a superpowered god that magically refuses to die and is causing rifts throughout every universe and reality, Zeno is on an entirely different scale.
* PersonOfMassDestruction: One of the most powerful examples in fiction. He trumps the entire cast up to this point by being capable of casually destroying the whole multiverse, consisting of 12 Universes. There were once 18 Universes, but 6 were destroyed by him. [[spoiler:His future self shows this by one shotting the future multiverse, which Zamasu had more or less ''[[GeniusLoci become]]'' at that point, to finally put the MadGod down once and for all.]]
* PhysicalGod: Considering he's higher on the cosmic food chain than Beerus and Champa, he has to be this by default. Whis outright says that there's no one higher than he.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: Even tinier than Monaka and packs enough punch to one-shot the ''entire multiverse''.
* PureIsNotGood: Beerus points out that he's innocent and noble... but that innocent nature is exactly what makes him ''dangerous''. Specifically, he's too innocent to truly understand the value of life, which is why he can play a game that involves destroying entire ''planets'' as a consequence and not be bothered in the slightest as long as he gets his enjoyment out of it. [[spoiler:Ultimately played with, as the Zenos apparently value moral goodness, so much so the Tournament of Power was all a SecretTestOfCharacter banking on whoever one to be morally upright enough they'd save the other universes.]]
* PurpleIsPowerful: The coat he wears is mostly purple, and the left and right thirds of his head are another shade of purple.
* RousseauWasRight: [[spoiler:Seem to be a believer in this trope, as they believed from the get go that the winner of the Tournament of Power would wish back the destroyed universes and prove themselves a good person and the whole thing was a SecretTestOfCharacter.]]
* SecretTestOfCharacter: [[spoiler:The second point of the tournament and the Super Dragon Balls. They knew the winner of the tournament would have a virtuous heart and would resurrect all the destroyed universes. Had '''any''' other wish been made, the Zenos would have found no reason to keep any of the universes and would have just ended '''every''' universe, as in the context no matter what it'd be ''selfish'' for putting their own desires ahead of several entire universes. They are legitimately overjoyed when Android 17 passes the test. Only in the anime. Not so in the manga...]]
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: His name has been variably spelled as Zen'o, Zen'O, Zen-o, Zen-Oh, and Zeno across various media. '''Zeno''' is the official spelling given by the English dub.
* StoryBreakerPower: He is the single absolute most powerful being that ever exists. Even the likes of Beerus, Whis, Champa and Vados are well beneath him.
* TopGod: Beerus and Champa are gods of ''universes''. Zeno is their superior and the ruler of the ''multiverse''. According to Beerus, he's so powerful he could destroy the entire multiverse in an instant if he desired. [[spoiler: Which he did in the future when Future Zamasu became an EldritchAbomination and had to be put down.]]
* TranquilFury: His DissonantSerenity persists even when he's angry. Relatively minor offenses get a swift warning to cut it out or else, but if you really and truly hack him off ([[spoiler: like Infinite Zamasu killing everyone in the Future Trunks timeline]]), there'll be no warning. He'll just erase you from existence on the spot.
* UnblockableAttack: His "Erasure" ability is impossible to block; it affects anything Zeno wants, anywhere in the multiverse (including entire universes), and as soon as he clenches his fist, it's ''gone''.
* UnskilledButStrong: Zeno is possibly the most extreme example in the series. According to Whis, he isn't a fighter, he couldn't perceive Dypso's FasterThanLight attacks (to be fair, neither could Hit, a highly skilled fighter) nor could he keep track of whose God of Destruction is fighting who in the manga, and never demonstrates himself to be any stronger or faster than his childlike figure would suggest. However, none of that is important because he can instantly and irrevocably disintegrate anything he wants, anywhere he wants, and at any scale he wants (up to the entire multiverse) with no possibility of blocking or dodging the attack. Shin also implies he's NighInvulnerable, his alternate future self being the one being in all of creation that Zamasu could not get rid of.
* VerbalTic: Zeno loves to use the word "ne" at the end of his sentences, ne?
* WorldsBestWarrior: Noticeably {{subverted}} with Zeno. Beerus makes it a point to say that Zeno isn't a fighter, but he has ''no'' equal in the multiverse since he can erase anything.
* WorldsStrongestMan: He is able to wipe out ''all'' twelve universes in an instant and strikes fear into Champa and Beerus. According to Beerus, there is ''nothing'' stronger than Zeno in any universe, making him the true strongest man in the Dragon World.
* XanatosGambit: [[spoiler: The whole point of the Tournament of Power is to see if mortals are capable of showing empathy for each other in the face of annihilation (if so, they would use the infinite power of the Super Dragon Balls to revive their fallen "enemies" in other universes, who were just trying to survive themselves). On one hand, if the victor of the Tournament defied Zeno's supposed will by reviving the erased universes, it would indicate a capability for goodness that merited allowing all mortals to live (remember the rationale for erasing universes in the first place is most universes not showing improvement). On the other hand, if mortals disappointed him in his goal by making a selfish wish, he would have just destroyed everything altogether. Whether mortals learn to better themselves or Zeno simply ends all mortals, he no longer has to worry about them. This trope is completely subverted in the manga, as Zeno couldn't care less about which universe won and what wish was made, selfish or not.]]

