Thumbs down

In short, I cannot under any circumstances recomend the Lunaverse. Other than one or two characters who have been intentionally spared, everyone is either handed the idiot ball, villian ball, or something else that has slowly cumulated into turning the setting into a crapsack world.

The canon mane cast has been bashed either for the heck of it, or to show how special and wonderful the Lunasix are, Luna herself has been turned into a limp-hoofed pansy unlike almost any possible interpretation of her core personality who was somehow unable to just stomp the Lunar court into dust the first time they tried something, Applejack is crazy, Fluttershy has turned into a hyper recluse, Celestia wasn't given the mental tools needed to recover and backslid...

In short, it's a mirror darkly, and one done so for the most pointless of reasons.

Fluttershy may have been turned into a hyper recluse, but I'm going to assume that you're utterly ignoring how in every single one of her appearances she's been shown to be gradually emerging from her shell - "Hands" expanded her list of ponies she's comfortable around to Dinky; "Carrot Top of the Line" added Carrot Top; "Tales of Ponyville" added Rarity, Aloe, and Lotus, and the spa staff in general; and "Gala" added Trixie. Applejack...I'm not happy about myself, so you've got a point there. Celestia being a recurring villain I will never understand people not liking. Jesus Christ, I thought people liked recurring villains. What would the world be like without Skeletor and Lord Zedd?

You also forgot to complain about Twilight.

Finally, a question. What do you mean by "stomp the Night Court into dust", exactly?

Fluttershy's been un-reclusing since the beginning of the Lunaverse.

Applejack isn't any crazier than in Applebuck Season, according to Word Of God. She just has more power in the Lunaverse, so when she does something stupid, it's a bigger deal to more of the townsfolk.

What's wrong with Celestia being a recurring villain? Recurring villains are fun.

And how could Luna destroy the Night Court? She's not omniscient such that she would know every time the nobles are doing something bad, and presumably they have the right to things like trials and evidentiary procedure and such. The Lunaverse isn't a fascist dictatorship run by Luna; she seems to respect that, just because she's an alicorn doesn't give her the right to trample other pony's privacy or remove their own rights.

I just want everyone to know that this was not me. I had nothing to do with this. This is entirely someone else complaining about the Lunaverse this time.

Although...

Yes, they are...but not in this case. REALLY not in this case.

We know it's not you, IAH, we can see Scootyloo's screen name...

Corona's biggest problem is her lack of screen time. I probably should have enforced more Corona episodes or something...I'm planning on doing something like that for Season 2. Although, she would have had more screen time if I had just started "Tambelon" instead of "Gala." Still, "Tambelon" is now the Season 2 opener, so hopefully that will help. Corona's character will be undergoing some serious examination in that one to turn her into a more credible recurring threat.

just because she's an alicorn doesn't give her the right to trample other pony's privacy or remove their own rights.

This, very much so. Although, she is also somewhat hiding behind the letter of the law out of her own fear of becoming a tyrant. Much of At GGG is about Luna exposing that and Trixie trying to show her a work around.

"Yes, they are...but not in this case. REALLY not in this case."

Why not in this case? She makes a good recurring villain — strong enough not to be easily defeated, entertaining to watch, and has plausible motivation behind her actions.

"Why not in this case? She makes a good recurring villain — strong enough not to be easily defeated, entertaining to watch, and has plausible motivation behind her actions."

Except that I still don't buy the entire backstory, the ending of LNLD is a slap in the face that undermines the entire point of the show's pilot just for the sake of having a recurring villain, and her personality so far can be boiled down to an overpowered three-year-old with sharing issues. Unless Tambelon changes my mind, I see no good reason for her to be the series' recurring villain.

But that's not the worst of it. Let me tell you about a certain zebra who became an evil sun worshiper and threw out the entire point of "Bridle Gossip..."

Technically I don't see Zecora as being evil, so much as having a morality that is entirely based around what Corona wants. But, as long as Corona is evil, I admit that the point is a pedantic one since she'll still be on Team Evil's side regardless.

Although, on "Bridle Gossip..." the point of the episode wasn't "Zecora is the helpful hermit who lives in the woods," the point of the episode was "don't judge a book by its cover." As I've pointed out before, not one of the L6 judged Zecora based on the fact that she was a zebra, except to remark that it was unusual to see one in Equestria.

A key thing to remember is that Lunaverse Zecora, and indeed most copied characters, are distinct characters from Maneverse Zecora, though...they share a name and race and elements of personality, but they're supposed to be approached as their own thing. With Twilight, for example, I wasn't trying to say "this is how Twilight would be without Celestia," so much as "this is how Twilight is in the Lunaverse, and here is my justification for it based on what we've seen from the show," the latter mostly there because I can't change them too much from the baseline, or else I should just make an OC instead.

The obvious exception is, of course, Corona. I wanted a recurring villain, and my decision to make Corona the recurring villain stems largely from three things: one, I thought it would be the easiest change to make; two, it immediately differentiates the Lunaverse from the Maneverse in an obvious way; and three, it was actually inspired by the reaction of Japanese viewers to the end of the pilot episode, who had thought that recovering the Elements of Harmony was going to be a season-long quest and Nightmare Moon was going to remain a villain throughout the season, what with Japanese cartoons tending to be less episodic than American ones.

I liked the fundamental idea and so adopted it. Needless to say, in Across the Multiverse, at least one alternate universe visited will probably be one where Nightmare Moon escaped at the end of the Pilot and continued to be a threat. It will probably mercilessly parody the Lunaverse.

"Bon Bon is Lyra's marefriend in your universe? In ours, she's the evil High Priestess of the Cult of Nightmare Moon!"

But anyway. I said I don't want to argue about this anymore, so I won't. I made my point and I'm done.

Having said that, I'm still curious as to what Scootyloo thought Luna should to do "grind the Night Court to dust..."

Agreed. Let us keep this from spilling into other websites for the time being. I will just leave with a "I disagree with what you say but will defend your right to say it" and move on.

Thanks. Though on that note:

"Celestia-Nightmareverse," i.e., the universe were Nightmare Moon escaped at the end of the pilot. The M6 have the Elements, of course, but as for the portrayal of the L6...

- Lyra is emotionally distraught due to Bon Bon joining with Nightmare Moon. Basically her every appearance involves beating her down some. - Raindrops has tremendous moodswings and is often violent. - Cheerilee is a hilariously incompetent teacher - Carrot Top is a complete doormat. She only shows up so ponies can walk all over her. - Ditzy Doo is intended to be just the same Ditzy Doo, but her clumsiness is played up to such an extent that it becomes painful. - Trixie is Magic Duel Trixie only without a reason for it. She serves as a secondary antagonist in the series, but is more Team Rocket than Team Evil

"Cheerilee is a hilariously incompetent teacher"

Just like the real Cheerilee. :)
