  • Audience-Alienating Era: Hoooo boy, where do we start? To put it simply, they've been stuck in one since 1985. Believe You Me was a lame attempt to ride the waves of groups like Go West and Scritti Politti, filled with medicore songs that put most to sleep. (They broke up not long after.) In 2011, they reunited for a new album, much to the eager anticipation of the fans...only to be let down again as they had a completely different modernised techno/electro-pop sound. From this point forward, they've kept to this stylisation while Neil's voice got older and lower, losing its hammy charm, alienating what few followers are left. Each subsequent release gets more and more bland, with many wondering why the two just don't retire and call it a career.
  • Awesome Music: Plenty from their first two LPs! "Waves", "God's Kitchen", "Blind Vision", and "I've Seen The Word" are pure gold.
  • Cliché Storm: Everything after their second album devolved into this.
  • Cult Classic: An oft-forgotten band that made some highly original songs at a time when everyone was playing Follow the Leader.
  • Fanon Discontinuity: Many fans ignore everything after their second album, Mange Tout, due to the Asian/Indian influences being completely abandoned.
  • Seasonal Rot: Since the 2011 revival, the albums keep getting progressively worse, even by the low standards of the revival releases, to the point where some wish the band would break up again.
  • Signature Song: Either "Living On The Ceiling" or "Blind Vision".
