Basic Trope: Animals that aren't horses are used as steed.

  • Straight: Bob rides on a big dog instead of a horse.
  • Exaggerated: Literally no one rides horses in the work.
  • Downplayed:
    • Bob rarely rides his big dog, and usually rides his horse.
    • Bob rides a zebra; its distinct enough from horses proper but is still a horse itself.
  • Justified: Dogs are the main source of transportation in Bob's world, as horses don't exist.
  • Inverted: A horse rides on Bob.
  • Subverted: Bob sees a big dog and is about to sit on it, but switches to a horse instead.
  • Double Subverted: He then rides on the dog later.
  • Parodied: Horses aren't even allowed to be ridden, and even aliens ride other animals but horses.
  • Averted: Bob rides a regular horse.
  • Zig Zagged: Bob alternates between walking, riding his dog, and riding his horse.
  • Enforced: The creators wanted to make Bob look cooler, so he rides a dog instead of a horse.
  • Lampshaded: "That Bob just loves to ride his dog instead of his horse."
  • Invoked: Bob adopts a big dog and puts a saddle on it.
  • Exploited: Bob uses his dog to escape the Big Bad Wolf.
  • Defied:
    • Bob does not ride in his dog.
    • Bob's dog does not let him ride his back.
  • Discussed: "I'd totally not ride a dog. Eh, Bob's pretty weird, for riding a dog and not a horse."
  • Conversed: "Is riding a dog possible?"
  • Implied:: Bob says he owns lots of animals and has lots saddle equipment but none of them are shown on-screen.
  • Deconstructed:
    • Bob rides on his dog, but the dog's back hurts real bad and he fractures his spine.
    • Bob attempts to go up to a woman's dog and ride it, but the woman yells at Bob for riding one of her dogs and calls the cops on him, getting Bob arrested.
  • Reconstructed:
