YMMV / Beauty and the Beast: Belle's Magical World

Go To

  • Anvilicious: Apologize when you're wrong and find it in your heart to forgive others. Compromise is good. Be attentive to the needs of others and treat them with compassion. Not only are a lot of these Captain Obvious Aesops, but most of the individual segments end with a heavy-handed summation of the lesson even though we've seen the characters learn it already, on top of the fact that the segment will make absolutely sure to repeat the message's point over and over again to begin with. In fact, two of the shorts have a musical number recapping everything we just learned.
  • Bile Fascination: Basically, the main reason people watch this is because of its reputation as one of the worst, if not the worst, direct-to-video Disney sequel.
  • Memetic Mutation:
    • The scene where Belle's eyes are in opposite directions is a common and evergreen reaction image. It's also one of the most circulated "Didney Worl" variants.
    • The scene where Beast screams, "I WILL NEVERRRR APOLOGIIIIZE!!!!", often called out for its narm-like qualities.
  • Narm: In "A Broken Wing", after Beast catches sight of the bird in his castle he tries running after it but trips and falls down the stairs. The resulting animation is so sloppy and unconvincing that it looks more like he's flopping like a fish down the stairs, and then once he reaches the bottom his body seems to suddenly turn oddly wooden and solid. It's supposed to be an intense moment, but you'd be forgiven for thinking it was supposed to be Amusing Injuries.
  • Sequelitis: This is seen as one of the worst of the Disneytoon Studios direct-to-video sequels, if not the absolute worst. It has subpar writing, adds nothing to the lore, and has low quality animation even for DTV standards (let alone the standards of a Disney television cartoon, like this was meant to be). Unlike Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, it never received a Blu-ray release, remained out of print when Beauty and the Beast joined the Walt Disney Signature Collection, and rarely even gets mentioned by fans.
  • So Bad, It's Good: There are so many animation errors that it can make for unintentional comedy.
  • Took the Bad Film Seriously: Say what you will, but Paige O'Hara's reprisal as Belle is surprisingly strong. Of special note is "Listen with Our Hearts", where regardless of the quality of the lyrics, her singing is still just as beautiful and on point as ever.
