Volkov is one of the most unusual legends gameplay-wise. He pairs the straightforward, hard-hitting axe with the flashy, unorthodox scythe for a challenging, unpredictable playstyle. His signatures approach from very unexpected angles and hit harder than his 4 Strength would lead you to believe they would. His stats are lackluster, overemphasizing Dexterity, but his sigs move quickly enough to keep you from being punished too badly. Mastering Volkov's unique quirks gives you access to a secretly powerful legend that most people won't know how to fight properly.

* AnimalMotifs: Bats, natch. They surround him in most of his signatures, and his Blood Moon skin turns him into a bat-human hybrid monster.

With spear and gauntlets, Wu Shang is a formidable opponent both in and off stage. His strong and fast signature attacks make for great punishes and KO options, and his high dexterity stats facilitates aiming object and weapon throws.

Sidra boasts hard-hitting signatures that come out remarkably fast, but tend to become predictable. She'll take advantage of her good strength for quick K.O.s with the cannon and harassing the opponent with her sword. Her anti-air moves are acceptable, and she also has access to a powerful "ground pound" down signature with the sword that can make for devastating ledge-guarding.

Sir Roland is a primarily defensive-based character, with one of the highest Defense stats. His greatest weakness is his below-average speed. While chasing after an opponent may be difficult, keeping them at bay is facilitated by his attacks, which have wide hitboxes. However, his signature attacks tend to become predictable. It is best to focus on strings of light or standard heavy attacks, and punish with signatures when the opponent is damaged. His good toughness makes mistakes more forgivable.

Teros is a brute, with a double-edged playstyle. His attacks hit very hard and come out very slowly, both because of his stats and the weapons he uses. As such, he can land devastating blows with wide hitboxes, which are especially useful at cleaning up groups of adversaries. However, he may be harder to play as a duelist, as he can easily leave room for punishment between every attack.

Her neutral is un upwards stab that gains range the longer it is charged, her side is a sword swing that can create a small tornado that will travel farther the longer it is held, and her down creates a static gust of wind that can last longer if charged. Her spear signatures, however, mostly seem to be charged in order to delay them and adjust timing.

Asuri's a very fast and dexterous legend, with all but one of her attacks designed for offense. As such, she should always keep moving, keeping pressure on opponents or evading only to come back and regain the upper hand. Despite her below-average strength, her signatures hit quite hard.

* CatsAreMean: Averted, she's fierce in battles but rather friendly otherwise.

* RoarBeforeBeating: She often roars with attacks.

* WolverineClaws: Her Katars have multiple blades that remind of claws. In her Apex Predator alternate skin, they become [[NaturalWeapon natural weapons]].

* TheAtoner: Downplayed. He isn't remorseful of his lives as a tyrant, but just tired of being resurrected so often, and he hopes that a cycle of 10000 selfless acts may break the curse. He's just started.

* GratuitousSpanish: His default weapons are called "Los Volcanes" (The Volcanoes) and "El Carnicero" (The Butcher).

* GuestFighter: Her [[VideoGame/{{Rayman}} Barbara]] skin.

* MySpeciesDothProtestTooMuch: Her decision of bringing in legends like Teros and Petra into Valhalla are seen as pretty controversial to other Valkyries, while she claims that they work "too by the runes" to see greatness.

Caspian is good on offense and bases his defense on speed and unpredictable moves that fit his trickster archetype. The Katars add mobility and ranged attacks, while the gauntlets are better for pursuing, harassing and punishing careless attackers.

* {{UsefulNotes/Graffiti}}: One of his alternate skins gives him a modern-day look and a street art graffer flair. The ''Welcome to Brawlhalla'' animated short also shows Kor scrubbing a Graffiti of a Rose, a flower that features a lot in Caspian's iconography, on a statue.

* ThrowDownTheBomblet: All of his Gauntlets signatures involve bombs. They're even on his belt!

Diana is another well-rounded Legend, with emphasis on speed and dexterity. The bow should be used for long strings of light and air attacks in duels, and signatures are best kept for combo ends and crashing into melees of multiple opponents. The blasters are better for defense and chasing. Her main disadvantage may be that the signatures of both weapons, although hard-hitting, either have narrow/awkward hitboxes or quickly become predictable.

Ember is yet another highly offensive Legend whose DumpStat is Defense. Her bow is good for combos and punishing careless foes, but the patterns can quickly become predictable. The Katars benefit from unusual patterns and wide hitboxes, and are excellent both offensively and for counterattacking.

