* UselessUsefulSkill: His unique perk Autodidact allows him to gain stacking bonuses to hitting Good skill checks while healing his fellow survivors, up to a 75% buff at maximum, meaning actually nailing one at max stacks can result in half a bar's worth of progress. However, while Autodidact is equipped, he cannot make Great skill checks, and Good ones suffer from a 25% progression penalty by default, meaning he heals for far less to start with, and has to gradually earn stacks by healing somebody else to ramp it up, making it incredibly fiddly to utilize in actual gameplay. To make things worse, Autodidact does not apply to Med-kit heals, meaning he has to be mending somebody slowly by hand for it to trigger.

** His perks reflect this, as while he still won't be able to take a Killer on in a straight fight, it allows for a more aggressive, proactive playstyle, letting him dive in and take blows aimed for his friends, constantly get back up from dying as long as he isn't hooked, and be less noisy and trackable at the cost of being always injured.

* DeathOrGloryAttack: Sorta. Dead Hard lets him tank a blow and get a Deep Wound instead of going down, but it has to be timed perfectly, or else he'll just be hit normally. On top of that, it only works if he's injured, so if he misses the timing, down he goes.

* SuperToughness: Downplayed. While he can be downed and hooked just like anyone else, his perks let him narrowly deflect an attack with the right timing and let him get up from the dying state infinitely, so long as he's allowed to. !!Jane Romero - A influential celebrity

[[caption-width-right:350: ''"Ok, stay calm. Don't overthink it and just keep moving forward: you got this."'']]

Jane never really knew her mother, a famous actress named Loretta Lawrence, as her parents divorced while she was a baby due to Loretta always being away from home to film. She resented her mother for being away all the time and leaving them alone but at the same time admired her performance on the screen. She wanted to be like her mother, so she performed in plays and auditioned for commercials. Eventually, a radio station took notice when she won first place at a national oratory contest and asked for an interview. Her natural charm and repartee impressed them, earning a part-time job at the station.\\
\\
After graduating college, Jane quit her job to work for a trendy variety show. But her delivery and ad-libbing weren't impressive, and she was fired just five months later. Desperate, she pitched a show at her old radio station, but it was turned down due to being "too risky." Months later, she got a call from a producer who had seen re-runs of the show. He was looking for a new co-host to potentially revive a failing show named Quick Talk. The show had a very crude and inflammatory tone, but she disputed this and instead focused on discussing personal problems. Within weeks, the show's viewership was growing again.\\
\\
Two years later, she launched her own full-hour segment: The Jane Romero Show, a nationally broadcast show that covered "taboo" topics, such as her own abandonment issues. The show broke records and soon Jane's name could be seen on all sorts of products such as beauty cream. She eventually published a memoir, covering her childhood without her mother. It was a best-seller, but was reviewed harshly by critics.\\
\\
Jane decided to do a two-hour long special episode on the topic of divorce. The topic was already stressful to her enough, but that stress grew drastically when her mother Loretta agreed to make a guest appearance for the special. Jane tried to keep the interview civil and calm, but eventually Loretta interrupted her, claiming that she and Jane were not related at all. The interview went to hell soon after. Afterwards, Jane went to drive to New Jersey to talk to her father. After popping a few painkillers to help the throbbing pain in her temples that had been bugging her all day, her vision began to blur. Soon, Jane couldn't stop her eyes from closing.\\
\\
The morning after, the police found her car deep in water. Her body wasn't found, despite weeks-long searches. Both her parents attended her funeral. All of the episodes of The Jane Romero Show were re-released a month later, all starting with an opening tribute for her, wishing her peace.\\
\\
As a Survivor, Jane's unique perks Solidarity, Poised and Head On allow her to help both teammates and her equally, remain stealthy and get the jump on the Killer.\\

----
* BerserkButton: The mere sight of her mother, who all but abandoned her since childhood. It gets even worse when she says they're not actually related during a live show.
* BigBeautifulWoman: Jane often sticks out from the other female survivors due to her curves, but it doesn't earn her any less adoration from the fans and cosmetics that compliment her figure. This usually ends up playing against her favor, however, as her larger character model makes it easier for Killers to spot her even when she's hiding.
* CelebritySurvivor: Before the Entity abducted Jane, she had her own nationally syndicated talk show as well as multiple product endorsements.
* HartmanHips: What do you mean you didn't notice?
* InTheBlood: Jane inherited much of her mother's charisma and talent, and she knows this.
* LovedByAll: Jane was a nationally adored talk show host and celebrity prior to her disappearance.
* TheMedic: Her "Solidarity" perk allows her to recover health when healing other survivors.
* ParentalNeglect: Jane grew up mostly in the care of her father, while [[WhenYouComingHomeDad her mother is usually away]] due to being MarriedToTheJob.
* StepfordSmiler: Her cutscene from the second Tome of the Archives shows her crying to herself before being called on the phone for her show. When she gets there, she takes a moment to prepare herself then walks on-stage with a smile on her face.
* ShoutOut: Her surname is a reference to Creator/GeorgeARomero.
* StoutStrength: Jane is full-figured and can body-slam killers once every 40 seconds with her "Head On" perk.
* TokenMinority: In-universe she struggled to be taken seriously as an actress and actively refused to do any kind of stereotypical Latina accent for her parts.