!!Present Zeno
* AccidentalHero: His arrival at the end of the Universe 6 vs. Universe 7 tournament [[spoiler:prevents Champa from killing his team in a rage for losing]], but didn't seem to be his intention.
* AffectionateNickname: Goku calls him [=Zen-''chan''/Zenny=], much to Beerus' (and later all other universes' angels and gods') horror.
* AllPowerfulBystander: The most powerful being in existence, but never plays an active role and just watches. Beerus states that Zeno doesn't fight, but he can destroy ''anything''. According to Whis, there used to be eighteen Universes, but Zeno destroyed six of them when he was upset.
* AmbiguousInnocence: The most powerful God in existence, that could destroy all universes in the blink of an eye, and he acts like a small child. The fact he will destroy the losers universes in the Universe Survival Arc, and was playing with his future counterpart a chess like game while destroying 202 real planets just brings to question how [[BlueAndOrangeMorality otherworldly]] the Lord of All is. There is a reason why Beerus and Champa are scared shitless of him. On top of it all, it's revealed during the Universe Survival Arc that [[spoiler:Zeno was planning to destroy some of the other universes to begin with, and Goku reminding him of the Tournament of Power just gave him a convenient excuse to do so... [[SecretTestOfCharacter supposedly]].]]
* AuthorityEqualsAsskicking: The ruler of the multiverse is the single strongest being in it, able to wipe out creation if he so desires.
* AuthorityInNameOnly: Even though he rules the multiverse, it's the gods below him that actually run it and the Grand Minister is shown to do the leg work when it comes to fulfilling his (sometimes vague) demands. Zeno is as childlike as his appearance suggests, rarely getting involved, and seems to spend most of his time playing. That said, he does show up to chide Beerus and Champa for ignoring their duties in favor of a tournament, though he let that go because he enjoyed it.
* BodyguardingABadass: Has two attendants that serve as his bodyguards, but he really doesn't need them. In fact he's far more powerful than them, and has them terrified with one idle threat. Considering his [[IJustWantToHaveFriends wishes]] though, he likely keeps them around more for company than actual need of bodyguards. Alternatively, they're there to protect everyone else ''from'' him.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: In all the time he's shown, Zeno has shown zero actual leadership qualities, doing nothing but relaxing, playing games, and giving orders when he wants something, leaving all delegating and kingly duties and, well, ''thinking'' to his decidedly shady Grand Minister: at no point has he demonstrated what landed him the position as King of Everything other than being able to annihilate anyone who disagrees. [[spoiler:But ultimately, all he really wants is mortals (and presumably their gods) to be capable of feeling enough empathy for each other that they can improve their universes.]]
* DestroyerDeity: Whatever he wants erased, ''[[CessationOfExistence gets erased.]]''
* DisproportionateRetribution: Although generally nicer like Beerus, he's a rather spoiled god who will get more than a little angry if everything isn't according to his design. He once destroyed six of the formerly eighteen universes over not getting his way on something, which is implied to have been trivial.
* TheDreaded:
** ''His mere presence'' causes [[PhysicalGod Beerus and Champa]] to freak out, and for good reasons. There used to be 18 Universes instead of just 12; Zeno destroyed 6 of them when angry.
** Remember his Attendants that guarded him? Well when they're concerned about Goku's lack of respect, he outright tells them to "shut up or be destroyed". They immediately go back to their positions.
** Lessened only a little in the ending. [[spoiler: Beerus, Shin, and Old Kai, who have spent the whole series sucking up to Zeno, are relaxed just enough to keep Goku from talking to Zeno about any ideas he has, and even say they will be going home now (contrast to earlier in the series, where the message was you do not get to leave Zeno's presence until he ''says'' you can. Of course, they're still doing so ''immensely'' respectfully and with some fear, because while Zeno is not the mindless destroyer they thought he was, he can still Erase anybody who displeases him too much.]]
* TheGadfly: Trolls Beerus and Champa for a bit by suggesting that he's going to appoint new Gods of Destruction... before saying he was just kidding.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: Behind all that power and authority, he's a lonely little guy who's never been talked to as an equal before Goku. He even specifically calls Goku from Universe 7 just to play with him. [[spoiler:Goku brings his Future counterpart to him and they instantly become friends.]]
* JerkassGod: While he seems like a NiceGuy at first, having limitless power and the mentality of a child means he can destroy anything he wants for extremely petty reasons. In the past, he destroyed 6 universes, when there was once 18, because he was upset, or a little spoiled depending on the translation. Later on he holds a Tournament of Power between all the Universes, where the punishment for losing is [[spoiler:the destruction of said losing universe. It was revealed that he had been planning to weed out the weak universes to begin with and was using the tournament as an excuse to do so.]] Ultimately subverted in the anime, since the entire point of the tournament is not to just entertain him, but to [[spoiler:[[SecretTestOfCharacter test the winner of the tournament]]. If the winner's wish is to revive fallen universes, then they are the most virtuous person in the multiverse. If their wish is selfish, then they and the rest of existence (even the universes not participating in the tournament) would be erased on the spot]].