* LoyalAnimalCompanion: Two of them. Ash the Wolf and Yarra the raven come out in her bow side and neutral signatures, respectively.
* OddFriendship: With Ragnir. Her lore implies she stopped a fight he was in and scolded him (while he was in his 30 metres dragon form !), but that some time after her disappearance, he personally went to look for her and begged her to return to the Fangwild. In the Fangwild-themed battle pass trailer, she outright calls him her friend.
* OurElvesAreDifferent: She comes from an in-name-only forest that can be best described as "a spacetime anomaly, much like a black hole". Even among other elves, she was an oddity, being the only one who dared to venture deep into the forest instead of simply living on its edge.

** Of somewhat obscure note, his sword is a Common Sword from ACII called the Auditore Blade. While this seems like an odd choice for a family weapon, it matches his great grandfather's words in his crypt, that the Auditore's were not nobles, but one of the people.
* NothingUpMySleeve: One would expect his trademark hidden blades to be turned into Katars, but he uses a sword and orb instead while the blades appear in his character presentation screen and two of his sword signatures.

* LightningBruiser: She's got below-average defense, but it isn't that low either, and her strength and speed are impressive.

Gnash is a bruiser character who uses the spear and the hammer. He's got low dexterity, which could be a handicap for combos, however his Strength grants him a strong knockback, even with the spear, to compensate this. His signatures hit very hard, but they tend to feature a charge-up time or simply to come out slowly, so they are best kept for punishing a careless, overaggressive foe, foe ledge-guarding, and finishing-off damaged opponent in one hit.

* ShoutOut: Her [[Film/KillBill Kill Thrill]] skin.

Jaeyun introduced the Greatsword and as such has an easy-to-pick-up gameplay for learning curve purposes. His stats are balanced with a focus on strength and speed, his signatures tend towards the static but with occasionally surprising range. The key to Jaeyun is likely mastering the greatsword to rack up combo damage, and only relying on signatures for finish-offs.

* AHandfulForAnEye: One of Jae's sword signatures involves kicking an arc of sand and rocks in front of him and, if scoring a hit, following with a cut.

* DreadlockWarrior: She has dreadlocks in her default, "Speedmetal", "Sky Scourge" and "New School" skins.
* GuestFighter: Her [[WesternAnimation/AdventureTime Finn]] and [[Series/TheWalkingDead Maggie]] skin.

* GuestFighter: His [[Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles Leonardo]] skin.

Kaya's relatively versatile and easy to play. Her weapons and strength don't allow for a lot of damage, but she can pull off short and medium-lengthed combos unto which her signatures chain remarkably well, and surprise her opponents with offensive dashes and defensive moves that pack quite a punch. He spear neutral signature also benefits from a huge hitbox. Keep movement in mind to outmaneuver your foes and escape danger quickly.

* TheBabyOfTheBunch: She apparently died a teenager and still behaves as one in her afterlife. Several entries establish her as having a very childish behaviour, such as asking [[EvilSorcerer Dusk if he could make presents or cookies for her with his orb]], making friendship bracelets with Munin, and cheerfully waving at the audience.

* [[OddlyShapedSword Oddly Shaped Spear]]: Her prey catcher has no real point, and instead snatches opponent to send them flying.

Koji is a dexterity-based character with weapons that fit the style. He can pull off long and varied strings of light attacks with both sword and bow, and his signatures can be devastating if well-placed ; however, they usually have one or two serious drawbacks, such as narrow or awkward hitboxes, or predictability. As such, they are best kept either as combo ends to finish off a damaged opponent, as anti-air, or as surprise attacks and counterattacks for down signatures.

* GuestFighter: His [[WesternAnimation/AdventureTime Jake]], [[WesternAnimation/Ben10 Four Arms]] and [[WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender Toph Beifong]] skins.

* WeakButSkilled: Lowest strength in the game and a defense above that by one point, but she has extremely high speed and dexterity and is an incredible Martial Arts master.

* EvilIsPetty: He blew up a planet just because he didn't like the colour of its beaches, and another because it haboured his piano teacher.

* OddFriendship: Okay, not really a ''friendship'', per se; but considering that Vraxx is willing to talk to ''Bödvar'' of all people over most of the roster is odd, considering who else he bothers talking to.

* JustLikeRobinHood: {{Defied}}, as quoted in his bio. He's completely self-centered and steals from the rich "because they have all the money".

