** After a rather serious event, Pikachu tries to [[{{Bathos}} lighten the mood]] by making a pun, eliciting this reaction from everyone... except [[{{Corpsing}} Cynthia]].

** Somewhat surprisingly, the author has managed to avoid this in regards to Ash's Pokémon, almost all of whom get to have a shot at at least one Gym after they leave. However, the ''[[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters sheer number]]'' of Pokémon that he manages to collect mean that there are those which aren't seen by the reader for long periods of time. Almost all of them manage to come back for the [[Anime/PokemonHeroes Altomare incident]], though.