* LonelyAtTheTop: An ''eternity'' of being feared as a force of nature to whom ''constant'' respect '''must''' be paid would build thick walls behind which crippling loneliness would grow. This is why Zeno took such a fondness to Goku for being the first ever ''being'' to treat him as just another person, without ''any'' of the false respect and obsequious formalities that he is no doubt ''sick to death'' of. Even the Angelic Minders of the Gods of Destruction, who are familiar and casual around him, are distant acquaintances at ''best.'' Little wonder Zeno coldly snapped at Shin to ''"be quiet"'' when the latter tried to unnecessarily paint Goku's genuine-fondness of him as being "''honored'' at fulfilling this ''duty''", and his own guards when they think Goku was being disrespectful to him.
* MoodSwinger: So far, he's been shown mainly in a good mood, but if someone gets on his nerves by being too obeisant or interfering with what he wants, he quickly adopts a harsher tone and tells them to stop or be destroyed, a threat he is incredibly capable of following through on.
* MoralityChain: It's implied that the Grand Minister keeps him in line to ensure he doesn't get into a bad mood and ruin what universes are left from his previous temper tantrum. Interesting to note, as anyone else who dares to reason with him or dissuade Zeno from a bad idea gets threatened or easily intimidated into blind obedience. Goku also functions as this to a lesser extent as they are both very friendly towards each other as well as actually heeding Goku's request about making the [[spoiler: Tournament of Power instead of just destroying all the weaker universes on the spot.]]
* NonActionGuy: Downplayed. Zeno doesn't fight at all, and doesn't need to. If he has a big enough problem with something (be it a person, place or entire universe) he just wipes it from existence.
* NoodleIncident: We don't get any details, but Whis mentions that he once got upset enough about something that he wiped ''six universes'' from existence.
* NotHelpingYourCase: His IJustWantToHaveFriends. Really, can you blame everyone (sans Goku) for being mere [[YesMan Yes-Men]] around him when his record includes such a DisproportionateRetribution NoodleIncident (see above)? Even more so once you see his actions and motives during the Universe Survival Saga.
* PutThemAllOutOfMyMisery: Decides that there are too many universes and judges them based on [[HumansAreSpecial their quality of life for mortals]], unfortunately he invokes a DuelToTheDeath for the low-scoring cosmos, and has [[ItIsBeyondSaving no interest in saving what is good for the universes that lose]].
** [[spoiler: He actually qualifies for this trope for different reasons. They really wanted to test mortals to see if they were right about mortals' capacity for good was greater than their selfish or evil desires. If the Zenos turned out to be wrong about mortals, they were going to delete everything on the spot.]]
* ScrewTheRulesIMakeThem: How he treats the Tournament of Power. He's perfectly willing to allow competitors to break the rules if they do so [[RuleOfCool in a sufficiently cool way]]. Then again, entertaining him is [[JustifiedTrope basically why the tournament was held in the first place]].
* SecretTestOfCharacter: [[spoiler:It turns out the entire Tournament of Power was this -- if the winner had made a selfish wish, he would have erased absolutely everything on the spot. Fortunately for the multiverse, Android 17 wished instead to bring back all the destroyed universes.]]
* TheSocialDarwinist: It's revealed in episode 80 that he was already planning to destroy weak universes before Goku reminded him of the Tournament of Power, since he thinks there are too many universes and wants to use this tournament to weed out all the universes (excluding U1, U5, U8 and U12 which pass the 7 point ratio), until only one is left standing. [[spoiler:Ultimately subverted. He apparently values goodness and the whole tournament was a SecretTestOfCharacter.]]
* SummonBiggerFish: Gives Goku a button to call him if needed. [[spoiler:Goku presses it and summons Future Zeno to destroy Fusion Zamasu, who'd essentially become a reality-spanning EldritchAbomination at that point. Future Zeno one shots him.]]
* TranquilFury: Whenever he gets upset or angry, he never raises his voice or gives an indication of it. He simply calmly warns not to continue doing it or he'll wipe you out.
* WhatsUpKingDude: While all the gods and attendants are freaking out over Goku's casual nature, Zeno is pretty relaxed about it. In fact, he likes Goku ''because'' Goku treats him like a normal guy, not just a powerful one. Goku's nickname for him, [=Zen-chan/Zenny=], is about as informal as you could possibly get, but Zeno is perfectly fine about it. [[spoiler:Similarly, his Future self seems fine with Goku's casual, forward responses, and is delighted when he meets his Present self - ie someone on the same level as him, and the same wish for companionship]].