Magyar has high defence but otherwise mediocre stats, who benefits from wide hitboxes and attacks that can be delayed for optimal timing. The Greatsword is also a weapon with impressive combo capabilites that should be mastered, as one cannot rely on signatures alone. Magyar's hammer offers short-rangeattacks with a defensive backdash move.

* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Many implied. All 100 Strazci were carbonized by dragon fire, then all of them were reanimated and fell at least a second time on the battlefield before joining another body. Assuming it wasn't always the same one, then mathematically conjoined souls in a single armour were defeated again and migrated to another. Magyar may be the Brawlhalla character who went through the most deaths!

* StoneWall: Has low skill and speed, plus average attack, but has the highest defense stat out of all legends.

Mako is an offensive legend with good strength and excellent speed, who can easily position herself optimally for Katar and Greatsword combos. Her signatures tend towards standard patterns that give her mobility, with a special notes to her down signatures, both giving a static move that attacks on both sides of her. This makes her well-rounded, able to effectively counter an aggressive opponent to take back the initiative.

* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily: Downplayed as she doesn't feature real sharks' famous multiple rows of teeth, but she still has plenty and menacingly taunts "How's my smile" in her introduction trailer.

* TornadoMove: Her katar n-sig is this but made of water.

* BeenThereShapedHistory: She apparently inspired the ancient Egyptian hieroglyph combination for "Badass".

Mordex is a versatile legend who's got a few useful defensive moves on the scythe, but his domain is fast, mobile offense and harrassing the opponent. He's so far the only character whose weapons both include active input : when grappling an enemy with scythe or gauntlets, the direction into which the enemy will be hurled can be determined and allows for truly disorienting combos. Don't rely too much on static moves, which become predictable quickly, and instead keep pressure on the opponent, as you can quickly rack up enough damage to deliver [=KOs=] without even resorting to signatures.

* GuestFighter: His [[Film/Hellboy2019 Daimio]] skin.

* GlamRock: Munin and Hugin form a glam rock band named Ravenqueen. Munin even has a huge mohawk somewhat evocative of HairMetal.

* MovesetClone: Munin's twin sister, Hugin, is available as a skin, and even has an alt skin of her own in DJ Hugin. Hugin has her own lock-in animation and announcer line, but is otherwise identical to Munin.

* OddFriendship: She can be seen casually playing music with Rayman on the Ukulele in the Street Fighter part II crossover trailer.

Onyx is a defence-oriented legend whose main strength is her impressive 8 defence, enabling her to take impressive amounts of punishment. Her low dexterity is mitigated somewhat by her use of gauntlets which give her a dash attack, a defensive move with a wide hitbox, and the cannon offers a devastating anti-air neutral sig that chains very well with the weapon's light attacks. She can hold for a while would you loose the initiative, but your best bet is steady strings of combos and careful, strategic use of signatures and dodging to give yourself some space.

* TailSlap: Onyx leads her neutral cannon signature with this.

Orion has a below-average strength stat but has well-rounded stats everywhere else, leading him to be a good rushdown legend for beginners and advanced players alike. What makes Orion so different from the rest of the cast is how his signatures are extremely versatile. Some let him get in, others let him punish overaggressive plays from his opponents. However, be wary of going too gung-ho with his kit, as it's easy to get so caught up in the chase that enemies can punish your overaggression with their own defensive sigs.

* EverythingsBetterwithSamurai: Orion's Kabuto skin.

* WhatTheHellAreYou: Apparently no one knows. [[note]]Well, Ulgrim knows since he built his armour, and Artemis likely does since she's dedicated to ending him. Mirage also seems to know a lot more about him.[[/note]]

* ArsonMurderAndJayWalking: She used to buy and sell "anything forbidden - stim packs, mana potions, mayochup."

* GuestFighter: Her [[WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse Garnet]] and [[Franchise/StreetFighter Ryu]] skins.
* JerkJock: Her only quote so far, and general bio establish her as this.

* MeaningfulName: Petra is latin for "stone" or "rock", and she draws her powers from a specific supernatural one.
* NoodleIncident: She became leader of her first gang after defeating the previous one at "what can only be described as Flying Laser Death Chess". Unless it's a metaphor for the typical aesthetics of fights in ''Franchise/DragonBall''.

Queen Nai is interesting considering that she's actually a bruiser character with two weapons usually associated with dexterity : katars and the spear. Her speed isn't just low, it's objectively the lowest in the game, so fighting unarmed is suicide in most cases. Higher-level Nais tend to swap between defensive on spear and offensive on katars, since, even with her low dexterity, her strings are strong due to her high strength stat, and her superb defense stat can keep her safe if things get dicey. Usually, this is building up for her sigs, which are among some of the strongest in the game if she can pull them off.