%%"An alone wolf" is a deliberate misspelling as the phrase is a quote/reference from Ash vs Evil Dead.

Ash Williams was just an average guy working at S-Mart when [[Film/TheEvilDead1981 he and a group of friends went out for a weekend at a cabin in the woods]]. While they only meant to party around and get high, they ended up discovering a creepy old book and reading from it. Unfortunately, that book happened to be the ''Necronomicon ex Mortis''... the [[TomeOfEldritchLore Book of the Dead]]. The book unleashed a torrent of evil spirits known as Deadites that possessed most of the group, eventually leaving Ash the sole survivor. As he tried to escape the cabin, though, the evil force [[Film/EvilDead2 dragged him back in to play some more]].\\
\\
Meeting with a few new allies that sought to get rid of the Deadites, Ash's hand ended up possessed, so he had to chop it off to prevent it from spreading. Having had enough, Ash went to work customizing a chainsaw and shotgun into his new signature weapons and defeated the demon in the cabin's cellar. However, the attempt to use the Book to exorcise the others went wrong and opened a portal in time, sending Ash to the Middle Ages. [[Film/ArmyOfDarkness After escaping enslavement and impressing the primitive screwheads with his prowess]], Ash led the charge against the invading Army of Darkness (which he had accidentally summoned via bungling the incantation to get rid of them) and returned to his own time.\\
\\
[[Series/AshVsEvilDead Years later, after hoping to bury the traumas of his past]], Ash accidentally summoned the Evil Dead back to this world when he read the Book completely stoned to impress a lady. Teaming up with his Value Stop co-workers Pablo and Kelly, Ash came out of retirement to save the world from evil once again.\\
\\
''[[{{Catchphrase}} Groovy.]]''\\
\\
As a Survivor, Ash's unique perks Flip-Flop, Buckle Up and Mettle of Man allow him to both help him and his teammates out of desperate situations while also making himself tougher.\\
\\
'''''Ashley J. Williams is the thirteenth new survivor added to the game with the release of the Ash vs Evil Dead paragraph on April 2nd, 2019.'''''

