"Mommy Nearest" was a requested flashfic, written quickly and mostly on a whim. It certainly was never intended to be a masterpiece and, honestly, wasn't expected to get much attention at all. So yes, "Alicorn" is a much (not even arguably, just IS a MUCH better story) because Aldea Donder took the concept and with concerted effort made it into a terrific, thoughtful and real story.
So if you find yourself saying, "'Mommy Nearest' really sucks compared to 'Alicorn'" (or any other fanfic really... or just in general) just remember that the writer of "Mommy Nearest" agrees wholeheartedly, for the reasons specified above. Thank you.