* AnimalBattleAura / AnimalMotifs: Serpents with the Spear, Feathers and wings with the Katars.

* DragonVarietyPack: Outside of his DraconicHumanoid form, he can turn into a [[OurWyvernsAreDifferent wyvern-type]] fulls-size dragon.

Reno's signatures should be quite familiar: "anti-air" neutrals, reliable "bread and butter" hard-hitting
side signatures, and his down signatures are a static defensive downwards move on the blasters and a leap with downwards attack on the Orb, good for ledge guarding. Where he shines is through the fact that his blasters' signatures can be maintained for quite a while, meaning one can surprise opponent who would go in a little to quickly, assuming the attack is to end soon.

* RetiredGunfighter: He never had the time to retire in his life, but still entertains the dream of buying himself a farm with his Tournament earnings.

* MadScientist: One of her alternate skins. Her Nemesis, [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Baron Von Evilstein]], was also one.
* MusclesAreMeaningless: Although she ''is'' a boxing champion, she's stronger than the very musclebound Jhala while having little muscle mass herself - possibly indicating that she uses her inventions to enhance her physical stats thereby making this a downplayed example, if not an outright subversion. Tellingly, both her weapons (hammer & rocket lance) are steampunk-themed with the signature animations on either weapon visually implying some form of mechanised propulsion. This may also explain why she doesn't possess the speed to match.
* StealthPun: Her [[ComicBook/ScarletWitch Witch Scarlet]] skin.

A mexican luchador who reclaimed the powers that are his family heirloom, and made himself into a vigilante who protected the innocent and the weak in Mexico City.

* [[EverythingSoundsSexierInFrench Everythin Sounds Sexier In Spanish]]: Several of his lines in the trailer or in Malhalla are in spanish. Justified, he's Mexican.

* MaskedLuchador: His masked is shaped like a Jaguar's head.

* MeaningfulName: His name (or perhaps stage name) Tezca is probably an abreviation of [[Myth/AztecMythology Tezcatlipoca]], a creator god with Jaguar motifs.

* TheAlcoholic: His bio states that he loves his drinking games, with his favorite being "Drink every time Thatch has a beard". He'd also spice his drinks with gunpowder just because.

* AnimalCompanion: Thatch's "castaway" skin gives him a crab companion named "crabby" who emotes with his actions. In the trailer for the crossover with ''The Last Airbender'', we can see that crabby is in fact always hidden under Thatch's hat.
* ArchEnemy: Lore-wise, Ragnir the dragon, whose entry states that he "wrestled so much gold from [Thatch], he became the Pirate's own Moby Dick".
* BloodKnight: He would set his own ships on fire "so that there would be no retreat".

* PirateBooty: He doesn't have any on his own, but apparently goes out at night to dig holes, certain that he'll eventyually find treasures buried by the Gods. His character presentation screen also shows him with one foot over a chest that is identical the Malhalla's icon.

The second Battle Boots legend to be introduced, Theaklyda of Athens is the games' new champion speedster with a sky-high speed stat of 9. This and her typically mobile weapons (the Rocket Lance and Battle Boots) give her the positioning edge she'll need to overcome weak strength and defence, and only average dexterity.

* TrickedOutShoes: Excessively ornate Battle boots that give her some thrust.

* AscendedFanboy: An in-universe example. He would jump into the tournament fights so frequently that it was decided to officialy make him a competitor.
* BrickJoke: It is stated in Ulgrim's bio that he always resented not being chosen to forge Mjölnir, and mocked the smith for botching the handle. Now, he's the one who made the 'other', longer handle which makes Mjölnir valid as a tournament-grade warhammer.
* FieryRedhead: A Myth-accurately red-headed Thor who behaves like you'd expect Thor to behave.

** Amusingly, this means that in a Thor vs Sentinel fight, you can have two different heroes who wield both hammers and lightning.

Ulgrim is a strong, fast-moving, resistant and reliable character. His Rocket Lance gives him good mobility with light attacks, his signatures hits hard with wide hitboxes, and some of his signatures last long. The Axe is just as mobile, and tends to hit on both sides of the character. All in all, Ulgrim is a well-rounded character who just shouldn't rely too much on long strings. Hitting once or twice, following up with a signature, and replacing oneself to receive the opponent again is a perfectly viable strategy : Ulgrim's low Dexterity and cumbersome weapons are his main weak point, which must be taken into account.