misuse Too impluasible with the Gods of Destruction.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Choosing people to become Gods of Destruction based on strength is all good when you need to be able to destroy anything if necessary, but it seems other important factors like dedication to the job and good judgement were forgotten in the interview process. As such, all the Gods of Destruction are roughly as powerful as each other, but their ''competence'' on the other hand is all over the place.
Is there an issue? Send a MessageReason:
Actually, Shin is a special exception due to being the only surviving Kaioshin. If there were all four of them still around, Beerus would have more backups. Other universes do in fact reference multiple Kais/Kaioshins, as Zamasu was stated to be a North Kai before getting found by Gowasu. I think the reason we only see one Kaioshin per universe in the Tournament is because they chose one representative Kaioshin rather than get all four of them to go

* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: Strangely mixed with LaterInstallmentWeirdness. The Buu Saga makes the notion that the Supreme Kais follow the same formula as the lower kais: Four kais governing a portion of their universe and a Grand kai that rules over all. Super later reveals that only the current Supreme Kai is connected to the Destroyer of their universe, and also that any other Universe only has a singular Supreme Kai with no mention of a Grand Supreme Kai. Strangely, there is no attempts to reconcile this in canon, largely leaving things unexplored.

* TheAgeless: Heavily implied that becoming a God of Destruction stops aging outright, seeing how Supreme Kais live for millions of years and are supposed to be their contemporaries. It would also explain why Whis would tease the idea of Goku or Vegeta replacing Beerus, as otherwise they would be dead and gone from that position in less than two centuries.

----
* ButtMonkey: To a degree. He's actually inside the battlefield, and thus is in harm's way most of the time.
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Ever since the end of the Universe 6/7 tournament, he hasn't been seen or mentioned again. We don't even know what universe he's from (although it may be from Universe 6 as Champa personally selected him, but even then, he was unbiased and took his job seriously).
** LongBusTrip: [[spoiler:He makes a brief cameo in the Granolah arc several years after his first appearance. It appears to confirm that he is a Universe 7 native.]]
* CombatCommentator: He is the announcer for Beerus and Champa's tournament.
* CombatReferee: Both the announcer and referee for Beerus and Champa's tournament. He's fairly competent at his job, and would've [[spoiler:disqualified Frost outright]] for cheating if Vegeta hadn't wanted to take him out personally.
* EasilyDistractedReferee: Subverted, he's actually pretty on the ball, to the point of picking up Vegeta standing on a rock meaning he was just barely avoiding a ring out.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: He's only referred to as either "Tournament Presenter" or "Referee", as those are his jobs in Beerus and Champa's tournament.
* TheGreys: His eyes are based off the same design as Grey aliens.
* LethallyStupid: Subverted. He has the audacity to loudly ask who ''[[TheDreaded Zeno]]'' is, leading Zeno's attendants to glare at him. Since very few mortals even know of Zeno's existence, his mistake is understandable. Thankfully, Zeno either doesn't hear him or doesn't care, so he makes it out intact.
* MrExposition: His antenna can receive notifications, and is thus the one explaining a lot about the Universe 6 competitors.
* NoNameGiven: He's only referred to as either "Tournament Presenter" or "Referee", with his proper name being unknown.
* SeriousBusiness: Like any good referee, he takes the rules very seriously and gives no quarter to cheaters. [[spoiler:When he discovers that Frost has been using poison needles the entire time, he disqualifies him on the spot and annuls all of his victories, bringing Piccolo and more crucially Goku back onto the table. He reluctantly allows Frost to continue fighting when Vegeta requests to pummel the cheating bastard himself.]]

