Calvin buys a model airplane kit and tries to put it together with Hobbes, but things quickly go badly when Calvin skips reading the instructions.

- Aesop Amnesia: After having a terrible time of trying to build the model plane only to end up with an extremely messy finished product that pretty emphatically indicates that model building just isn't for Calvin...he immediately wants to try another, even more complex one.
- Read the Freaking Manual: Calvin doesn't want to read the instructions to building the jet. Hobbes tries to, but doesn't understand that the instructions are copied out three times in different languages. However, Calvin's problems with building the model are more about him being messy and impatient than him not knowing how to build it.
