Fanon Discontinuity says that examples should be of things the whole fandom is disregarding, not issues where some fans disregard it. As the entry as a whole shows, apparently there's no unified agreement within the fandom. I've therefore brought it here to discuss what - if anything - should stay and how it should be worded if anything does.

  • Bleach:
    • Some fans pretend the series ends after the Soul Society arc and ignore absolutely everything that comes afterwards. This is due to the fact that the writing became far more contentious at this point, with the Soul Society arc generally being considered the series' peak.
    • Some fans pretend the series ends after Aizen's defeat. Due to the fact that the Arrancar ended up running longer than Kubo had intended, there were fans that assumed that the series was building to a final battle with Aizen, and expected his defeat to cap off the series. The fact that the arc ended on a rather heartwarming if bittersweet note with Ichigo losing his powers and saying goodbye to Rukia as she fades from his sight seemed to confirm this.
    • Some fans ignore Yammy's reveal as 0th Espada and keep him as 10th Espada, citing that Kenpachi found it easier to cut Yammy than the 5th Espada Nnoitra. Nnoitra had the strongest Hierro and Kenpachi had to learn to adapt to it, making him capable of cutting any Espada's Hierro. Yammy was only 0th Espada because he had the most reiatsu upon release, but the manga always showed he lacked skill, control and intellect, making him easy to defeat. As fights are battles of reiatsu, clashes between two equally skilled fighters boil down to reiatsu levels. Only Kenpachi, sometimes Ichigo, gets away with victory through raw power alone. Some fans feel Yammy proves that brute strength only matters if you're a protagonist.
    • The Lost Agent Arc gets ignored by some parts of the fandom. It doesn't initially appear to address the many dangling plot/character threads from the previous arcs and introduced new characters that didn't quickly win over fans. The new powers and character motives were viewed as either vague or Vaizard Version 2. The climax fight has the main villain defeated a single chapter after Ichigo goes all out and the arc ends with his past and full motives unrevealed. Some fans feel it was a filler arc that contributed nothing except a way to get Ichigo's shinigami power back.
    • The manga's ending is a major point of contention along fans due to the horrifically rushed conclusion and especially the epilogue, in which Ichigo ends up with Orihime and Rukia with Renji.

If my post doesn't mention a giant flying sperm whale with oversized teeth and lionfish fins for flippers, it just isn't worth reading.