** Despite his insignificant role, he incrementally appears in both the manga and anime versions of the story, as he was designed by Akira Toriyama himself.

!!Makkora (マッコラ)

A female angel. This character is possibly a scrapped design for one of the angels. Due to wearing her angel halo in her neck, it is likely she is another daughter of the Grand Minister.
----
* EdibleThemeNaming: Despite being a scrapped character, she got a name: Makkora, possibly from Makgeolli.

!!Kiyoshi Hikawa (氷川 きよし, ''Hikawa Kiyoshi'')
[[quoteright:275:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kiyoshi_hikawa_artwork.png]]
->'''Voiced by (Japanese):''' Himself

The narrator of Episode 115's highlight. Designed to look a lot like him, except he's wearing Goku's gi. Also the singer of the Limit Break × Survivor opening.

----
* AdaptationDyeJob: The real Kiyoshi Hikawa has black hair, he doesn't have the blond hair his anime counterpart does.
* AsHimself: Literally the singer of the Limit Breaker × Survivor opening.
* BadassBystander: Might just be odd to have a singer in the midst of all of the chaos in the Tournament of Power, but he would seem capable of fighting, especially compared to other fighters.
* TheCameo: Cameos at the very beginning of Episode 115's "Highlight of this Week" to narrate the main point of the episode.
* KamehameHadoken: Fires a Kamehameha out at the end of his narration.

* AboveGoodAndEvil: How the gods could be described; they usually never intervene unless they absolutely ''need'' to or even ''choose'' to.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: PlayedWith since each god has a complex moral code at their best and worst.
* GodIsFlawed: They all possess imperfections and shortcomings, which shows through how the universes are ranked in terms of overall development. Before the Tournament of Power, those who have performed their duties the worst or not to the best of their abilities are revealed to be at risk of getting themselves and their respective corners of reality [[CessationOfExistence erased]].
* GodJob: {{Deconstructed}}. Their positions are merely occupations at best, which they all treat with varying levels of care. Depending on how well they do their overseen universe is given an appropriate measure of ranking.
* OurGodsAreDifferent: The deific figures of ''Franchise/DragonBall'' can be injured and even outright killed. In addition, they have their own thoughts and desires that conflict with what they've been assigned.
* TheGodsMustBeLazy: Most of the universes are subjected to this; the [[DestroyerDeity
Gods of Destruction]] in particular have either not done anything productive at all or somehow mismanaged things.

These are the gods who are in charge of destroying planets so the Gods of Creation can create new ones. Despite being [[JerkassGods violent]], [[EvilIsPetty petty]], and [[SmugSuper smug about their power]], the Gods of Destruction are [[NecessarilyEvil necessary]] to keep the balance of the universe. It is also their job to destroy mortals who misuse the knowledge of the gods for their own personal gain. How one becomes a God a Destruction isn't known, except that they're appointed to the position and that they may have been mortals.

* AboveGoodAndEvil: King Kai describes Beerus, and by extension the Gods of Destruction in general, in these terms.

Asskicking Equals Authority has been renamed.

* AsskickingEqualsAuthority: They rule equally to the Supreme Kai of their universe and they're the strongest creatures in their universe outside of the angels. If Whis' comments in ''[[Anime/DragonBallZBattleofGods Battle of Gods]]'' and Toppo are any indication, any mortal can be chosen as a potential new god for training so long as they are strong enough.

Added DiffLines:

* RuleOfFunny: Toriyama’s eccentric sense of humour is the only real explanation to be found for why a presumably omnipotent dragon god would go through the mundane effort of filing a patent on the CheatedAngle for his planet-sized sacred orbs, and for any kind of patent office existing that early in the multiverse’s chronology.
