* AmbiguousDisorder: Displays symptoms consistent with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. For example, has trouble reading emotions and social situations, doesn't understand common sayings/metaphors, infodumps/rambles constantly, is incredibly impulsive and is constantly moving (stimming), especially when he's excited about something. Also definitely has some serious anxiety/PTSD due to Blackwing.

* AmbiguousDisorder: Has some unspecified mental health issues that prevented her from pursuing a career in law enforcement. She tends to immediately put all the blame on herself regardless of circumstances and is pretty paranoid; still, considering that her antagonists include a body-swapping cult, a rogue government agency, and a wizard, her paranoia is appropriate. Some of her mannerisms and insecurities also suggest she may have an autism-spectrum disorder or some kind of social anxiety disorder.

* AmbiguousDisorder: Season 2 shows hints that he may have some kind of disorder, with his childlike approach to everything he doesn’t understand, and his frustration, distress, and anger at himself for his lack of intelligence. His impatience and poor impulse control also seems to be part of it, with him even outright saying that if he thinks of something, he ''has'' to do it.

* TheWatson: He grows into this role over the course of the first season though he denies it at first.

* BalefulPolymorph: [[spoiler:He gets turned into a frog after the concert by his mother.]] He turns back after [[spoiler: Moloch undoes everything.]]

* IllGirl: She currently suffers from pararibulitis, an illness that causes intense, painful hallucinations, like that her hands are on fire or she's drowning. (Which can actually kill her, due to YourMindMakesItReal.) Todd had the same thing ([[spoiler:or so he claimed before Amanda contracted it]]), but his parents spent a fortune on medications for him, leading Amanda to suffer continuously since they are now broke.

* IllBoy: Suffered from an illness back in college that made him hallucinate and have intense pain. [[spoiler:[[PlayingSick Or so he told his parents]]. By the end of the first season, however, he contracts the disease for real.]]

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: His hair is pink and white, like all members of his family.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Like her brother, she has pink and white hair.

* FriendlessBackground: Due to being raised in Blackwing, and to his psychic abilites, he has no friends; and if he meets someone they rarely stay.

* NewAgeRetroHippie: The group started out as a psychedelic hippie commune that was squatting in Zachariah Webb's house. It has since become a sinister cult of brainwashed nutjobs.

* MulticoloredHair: Primarily bright orange with streaks of various other colours.

* HeartIsAnAwesomePower: Compared to the powers of the other Subjects presented in the series (having PlotArmor, feeding on emotions, ShapeShifting and making your dreams real), being a CoincidenceMagnet isn't nearly as impressive. Looking at it through a much bigger picture, his abilities tend to ''also'' make him a WeirdnessMagnet, with a lot of unusual variables he encounters canceling each other out (Bart helping stop The Men of The Machine, introducing Amanda to the Rowdy Three and returning Moloch to Wendimoor). Moloch even claims that his purpose is to bring the right people together to create greater change in the world, making Dirk the holistic equivalent of TheChessmaster.

* {{Shapeshifter}}: She can turn into anything or anyone, which allows her to easily infiltrate and move around Blackwing undetected. Her limits are implied to be very high, since Ken clarifies that calling her a shapeshifter is too simple. The forms she takes in the series include a [[spoiler: stress toy, mouse, piece of paper, rubber ball, soldier, soap bubble, toy car, moth, pistol, chain, cannon, motorcycle, machine gun, leather jacket,]] and of course a young woman.

* PlayAlongPrisoner: As an extension of her PlotArmor, the universe won't allow her to be held anywhere against her will. Prison doors are always unlocked for her.

* EvilSorcerer: He's one of two magicians in Wendimoor (before Suzie comes along, anyway), but while Wakti is a wise-old woman who keeps to herself, theMage is nothing short of a monster.

* {{Seer}}: She was the one who foretold Dirk's arrival in Wendimoor.

* NotSoDifferent: Like Queen Frija he's a stubborn jerk who ignores his more sensible kids.

* HeroicBSOD: After [[spoiler:Suzie Boreton kills Arnold Cardenas]], Dirk concludes that he has failed to complete the task given to him, and becomes near-catatonic compared to his usual demeanour.

* TheCorruptor: Breifly play some this role to Hugo.

* DistaffCounterpart: It's hinted that one or more may be this to the Rowdy Three given the appearance of Project Sucubus (a female counterpart to the Incubus) on the subject list.

* BewareTheSillyOnes: Soft-spoken, endearingly ditzy, often confused, very much a CloudCuckooLander...and capable of turning into a fully-functional cannon and killing a room full of heavily armed men in one shot.

* CloudCuckooLander: Spending most of her time as various inanimate objects has made her a little...weird. She can be anything, but she doesn't know what she's supposed to be, and she apparently doesn't consider turning into a chain and choking someone to be attempted murder. Since she can apparently do ''much'' more drastic things, though, that one kind of makes sense.

* PsychicPowers: Downplayed, but definitely there. WordOfGod calls it “psychic intuition“. It tends to exasperate him because while he gets clear impressions of what's going to happen, it's often without any meaningful context that allows him to determine the best course of action.

* RedemptionEqualsDeath: After being impaled, [[spoiler:he draws on ''Ken'' who is trying to keep Dirk from completing his case. Then Ken kicks his lifeless body through the portal, which gets stuck in the inbetween space.]]

* TheStarscream: At the end of season 1, [[spoiler:he usurps Colonel Riggins' command and has all Black Wing subjects arrested]].
