** In ''VideoGame/FireEmblemTheBindingBlade'', Zeiss is protected by her big sister Milady, the capable leader of Princess Guinivere's PraetorianGuard, from the dangers of the battlefield in their C support, but he doesn't like it. He wants to be the one protecting ''her''. He does eventually in their A support.

** ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfHeroesKuroNoKiseki'': Van acts like a protective older brother towards quite a few younger characters, especially Yume. This somewhat manifests in gameplay through his Draw Aggro craft and his ability to shield one of his party members from an attack as Grendel.

* [[KidHero Clementine]] from ''VideoGame/TheWalkingDead'' quickly bonds with [[spoiler:baby Alvin Junior]], and is extremely protective of him. This is flipped with Sarah, where Clem can be fiercely protective of Sarah despite being four years younger.

** In ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2'', this is actually Mòrag's official job as Special Inquisitor of the Empire of Mor Ardain. Her younger cousin Niall is the Emperor, and her duties as Special Inquisitor involve taking charge of his security and investigating other general threats to Mor Ardain.

Baron Bartels, the stepfather of Mercedes and birth father of Emile, was an abusive man who drove Mercedes and Emile's mother away into the Kingdom. Later, Baron Bartels learned that Mercedes inherited a Crest from her mother. With her mother past childbearing age, Bartels intended to [[ParentalIncest force Mercedes into marriage in the hopes of siring his own Crest-bearing heir]]. Upon learning of this, Emile suffered a psychotic break and murdered Bartels. If the player joins Edelgard's coup and had recruited Mercedes to the Black Eagle house beforehand, Jeritza can continue to look over Mercedes; otherwise, he tries to distance himself from her for fear that his violent split personality, the Death Knight, may harm her.]]

* ''Franchise/AssassinsCreed'': Ezio Auditore da Firenze. In ''VideoGame/AssassinsCreedII'', the first few missions you get involve helping his infirm little brother Petrucio, and [[WifeBasherBasher beating the crap out of his sister Claudia's]] JerkAss boyfriend Duccio. Petrucio's wrongful murder (along with that of his father and older brother) is actually what starts Ezio down the path of the Assassin. For added humor, Ducio turns up years later in ''[[VideoGame/AssassinsCreedBrotherhood Brotherhood]]'', still talking trash about Claudia, and Ezio gets to beat him up again. He also has a cameo in ''[[VideoGame/AssassinsCreedRevelations Revelations]]''. This time, the mere sight of Ezio sends him fleeing in terror.

** Dante plays this straighter; his hatred of Mundus is fueled by what he did to Vergil as well as killing his mother Eva. In ''[=DMC3=],'' despite their hostility, Dante reached his hand out to stop Vergil from falling off a cliff into the demon world, and at the end, Lady spots ManlyTears which Dante [[SandInMyEyes tries to hide]] upon reflecting on the loss of his brother. [[spoiler: Averted in ''[[VideoGame/DevilMayCry5 DMC5.]]'' Brothers they may be, Dante [[PapaWolf won’t stand]] for Vergil [[AbusiveParents hurting his son]] (and Dante’s nephew) Nero and unlike their last confrontation, Dante is perfectly willing to kill his brother for the world’s sake. However in TheStinger Dante and Vergil have rekindled their brotherly bond, having sparring matches in the Demon World]].

* Zig-zagged in ''VideoGame/DevilMayCry'' as Dante and AloofBigBrother Vergil alternate between showing care for each other and trying to slice each other to pieces when they meet. Even when BrainwashedAndCrazy in the [[VideoGame/DevilMayCry1 first game]] Vergil ([[spoiler:aka Nelo Angelo at the time]]) fought against Mundus’s control when he realised he was fighting his brother. In the [[VideoGame/DevilMayCry3DantesAwakening third game]] Vergil despite his apathy forgoes multiple opportunities to finish off Dante only wanting his brother’s amulet though he was prepared to kill Dante when he learnt he needed his brother’s blood to open the demon world. However Vergil still stepped in to help Dante in the FinalBattle against Arkham.

** Played straight with literal KnightTemplarBigBrother Credo and his little sister Kyrie in ''[[VideoGame/DevilMayCry DMC4]]'' as Credo was completely onboard with Sanctus‘s plan... until he captured Kyrie then all bets were off and he tried to kill Sanctus without a second thought. Considering Nero was raised in Credo and Kyrie’s family, Credo’s attitude towards Nero in the early parts of the game has shades of this.

* ''Franchise/StreetFighter'' Has two examples.

*** Seteth is extremely protective of his younger sister Flayn, which frustrates her as he instantly assumes the worst of anyone trying to befriend her (especially boys). [[spoiler: TheReveal is that he's not her annoying big brother, but her OverprotectiveDad.]]

** [[VideoGame/ArtOfFighting Ryo]] is very protective of his kid sister, [[GenkiGirl Yuri.]] This was the reason he initially objected to her taking up Kyokugenryu, and is also the reason he and [[OverprotectiveDad their father]] [[MySisterIsOffLimits won't let Robert near her]], which annoys her to no end. This has been toned down in later games, as he's torn between his desire to protect Yuri and letting her live her own life.

* [[spoiler:Jade]] from ''VideoGame/DragonQuestXI'' is very protective of [[PlayerCharacter the Luminary]], as his mother had been her ParentalSubstitute and she spent 16 years thinking he was dead. One of their first scenes together after she realizes who he is involves her jumping after him when he falls off a cliff and using her body to shield him from the impact.

** Axel towards Roxas, after he started essentially [[PromotionToParent raising]] the amnesiac Nobody. Sort of a KnightTemplarBigBrother, given how much of a PoisonousFriend he is. Often misinterpreted as HoYay since the whole "raising Roxas" wasn't shown until a sequel released several years after the game where the Big Brother Instinct was initially shown.

** While not blood related, since Ibuki is TheBabyOfTheBunch of Karin's squad during Shadowfalls, the older girls take on this role for Ibuki. Karin ensures Ibuki's safety first when the escape helicopter arrives, and Mika literally takes a punch to the face from an AngryBlackMan that was aimed directly and specifically for Ibuki.