'''''Ash is the fifth GuestFighter survivor to be added in the game, coming from [[Franchise/EvilDead Evil Dead]].'''''
----
* AdaptationalWimp: One of the biggest cases so far, alongside Bill and the ''Resident Evil'' crew, as he has neither his chainsaw or his boomstick at his disposal. This is ignoring the fact that even in his advanced age in ''Ash vs. Evil Dead'', he was still fully capable of trouncing Baal, an ''elder demon'', so badly that he had to resort to cheating by unleashing his true powers, and this was done with only his GoodOldFisticuffs instead of relying on his chainsaw or trusty Boomstick. If anything, he of all people ''should'' be more than capable of handing the Killers' asses to them with his robot hand, had he only been allowed to fight back.
* AgeLift: His in-game model is significantly younger-looking than how he did in ''Series/AshVsEvilDead'', with most of his gray hair being gone and him being more physically fit than his live-action incarnation, however, he's clearly older and heavier than he was in Film/ArmyOfDarkness.
* TheAlcoholic: Based on the lore, he still seems to be a heavy drinker who enjoys going to bars a lot.
* ArtificialLimbs:
** Has a robotic hand to replace the one he lost back in ''Evil Dead 2''. It is the one used in the Ash vs. the Evil Dead series instead, rather than the one he had back in ''Army of Darkness''. One purchasable outfit replaces this with [[HandPuppet Ashy Slashy]], who seems to be inert this time.
** Another purchasable outfit replaces his hand with the android prosthetic he received in the SeriesFinale of ''Ash vs. Evil Dead''.
** The mobile version has multiple hand choices. In addition to the ones listed above are Pablo's Handiwork and Pablo's custom job, which are variations of the power glove from the series, as well as a "carved wooden hand" which looks somewhat normal and actually comes with a cuff.
* AuraVision: Buckle Up allows Ash to see the recovery progress of a dying survivor, and if he manages to heal them back to the injured state, both of them can see the Killer's aura for a few seconds.
* BlueIsHeroic: His default look includes a bright blue shirt, and he is TheHero of his franchise. His other available outfits include the Hawaiian shirt from season two, his normal attire with a red Value Stop vest, a blue Christmas sweater with a chainsaw design, and his final outfit in the series finale, so every available outfit Ash has is a blue shirt of some type.
* ButForMeItWasTuesday: By this point, Ash has gotten use to supernatural horror that he only reacts with mild annoyance getting trapped in the Entity realm. Subverted in gameplay where he seems just as horrified as the rest of the Survivors.
* ButtMonkey: The way he gets to the Entity realm is actually played for BlackComedy unlike the other Survivors who were taken there in pretty horrific ways.
* CoolOldGuy: He's spent decades fighting off demonic forces and despite his age, is more than capable of surviving the Entity's killers.
* ContinuitySnarl: Ash's in-game lore text establishes that his being taken by the Entity happens after the conclusion of the third season of ''Ash vs. Evil Dead'', and yet he still retains the Power Glove that Pablo built for him instead of the bionic hand that the Knights of Sumeria had constructed in its place, alongside his signature outfit rather than the futuristic jumpsuit that the order gave him when he woke up in the future. While said hand is available as a purchasable cosmetic, it raises the question of why it's not a default part of him to begin with instead of the other way around. That being said, given that the same lore article also described how Ash suddenly finding himself clothed when transported into the realm, it's probable that his current attire was replicated by the Entity on a whim, Power Glove included.
** A recent update to Ash's cosmetics include the outfit that Ash was seen wearing in the last scene of the series, and also includes the updated robotic hand that he's using when he comes out of stasis.
* DeadpanSnarker: His dialogue and his reaction to getting trapped in the Entity's realm.
* DifficultButAwesome: Downplayed, but two of his three perks require him to be hurt first before they could activate. Mettle of Man is a good example of this, requiring him to take at least 3 hits to protect other Survivors before he can use it, while also greatly increasing his chances of becoming the killer's Obsession and [[DrawAggro revealing his location to them]] if he's healed up while at a certain distance away, but for the entire duration of its effects, he will be able to NoSell an attack that should have put him into bleedout. Healing afterwards will reveal his position to the killer, however.
* DirtyOldMan: As indicated in his background, Ash is still as flirtatious as he was when he was younger.
* DrawAggro: His Mettle of Man perk enforces this on a technical level by giving the player a 100% increased likelihood of being selected as the Killer's obsession.
* ExperiencedProtagonist: By the time he was trapped in the Entity's twisted game, Ash had tons of experience dealing with the demonic forces.
* ForgotAboutHisPowers: His expertise as a GadgeteerGenius in his home series is not carried over to the Entity's trials, where he can be outdone in repairing generators by younger, less-experienced survivors. His [[MacGyvering uncanny ability to create weapons out of basic scrap]] seems to have been lost too. Do keep in mind that this is the same guy who [[Film/ArmyOfDarkness managed to refit a beaten-up Oldsmobile into a Deadite-mulching vehicle of doom while trapped in medieval England with nothing but sheer mechanical know-how.]]
* GuestFighter: From ''Franchise/EvilDead'', more specifically ''Series/AshVsEvilDead''.
* GatheringSteam: Mettle of Man gains charges by [[TakingTheBullet taking Protection hits]] in place of your teammates. The real problem is racking up three of those without downing yourself to activate it in the first place, and Protection hits can be deceptively difficult to accrue depending on how skilled you, the Killer, and your teammates are.
* HandicappedBadass: He was forced to cut his own right hand off after it was possessed by demonic spirits, and depending on the player's cosmetics, has a robotic hand, a wooden hand, or a ''hand puppet'' in place of it. It didn't stop him from fighting off the Deadites and it doesn't stop him from going up against the supernaturally powered killers of the Entity's realm.
