* VillainTakesAnInterest: The Bog Lady is hesitant at keeping everything in the swamp in order, but it's Arlo whom she's especially attached to. She secretly showers him with love, care, and protection ever since the day he first entered the swamp as a baby, something he completely had no idea during his time there. After learning of his true heritage from Edmée on his fifteenth birthday which in turn allows him to finally leave the swamp and begin his journey, this enraged the Bog Lady over losing the one thing she grew attached to all those years; thus she hatches a scheme by casting a dark curse over the swamp, getting Ruff and Stucky to trap Edmée as bait, has Arlo lured to her by a ransom note she ordered the hunters to write out, sinks the yacht used for the way back home, separates him from his friends, and once she finally has him all alone, demand he apologize for leaving her and never do it again. Naturally, he refuses.

* {{Foreshadowing}}: The movie has several hard-to-notice moments that vaguely hint at the Bog Lady's existence:
** Before Arlo starts to sing "More More More", he swings on a vine which appears out of nowhere when it didn't in the scene before; also the lily pads around his log and the weeds on the island where the turtle is sitting change their appearance and position.
** During the song, Arlo says, "I'm hoppin' like a frog all around this funky bog." There actually ''is'' a funky bog, a ''personified'' one, that is. It also hints toward the Heart of the Swamp, an actual bog in the middle of the swamp, which also serves as the domain where she is encountered.
** At one point, Arlo is entangled in a snake's tail and bitten in the head; this literally foreshadows when he is ensnared by her plant life and hypnotized into not leaving.
** The day after Arlo's birthday, when Edmée is letting Arlo go and he is leaving for the mainland, mushrooms begin growing all over the tree trunks when they weren't there the day before. Since it's highly impossible for mushrooms to grow that quickly, it's most likely a cause of the Bog Lady's dark magic, as she's trying to entice Arlo into not leaving, as shown when she materializes a swamp flower and gives it to him in an attempt to get him to apologize.

Badass Mustache and Badass Beard were merged into Manly Facial Hair. Examples that don't fit or are zero-context are removed. Having facial hair is not enough to qualify. To qualify for Manly Facial Hair, the facial hair must be associated with manliness in some way. Please read the trope description before re-adding to make sure the example qualifies.

* {{Foreshadowing}}: A few early works give vague hints toward her existence:
** Just before Arlo sings "More More More", a vine appears before him when there wasn't one in the scene before. Also, the lily pads around his log and the flowers on the turtle's island change. This could give a hint toward the Bog Lady's GreenThumb abilities and that she's actually letting Arlo have fun.
** In the same song, Arlo says, "I'm hopping like a frog all around this funky bog." Becomes more sensitive once you realize there ''is'' a funky bog in the form of a {{Planimal}}.
** In the song "Back To You", Arlo says "Return me unto the place that I'm from, take me back in." Once you realize the Bog Lady is luring Arlo back to the swamp to get him to stay with her, it becomes harsher.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: She obviously didn't know her plan to lure Arlo to her had a few flaws in it; for starters, Alia took inspiration from Bertie to "change her perspective" and find the Heart from above the treetops, and in turn they reach the heart and free Arlo from her trance while fighting her. Secondly, while she did manage to sink the yacht, she didn't know Marcellus would use tracking devices to reunite everyone.