* HereWeGoAgain: His reaction to arriving in the realm of the Entity.
* HeroicResolve: In his home series Ash is a CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass who has a way of [[LetsGetDangerous getting dangerous]] after being beaten up by whatever supernatural beastie he's fighting, allowing him to turn the tides and ultimately defeat them. While he can't physically raise his hand against Killers in this game, this is still reflected in the effect of his Mettle of Man perk, where sheer determination alone is enough to allow him to NoSell a basic attack that would normally send him into the Dying state. Provided he can avoid being downed again after triggering it and keep getting away with taking Protection Hits, a skilled Ash can get extremely good mileage out of Mettle of Man and be a real nuisance to Killers who don't have a means of circumventing it.
* HighlyVisibleNinja: He's guilty of this like Laurie before him. In a game where stealth is imperative to survival, he starts out wearing a bright blue shirt. His other outfits are no better, either, one of which turns him into a walking HawaiianShirtedTourist, and the other giving him a bright red vest from his job as a department store stock boy. And as the cherry on top, his pained groans are among the loudest in the game, making Ash incredibly easy to spot when wounded. The mobile version allows you to mix and match a bit, so you can dress Ash in the darker Hawaiian shirt and the darker pants, which allows for at least some additional stealth in darker maps. Ash is also a character that is beneficial to max level quickly, to unlock the "Bloody Ash" face and outfit, which darkens the bright blue shirt considerably, and makes him harder to spot in darker maps.
* IconicOutfit: As per the films, Ash's main outfit was a blue button down and dark pants or khakis, and the game model dresses him in his series outfit, which he wore in every episode.
* InkSuitActor: Unlike most of the other crossover characters, Ash is modeled to resemble Creator/BruceCampbell as closely as possible, due to Behaviour managing to secure the rights to use both his likeness and voice.
* JokeCharacter: Due to the ability to mix and match outfits, you can wear Ash's main blue button down with the shotgun holster as a top, and have it tucked into the shorts and sandals with socks bottoms that go with the Hawaiian shirt. To say they look incongruous together is an understatement.
** Also, one of his cosmetics is the "Ashy Slashy" hand puppet which functions just the same as all of his other hands in a match, despite it having a mouth instead of fingers.
* JokeItem: Played with: One of Ash's hand cosmetics is, of course, the Ashy Slashy puppet, and when worn during a match, not only does it have no special functions in particular, but when healing or repairing generators, the puppet behaves the same as a real hand with fingers, which is quite the visual.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: On occasion, after waiting in a lobby for long enough, Ash might ask "Are we going to be here all day?".
* MythologyGag:
** Him ending up in the Entity's realm is a result of him [[ImperfectRitual bungling False!Linda's incantation]] meant to portal him back to his friends. He seems to ''[[Film/ArmyOfDarkness still]]'' be really bad with [[Main/KlaatuBaradaNikto memorizing magic words]].
** One cosmetic option for his artificial hand is [[Series/AshVsEvilDead Ashy Slashy]].
* {{Nerf}}: He was one of the most powerful survivors on release due to his Mettle of Man perk, which originally triggered after taking 3 basic hits (unhooking a survivor also counted towards this) and would make him effectively invincible against any basic attack for the 4th hit. When it was recognized that this heavily punished the weaker half of the Killer roster (who can only do basic attacks), while not really affecting stronger Killers like Hillbilly or Huntress who use special attacks, the perk was changed to its current state where it requires 3 ''protection hits'' to trigger, though it now applies to any attack.
* SirSwearsalot: Swears in both his lore and in some of his dialogue.
* SituationalSword:
** Flip-Flop is literally useless if he isn't downed, is downed but then ignored by the killer to bleed out, is downed and then picked up before he could start recovering, or is grabbed from a window/locker instead of picked up while injured, as it converts part of his Recovery meter to Wiggle progress to allow him to break free more easily while being moved to a hook.
** It is also of no use if a killer uses a Memento Mori or perk to bypass the hooks and kill him directly. This makes Flip-Flop especially worthless if playing against an experienced Shape who has the Tombstone Piece or Judith's Tombstone, since those allow the killer to off him instantly from full health at Evil Within III, bypassing the need to down, carry, and hook him entirely.
* SuddenlyVoiced: The first Survivor in the game to have fully spoken dialogue, as he briefly talks when selecting him in the main menu and lobby.
* TeleportationMisfire: Him [[ImperfectRitual bungling False!Linda's incantation]] accidentally sends him to the Entity's realm instead of back to the real world.
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: His reaction when he finds himself in the Realm of the Entity, hearing screams in the distance.

Jumping off the bridge, he fought his way back to the generator, successfully restarting it. Before he could make it back, a devastating blow from a Tank sent him flying into a nearby generator room. Bill looked up, seeing the three Tanks charging at him, hearing his teammates scream his name from the bridge. He lit his cigarette one last time, and prepared to fight.\\

Though he ultimately managed to take down the Tanks with him, Bill could no longer cling to consciousness any longer, resting his eyes. After two tours in Vietnam and a knee full of shrapnel, William "Bill" Overbeck was honorably discharged and forced back into living a peaceful life, which he hated. Decades of drifting through endless dead-end jobs later, Bill went to the hospital for a routine surgery, only for a nurse to go crazy and attack the doctors. Fighting through the anesthesia, Bill managed to kill the nurse. Grabbing a bonesaw, he left the hospital to head home, only to discover the world he knew was now gone. The streets were now filled with sickly pale people, under the influence of a virus that transformed them into murderous undead.\\
